I was wondering, since so many people seem to be put off by so many things in Gran Turismo 5, whether anyone has stopped playing it completely and moved to another game. Could be anything really, like an earlier title of the franchise or even a completely different game on a different platform.

I find myself only playing very rarely, but the good parts of GT5 still are fun enough right now to keep me hooked to an extent (and I don't really have any other game to play right now).

I understand it might be a bit of an odd question since those who did stop, if there are any of those people out there, probably don't visit this part of the forum anymore and thus will never read these lines. But given the sheer amount of people frequenting this page ever since GT5 was released, there must be someone who has actually given up but still visits the GT5 section of GTPlanet.

So whoever you are and whereever you may be - please be so kind to share a few words with us and tell us how your life with GT5 came to a halt.

during GT academy, i pretty much spent the entire competition length (almost a month) exclusively doing that. i racked up probably over 3000 miles just doing that. once the competition ended (and i didn't make it by 3 seconds total), i haven't touched it. mostly cuz i got LBP2. i think i got so far detached from the single player game, i haven't gotten the urge to start racing and building up my garage again. it'll come back soon, though, once I get tired of LBP2.

Yeh I got bored real quick, was enjoying it heaps at first, but dunno, jut haven't turned it on in a month or so....
Im sure I'll go back someday and enjoy it for a few weeks again!

Oh and I'm only browsing here coz another racing service is down for maintenance!!!

Nope...still doing the seasonal events each week and am constantly collecting cars and testing them on the Nurb. Still got a couple endurance races to do too, but I'm saving those.

Haven't played in about 2 weeks. Every now and then I do a couple of laps of the Nordschleife but I have absolutely no intention of doing any more A-spec races (and haven't touched B-spec).

Might give F1 2010 another run tonight seeing as hype is building for the new season

I haven't really started playing it properly tbh. With exams & coursework I've just been too busy/stressed. Probably won't properly get into it until the summer. :ill:

I've not stopped playing it (have it on now actually :P) but I'm not playing it as much as I used to, and not as much as I thought I would. I seem to be getting more enjoyment out of the photomode than actual racing, which is wrong frankly but hey, there you go.

Guess I'm the first one to vote for one of the 'totally stopped' answers. I keep checking in here every so often mostly hoping for news of an update, but I know an update or two won't be enough. A couple weeks ago I did a little online, but that's all I have left in me.

I'm a pretty solid video gamer, so I've moved on to other things.
I went through a pretty strong MAG binge after picking it up cheap.
For the last week or so I've been on a Commodore 64 kick.

I'm actually getting quite bored with it, halfway through the endurance races. I've never been bored with a GT game only 2-3 months after release, usually its taken well over a year. Its the same complaint as many others: its short on content. Yea it has online, but it seems like a lot of folks don't abide by the room rules if they can or they race like its a full-contact police pursuit.

In fact there's a car I want in the UCD, and I'm short on cash. I decided to wait until the next seasonal event before I play again, just so I can get the cash before it goes off the list.

I dunno, I expected more. I'm here everyday hoping to see an update on the next game patch. Just hoping for more.

Aside from the seasonal event races, I'm not playing it. As a racing game it's just not holding my interest. For grins I started playing Ferrari Trofeo again. The driving model isn't as good, but I'm enjoying it a lot more than GT5.

I'll check in once a week for the seasonals, and if the mood hits me I'll do a few laps around the 'Ring with with a favorite car, but right now I'm playing Dead space 2.

When NFS: HP came out I totally stopped. Now I'm back just for the seasonal racing and some of the online rooms have gotten better. I find a real nice ride in the UCD that I want so I go grind for it... after a few minutes I realize how bored it made me before then I stop again.

I just play it now when the new seasonal events come out, if online had been setup properly like the Forza series i'd be on it every night!

I'm playing it online 3-4hours every day and I think that I will do that for months and months again!

You lucky so and so.

GT decides when it will let me play.
ASpec finished level 30.

Online hit and miss for me. I'm getting to around 4 disconnects before I switch off. The other night though it disconnected me for the first time that night. Bang I switch it off, ha ha GT not getting me again tonight.

Sad really.

Just waiting for my GT2

Well on one side I am not sure they would be here posting and reading anymore if they had and as a second issue I have games I haven't played in months but still play once in a while and I am sure GT5 will be like that at some point... either way for now my game time is about 50/50 BFBC2 and GT5...

Haven't played since before Christmas... :guilty: Not sure why. Have no urge to turn it on. I just wish the racing was better. It's a great driving simulator, but it doesn't really provide any racing excitement for me.

I only check gtplanet periodically in the hopes of seeing a cool new update/addition.

havnt stopped but damn near to it.

a spec lvl 36 and b spec 36 both nearly 37 and ive golded almost everything.

hate online play with a passion unless im playing with mates.

for me gt5 is going down the road forza 3 did. kept me occupied for a while but now im getting sick of how easy the game is and all the stupid bugs and little annoying things.

things that didnt bother me before are just annoying me so everytime i think about playing it i dont and i go play something else.

im a big gt fan and gt5 has surpassed my expectations in some areas but in most im dissapointed.

Well I didn't get the game until Christmas, unlike most others who got the game right away at launch, so the game is still nice. To be honest, I actually started off being bored by the game, then it got better as I kept playing, because really, the first 10 levels were almost like playing GT4 in HD. Standard Cars, similar starter events, same tracks, but as you level up it gets better. I still don't play this game full time though. I got two big titles that I share my time with (Black Ops and LBP2) but GT5 gets its fair share of time. I'll probably quit playing once I got to level 40 on A Spec and I couldn't care less for B Spec so I'm not playing. Maybe when that mobile app comes out for it, I might just do that, but I'm not going to stare at a TV for 8 minutes watching a stupid AI that can't drive!

What GT5 needs is online-matchmaking and online-leaderboards with a better, meaningful XP system for actual races and timetrials ( online and offline [ Acade and GT Life ] ).

Yes, the GT mode part is a mess with all the leveling up and poor prize cars, but I wouldn't really care, because I mostly play Arcade / Time-trials since GT1!

So... to answer the question, no I haven't stop playing GT5 yet, I really enjoy it and had some great and extremely fair online battles ... but I can see it becoming boring rather fast, if nothing of the above mentioned is going to be implemented.

It's a great "driving" experience, but it really lacks a lot of depth and "feel" of the older GT games (except GT5 Prologue which was much worse IMO- the super messy online leaderboards comes to mind, not to mention the two different driving physics):indiff:

Ok even if most of the previously said sounds negative, I love GT5 and here's hope for improvement. :)

Stopped playing the single player portion entirely, but between our friends we do have a lan gathering every month so I still practice for the event, but that's the only thing I do, didn't even put the wheel and PS3 back on the rig since returning from the lan party last week.

I'm finding less & less reasons to play it.
I'm actually considering getting a PS2 and GT4...

Not a bad idea. I just put GT5 in again and in 30 minutes was bored stiff. Bored stiff in a high-definition and beautiful way, but still bored. But I started a new career again in GT4 and am having a great time as usual. I think you'll get a lot of great gameplay out of your investment. If nothing else you can experience all the great tracks they took out of GT5.

^^ I think this is the #1 reason people will get bored with the game.. the ability to grind removes any challenge and incentive.

I only get a few hours a week so am far from bored / or finished with the game.
My friends and I are running a GT300 weekly race series in a private room which is perfect, and tbh I could keep doing this and never lose interest in the game as there is so much scope for how you want to structure the online racing you are really not limited at all.

I stopped since I got into iRacing. I came back to GT a few times but can't get into it like I did before. Maybe future patches will bring me back. I hope so. I was playing nonstop since it's release up until a few weeks ago.
