I have left with the 4 last Endurance Races in A-Spec, The last 24h race in b-spec and the S.V. event....Everything is gold.
I have the level to enter to the last bob-spec endurance and to the 4hr nurburgring in a-spec ....... but i am sooooooo bloody bored of the damn thing...
Especially cause i am 100% that after winning the 4hr endurance and if a miracle happens and get all golds in S.V. event i will still have to play over and over again the same boring races to level up so i can hopefully enter to the next a-spec endurance.

Yep, I stopped playing it. I dunno why, but it gets boring after a while. Plus, still many things are bugging me. It feels like an unfinished product in many ways, which affects my enjoyment in playing it. Might pick it up after a couple of weeks. For now I'm looking forward to TDU2. A totally different racegame, but something I will definitely enjoy for a longer period of time.

Only thing we need is better ONLINE! Some events and championships.
Than we will never stop playing.
ONLINE race rules, Single Player isn't fun as online...

I have to confess, I haven't played GT5 since before Xmas... the reasons are several, and the initial hiatus was actually due to an injury to my thumb as a direct result of playing GT5 (which has happened before). I then went on holiday over Xmas, but upon my return, I simply didn't have the urge to play it that I might have expected. I thus turned to completing FFXIII, which took up all of my gaming time, and I didn't miss GT5 at all. I completed FFXIII a couple of weeks ago, and yet, still, the urge to resume GT5 is eluding me.

I guess my break from the game made me realise that GT5 simply isn't able to deliver that 'lifestyle' feeling that I used to have with previous GT games. The game itself could be better - it could indeed be much better - but I reckon it is more about the fact that I am a 36 year old man with an increasingly demanding job, and a private life that puts severe (and not unwelcome) limits on how much time I can (or want) to devote to a game (esp. a game that is not radically different from games I've already devoted so much time to already). GT5 is like many games nowadays - it asks that little bit too much, and doesn't quite deliver enough to justify the massive time expenditure.

I've recently taken to the photography side of things and seeing as there is so much scope, I can't imagine turning to another game for quite some time. The only 'proper' races I do though are the Seasonal events; if those continue for the foreseeable future I will get to level 40 A-spec slowly but surely.
Yes, I'm starting to see GT5 as more than a racing game. It's more like a car appreciation game.

A friend came over last night to drop some stuff off, and I happened to have a replay going (Schwimmwagen at Eiger). He was stunned by the detail, noticed things like grass blowing in the breeze, and he just couldn't get over it. I'd also been watching a replay of a TVR running at Cape Ring, and I couldn't believe how realistic it looked -- the slight pitch in the corners, the tail slightly stepped out...for lack of a better word, I'd call it graceful. And when you make a smooth pass, it's a thing of beauty in replay.

So far, it seems like the parts that the game does really well are the parts that appeal to an older generation of gamers. It's not as well suited to the younger 'gotta have it now' crowd. These things will keep me coming back to this game for years. It still needs further development, but the good stuff is just amazing.

Nope, seasonal events are the best, keeps me playing every week, plus online gives it longevity. Those of you not playing anymore need to add people to your friends list and race friendly races online.

Well so far I've spent more time on GT5 than any other game.

Infact GT5 is consuming too much of my time. I have to force myself to stop playing.

I guess some people have poor internet connections and can't enjoy online play. If there were no online play I would have stopped playing too.

But also I find restricting myself in seasonal and a-spec makes the game more fun and challenging. Thanks to the season events sub-forum I can know where the challenge lies. In A-Spec, I have to guess a little.

I dont play it anymore. My 360 died shortly after Forza 3 came out, didnt bother replacing it due to GT5 being on the horizon, but now Im very tempted to just go buy another 360. Although Im unsure if I should just wait for Forza 4, which im assuming is coming later this year.

Ill have to get one anyway for Forza 4 so I guess I should just go get one. Id much rather play Forza 3 than this. I felt it was better in almost every way.

Except the driving.

I've stopped playing the offline game because I find it so mind numbingly boring, I completed Beginners, Intermediate, Pro, most of the Special Events & golded 4 licences & that's pretty much it. I'm still doing the Seasonal Events just to get the money for cars I wanna race online with my friends. To be honest, online racing with other gentleman drivers is the main attraction for me, that & having a solo drive on The Nurburg Rings in my fav cars.

👎👍

I will still play it occasionally.

The events are rubbish. GT5P had more memorable events S-6 was quick, fun and paid a lot. Top payers in GT5 are Indy driving in circles, no thanks, other events take longer and pose no challenge. The seasonal events with the Focus at Rome and RX-7 at Tsukuba were better than any in A-spec.

The awful menu system puts me off even starting the game, everything takes far too long. Tuning menu is too fiddly with that tiny icon on the far right, press once more and you have to go around the screen again to land on the silly small tuning icon. GT5P so much better more in-depth and was suppose to be barebones game lol. It took a patch to add restart the race to save you loading the track again, wow thanks PD. The restart replay option back to the top added is no use. We want to fast forward, pick a certain moment or time.

GT5P image quality is much better, replays in GT5P are still attention grabbing, GT5 is simply not with the blurry AA and texture drop.

Don't feel like checking the used dealership after every race hoping such and such a car turns up.

I use B-spec to earn credits but the best is Indy again every 15 mins for 100k. The payout for the endurances is laughable.

Photomode should have contrast/brightness/colour saturation adjustments plus many more. Full screen in photomode would be nice. I have a big screen and GT5 goes into a tiny window. Exporting pics lol. Why not have it like the xmb where you can select multiple pics in a flash, GT5 exports all or one at a time. I have 300 and want to export 20. Exporting all was added in a patch but can only see it helping a handful of people once or twice or unless you always delete.

When looking through your pics in GT5, why the hell can't you move to the next image by pressing a shoulder button? Exporting one by one means I have to move from the export icon back across to the left right icons, select the next pic and move over to the export again. Please make it so I can flick through the pics on the shoulder button, you know, like you can on the XMB. Maybe I missed something on the buttons so welcome to be corrected. Menu system is from hell.

+1 to everything you said chromatic9, even after that long post you're still only exposing the tip of the iceberg of GT5's failings, I reckon a whole book could be written on it!

Thanks. I was going to qualify by saying this is only the tip of the iceberg.

I stopped at level 30 since there's really nothing new except for seasonal events. Now, I'm back to playing FM3 it's hard to get away from all the new replica's that gets painted almost daily. I hope Kaz is listening so we can get livery editor w/ option of selling, buying (storefront) it in GT6.

I play it online a lot.

Rooms with low hp and penalties don't usually have bad drivers.

Other than that, with all the updates coming in, I think I will be playing this until GT6 comes out.

Its understandable that, according to current statistics, 60% of the players do not share the initial enthusiasm that they had for the game since its release 3 months ago. They range from those who play it but do not derive much enjoyment, to those who have completely stopped.

However, whats more interesting is that greater than 1/3 of the voters do not see GT5 as a prime video game of their choice anymore. (despite the fact that they've likely showed considerable interest in the game at first, evinced by the fact that they joined GTP).

In a mere 3 months, one of the cornerstone games of the PS3 is losing the attention of its gamers. And this is only considering the people who go to GTPlanet regularly, browse the forums, and votes. Consider the external mass who do not know about GTP or GT themed forums, and are simply gamers who buy video games. Are they bored of this title already?

If Polyphony Digital has any interest in keeping ahead in the simulator racing genre, they should reexamine their fundamental value propositions. Boredom does not translate well into brand loyalty and $_$.

Still playing for credits and buying/modding cars and taking pictures; and some good races and racers online, but...

Online has too many rooms with traders, cruisers, 'show'ers, drag racers; not enough racining rooms and the connection appears fragile at times 👎

I'm kind of surprised at how many replies this thread actually has, so far. You would think, if someone HAD stopped playing GT5 completely, they wouldn't be on this forum, either...! :sly:

I still like GT games, where else am I going to go to talk to people who feel the same way? I don't know what ever happened to that 'built-in online community' Sony was on about--maybe they should just include a web browser function aimed at this site.

Besides, GTP is still in my auto-open list, and it's a lot quicker to check here for possible patches on here than it is to wait through minutes of loading to start up the game.

Most people when they don't like or don't play a game don't post on the forums, they post on forums about games they are playing/like. The fact that same people are posting here a lot i highly doubt many are not interested in Gt5 or have totally stopped playing.

Why check or wait for patches if you don't like Gt5 or are finished with it?

I'm actually playing NBA2k10 right now.

If we could customize the car like Forza or even NFS Most Wanted, with wings, vinyls, paint, stickers and all, I'd be playing right now to make the cars look good but every car looks the same, unless you put a carbon hood and an ugly wing that is bolted on the car.

I'm level 30, thanks to the seasonal events, because I'd still be at lv 26 and I'm level 39 (really close to 40) in b-spec. As soon as I'll reach lv 40 in b-spec, it will probably never run again. I'll play the seasonal events every week and collect cars and wait for the next "se" to do the same until I put the game in his "collector edition" bs that it was.

I have NFS Shift and I'm THIS CLOSE to pre-order Shift 2. It may not be a "simulator" but at least, NFS S2 looks FUN.

Cause as in many things there is some hope in it.
We hope that someday via updates will get better, and get back all the things that was left out.

Very nearly stopped playing GT5 or should I say Gran Turismo chore.

Finding it very hard to find the motivation to play GT5 anymore due to numerous reasons. Firstly im only left with 24hr endurance races in A/B Spec but will not risk my PS3 unless we see a patch that allows us to save whilst pitting. This only leaves my favourite hobby which is hotlapping on the time trials but this has become a massive chore. I messed up the build of my Peugeot Rally Car 99 so I wasn't able to improve on my laptime so instead I thought I would look in the USD for another one. Its now been 4 days of constantly looking in the USD and yet nothing except the same cars always appearing.

Bottom line is the graphics, physics are excellent on GT5 but my word the gameplay is dreadful and appears to be put together in 5mins. The lack of leaderboards is a real killer because if we had A Spec leaderboards at least I would have motivation to keep re-running events.

I can see future sales of Gran Turismo being much lower in the future because of GT5. Don't forget this forum isn't representative of the average gamer and these days the average gamer expects far more than what GT5 offers. Unfortunately the gameplay on GT5 is old, stale, boring and out of touch with gaming of today.

I don't know how long you have been gaming but no patch will magically change the game, the core you see now is what you got, they will add smaller scale things but no patch is gonna change it that drastically.

This is a load of crock, gameplay is old stale? Its easily the best on console. Your confusing game design and gameplay. The game is structured in a way that is not the best, gameplay i stellar, no other game drives or feels like GT5, its why despite its flaws people still play and love gt5.

many of you need to start racing online with a few good people/friends, infinite gameplay. Single player is only a portion of the game.

I think there are a few who, like me, don't think that they've really played GT5 yet. I've grown very sick of the GT5 unpaid beta phase, and am fully ready for PD to release the 'real' game.

If the planets align and a major patch happens, I'll be back. There's a great game buried inside of GT5, and it doesn't take much imagination to see it. The mechanics are mostly there, it's the details that let it down. If PD just looked into all the complaints that start with "it would have taken them no more effort to have done this right," then I'd be back, but I don't want to be part of the testing cycle.
