This is a load of crock, gameplay is old stale? Its easily the best on console.

Depends on how you define gameplay. GT5 has no qualification or race practice, most races are a couple laps long, and the AI can hardly control a car. While I agree that online makes all of that moot, at least for me, some people didn't get the game to go online. The physics are great, but they don't simulate racing on their own.

I haven't played it for a few days now but to be fair I haven't been off it since release, this hasn't happened with any game before. Iv'e got black ops and bad company 2 to play when I get bored of racing.

I just finished what I had planned to finish. No more challenges for me.

I was planning on doing a 5 lap time trial with all of my favorite cars, and posting which cars are the fastest on here. I added them all to "favorites" last night and they piled up to 80+ cars, that's gonna take a long time so I guess I'm just done with GT5.

I was actually getting bored with it and I realized that I wasn't utilizing the game properly. I let the mundane A-Spec mode drag me down. Then I started doing one make races in practice mode and having a LOT of fun with those. Then I tapped into GT TV and realized there was some cool stuff in there. There's still a lot to do in this game, I just don't care about leveling up anymore. Waste of time and effort. I was letting the crappy career mode set up get in the way of the purely awesome physics that I bought the game for.

Haven't played in about a week or so. Playing Fifa 11. Not so much bored as I am pissed off with where I'm stuck in the game.

Can't pass an Overtake in the License. Can't pass Lotus Challenge in Special Events and Can't pass the top level go-kart.

I also don't enjoy Asian-style grinding to reach new levels.

I've yet to find an online special event I enjoyed. All of them involved buying new cars.

Oh and I find online racing is more "tunnel drags" on SS7 and hick NASCAR racing on Daytona. I remember suggesting we do a 5 lap of Nurburgring and some douche said he "didn't see himself spending 35 minutes racing one race".

Oh and there isn't a chance in hell I'm keeping my PS3 on for 24 hours to do enduro's. Give me a save option in the pits, or I won't do any of them. Besides, who honestly races 24 hours straight....hello life, wife, job!!!

Asian style grinding............... Western games have had this or years.

You want Pd to give you a car for a race? WOW. god forbid you have to buy a car............... today's game so self entitled.

I would play it more if they fixed the issues with wireless routing. The online is fun, but i can't haul the PS3 next to my computer every day for couple of online races and then haul it bact to the tv set.

The single player mode is mostly dead. I will be driving the endurances with friends but aranging time for that is hard in my life situation...

Yes, I stopped completely at the beginning of January, after about one month of playing time.
Too many things missing since past games, what is left is the same rehashed stuff, there's hardly any improvement in many areas, spoon-fed updates and seasonal events are mostly geared toward casual gamers (these people are by the way the main reason why the game has lost its magic, in my opinion).
There's really not much point for me to continue playing. It's become quickly boring over time (grind-fest), and regarding realism and accuracy (driving, settings, etc), while it does have improved over past games, it's still not enough to keep myself hooked on it like how a sim as Iracing (for example) would.

I'm glad I waited to upgrade my old force feedback wheel. GT5 has been a major disappointment for me and I don't really feel like spending more money for it at this point.

Now I'm just curious about what future updates will bring...

I think you're on to something. I think the people who are 100% hardcore SHOULD be the most dissatisfied. If you played a prior GT game and it lasted you a year with the content it had, it makes sense to get upset.

GT5 is not a diehard, 100% to the bone sim like iRacing but it is real enough to satiate the driving needs of the majority once you start progressing through the game.

If you came into the series at GT5p, then theres still a great deal of novelty and when games usually don't last 2 weeks in this gen, GT5 seems perfectly fine.

Aside from the obvious trolling, I think this might be the reason why it seems like opinions on the game are all over the place.

iv got to level 30 and found it started to get very boring so iv just spent a few weeks playing halo reach but ill go back to it very soon.

I'm still playing it for the simple fact that i enjoy driving. Now that i got a proper steering wheel it's more fun than ever. I could care less what's in the game or not, enough of my favorite cars are on here. I enjoy it daily.

I have a shoebox with my favorite cars in it, and it's tons of fun. My engine sounds and AI are better, but sometimes I let my physics go a little soft ...
You should see how efficient my trading system is.

Two months or so after release, and only 40% or so from this poll say they aren't bored with it and are continuing to play it full-time.

Is this an epic fail, or just the regular kind? :ouch:

I don't mind buying the cars (haven't duped or received a gift ever), but I do feel entitled to complain about having to grind the same few things over and over, when GT4 had 400 more events.

If self-entitlement is expecting to have as good an experience from a sequal as the previous game, then hell yeah! I feel entitled..!

I'm starting to play less and less..I'm only level 27 and am starting to feel a little disenchancted.

So I just browse the UCD for cars I ignored in GT4 (or ones the X2010 and Veyron-loving noobs hate) and test them out. Making 'project cars' and taking them through the ranks, restricting tuning as I go is the most fun I'm having these days. It was how I found out I could beat WRXs and Skylines in a Daihatsu Storia, how I could rake in 21 different victories in a VW Bug etc...or, how a Vauxhall Vectra could eat a Gallardo for breakfast :D

In all probability, those who no longer play the game, no longer visit GTPlanet.

Poll results aren't particularly accurate, given the sample.

I'll occasionally play it for something to do, but for the most part I've lost interest with the game. It just didn't draw me in like past GT games, I'm not what it was. Maybe my bar has been risen by other racing games and GT5 just didn't quite meet it. I know the grinding for levels and credits quickly got boring for me, and the lack of premium cars sorted disappointed me too.

I think I was expecting more then I got to be honest. I'm not saying GT is a bad game, I just don't think it's a game for me.

I haven't stopped playing completely but I am getting bored with it. I'm done with everything I'm going to do in the game... all the races (except for some of the endurance races that I'll never do), all the licenses, all the special events... the only things left are to do the seasonal events when they pop up and buy cars.

I have 20,000,000 credits and about 500 cars in my garage, but the constant grinding needed to keep the 20,000,000 credits after buying a few cars is getting very monotonous. I'm getting to the point where I don't care if I get every car in the game anymore. Plus the fact that GT5 doesn't have certain cars... **cough Porsche cough** ... doesn't really inspire me to keep going. Although driving some of the cars I've bought is a real pleasure. They really did a fine job with some of them. I don't know. I have mixed feelings! Sometimes I get really frustrated with the game, the UCD, standard cars vs premium, lack of significant prize money, having to grind for credits and xp, the credit cap, lack of races, etc... Other times I hop into one of the premium race cars, hit the track and I'm in awe! I do like the game a lot it's just wearing thin and not occupying my time like it once did. I had hoped for a lot more.

Too bad the game was so short. There are just too few races. Forza III took me about 8 months to finally complete due to the immense number of races. Maybe a future update will breath new life into GT5 and those of us getting bored will be back to playing with renewed enthusiasm. I sure hope so! I really want it to continue but need something more than what's available right now.

In the mean time NFS Shift II is on pre-order... I'll have some real (virtual) Porsche's to drive again in some new races. That should be enjoyable for a while.

That's the question. I mean I have been here long before GT5, and I predict I will stay here for much longer, at least to see what GT6 will be like. Partaking in an internet community can easily surpass the simple purpose of getting information. People can feel at home here and might stay even if they completely stop playing GT5.

Agreed, but the bad thing is: given we suspect a number of people actually having left GTP and hence not having voted in this poll, the result we have now is more in favor of GT5 than it should be.

A lot of us here at GTPlanet stayed over after we stopped playing GT4. I'd like to think a lot will stay afterwards.

While GT5's lack of A-Spec is a big downer, there's more cars than in GT4, so the post-career testing-testing-testing phase should last much longer than it did for me there... (about two years... with a six month break halfway). Online and Seasonals help keep me entertained, too.

Strange to think about "replayability" with any modern game. I've found that, with the exception of games that actually take months to complete, many modern games aren't worth playing at all after you've finished them. COD:MW took no time to finish. I stopped GTAIV dead after finishing story mode... I did Fallout3 twice through, and that was it. SHIFT lasted me all of three weeks (didn't even bother finishing it), and the last NFS arcade title I actually felt like finishing was Underground2.

I sometimes miss the epic length of some of the better PC titles and RPGs that I used to play... but modern console games are lacking in that regard.

At least GT5's sandbox mode keeps me occupied, but I can fully understand why so many people are getting fed up with it.

That's the weird thing. If you solely look at the specs, GT5 should at least have as much replay value as GT4 had when you're done with the career. But for me, it hasn't. Its shortcomings hit me so hard in every respect that as opposed to any previous Gran Turismo title except GT-PSP, I just can't force myself to play it. Saying that I would have to force myself already shows how bad it is.

I love GT5 when it's brilliant: cockpit view, no instruments, no map - just me, the car and the tarmac. But even then, I don't find it immersive enough. I remember playing a demo of GTR on my PC many years ago, driving a Morgan Aero 8 on Spa Francorchamps. It may not have been as good looking in terms of graphics, but even as I was playing it with my keyboard, it was a better overall driving experience than GT5. There is just too much missing from it and too much wrong with it to be as addictive as all previous GTs were to me.

Dunno... GT5 does start to bore me, yes.

Might be due to the fact that I'm not the kind of guy to collect a bazillion different cars and drive them all. I usually just stick to what cars I like, And being the 'hater' I am, I'm mostly sticking with premium cars, too.

Add a crappy internet connection to that and a crappy AI, and the novelty of hotlapping tapers of rather quick, no matter how awesome the driving feels or how ncie the premium cars are.

I'm currently trying my hand at the Photo Mode more and more, which kinda revived the game for me (to an extend). Oh well, I still have to finish Fallout: New Vegas and I'm definitely going to have a look at Shift 2 upon release.
GT5 will probably last that long. And a rough three and a half months is a decent amount of time to be entained by a single game. It's actually really good, given how long most of todays games last, but I kinda expected more out of GT5.

This is a load of crock, gameplay is old stale? Its easily the best on console. Your confusing game design and gameplay. The game is structured in a way that is not the best, gameplay i stellar, no other game drives or feels like GT5, its why despite its flaws people still play and love gt5.

many of you need to start racing online with a few good people/friends, infinite gameplay. Single player is only a portion of the game.

Your talking about the physics when i've already said the physics are epic. The reason why I said GT5 is stale, boring, outdated is mainly due to the lack of leaderboards. Many racing games these days have leaderboards as standard even for the career mode and Forza 2 was the perfect example. I replayed the Forza 2 career 5 times but at no stage did it feel like a chore because my main goal was to challenge myself against my friends and the rest of the world. The challenge of being consistently fast for x amount of laps was very addictive.

Video gaming these days has drastically changed and as i've played video games since the 1980s I have witnessed this change. For example I used to be a big fan of the Resident Evil series on the PS1/PS2 and would just keep playing through the game many times. However this isn't something that I would do these days because the focus has changed towards online gaming. Another example is the MW series because many aren't interested in the single player and some don't even bother and jump online. Now racing games have also changed because career leaderboards has become standard.

So what im basically saying is if GT5 was released in 2000 I would be very happy with the gameplay. However these days I don't find replaying events numerous times just for the sake of extra credits enjoyable if there isn't any leaderboards especially friends leaderboards. I would go as far to say that if GT5P has recieved updates which included more cars and tracks then in my opinion GT5P would be better than GT5. Simple reason is at least GT5P had time trial leaderboards and online matchmaking.

If you disagree then like PD/Kaz you are also stuck in the past and haven't played the likes of Forza or even TDU which was another game that had an abundance of career leaderboards.

Two months later and, at this moment, 50% are bored or playing sporadically...

and we are people in a fan site!... again, well done PD, you did it... :ouch:

I need more tracks in this game (Spa) . I´m bored because i only have the Endurance races to do , already have the Red Bull car and a nice garage . I only play this game to make a few laps in Nurburgring or to play online with friends .

I agree with all of your post. I had written before GT5 would have been received as an excellent PS3 launch game, but now...times have changed, gaming has moved on.

Last night I got disconnects in the middle of two really good races, I just hope I was unlucky because that would be the end of GT5 for me. Without online GT5 really is over.

Your point on leaderboards, especially with friends, is well made. Burnout Paradise is an example of using friends leaderboards, for street times, that brought a really nice little extra bit of competitive gameplay. There is no reason GT5 could not have done the same thing whether it by track, special event or license test.

Very interesting point you make about this being a fansite because heaven knows what the average gamer thinks about GT5. I would say very few of these are still playing GT5.

I forgot about Burnout Paradise. I seem to remember Burnout 3 on the PS2 had more leaderboards than GT5.

Another thing im missing from GT5P is the matchmaking servers. Much quicker and simpler to just select which race you want to enter and away you go.

now, i only play gt5 because the seasonal races.

1 time for week i put gt5 on my ps3...and spend 1 hour doing all the seasonals.....and wait a week for the new seasonals....

Myself and 6 friends bought GT5 on release.
3 have stopped playing, 2 have already traded the game in and the last friend has even traded his PS3 and GT5 in for a xbox360 and forza3.
I am the only one left playing.
I asked them why and every single one replied that the game feels old and stodgy. They said various comments about the fact that doing oil changes and car washes felt tedious. Although they enjoyed GT5, there were to many decisions that didn't make sense. Where was the WRC and nascar license?
Why is the top gear track so underused? Where are the stig times to try and beat? Where were all the courses? If you are going to transfer all the cars from GT4 then why not all the courses? Where are all the classic ferraris? But look we have full beam lights, horns, screen tear and framerate problems!!!! What was fun 10 years ago is just not fun anymore and that's what GT5's main competitor is, that gaming has moved on and evolved.
Kaz, PD and the gran turismo hasn't.
If Sony don't step in and do something then GT6 is finished before it leaves the starting block. It's hard to believe that what once was the market leader is not at the back of the grid. It just proves that you should never rest on your laurels.
The next patch will be the last and by 3 months no more seasonal challenges.
What really annoys me is that when watching the dev programs on GTTV, you can see the rest of the team sitting nodding when Kaz brings up and issue or talks about the game but surely some of them must have thought that what he's doing is wrong and here's a better way to approach it.
All I see is Kaz driving around the ring while his team make the game.

I play it less frequently but I don't ever see shelving the game for the next year or three.

With the UCD and Online Racing against non-Bob humans, the possibilities are close to endless really. Maybe I'm one of the few here who really saw the A-Spec and B-Spec as going through the motions so I can get some great toys to play online with.

I feel like people who completed A-Spec and B-Spec against the Ai and then shelved the game are depriving themselves and maybe missing the point a little.
