Rules are simple, Find a car for under 15,000CR. Just like top gear you'll want to find one as cheap as possible. Here is the kind of car we will start with. 2dr coupe. I will check in in a couple days so post what you get and how much it cost.I would like it to be presented as such year, Make, Model, Sub-model (for example 2004 Nissan GT-R R34 V-spec Nur) Now, Go get you cars. I must emphasize that you save some of you cr. for a future challenge.

I take it we will find out the next step at a later time.
Toyota Corolla Levin GT-APEX (AE86) '83
(5,375 CR) w/ 56,491 miles.

^Umm I'm not sure if we can call that a "coupe" but if the participants dont care it's good by me. We do however need a third Participant. If we do not have another by tomorrow I will stand in as the third particapant so to say a Jeremy Clarkson Lmao.

I wouldn't think mine would be what I consider a coupe either, but considering you only gave us 15,000 of our own credits to spend, what do you want? :)

Also the term coupe, means different things to different car companies at different times. All that to say I'm fine with it, since we don't really know what the next step here is, no one has a real advantage.

I'll probably be in for this, I'll maybe look for my car later.

^ very good point. We will keep it. (mock Clarkson) I will be driving the newest and best so far. A 96 240SX s14 with 37,641.0 Miles that I purchased for 9,082 Credits. First Challenge(you will have to stand in for the stig) we will compare our cars to A modern(as modern as the game allows) Coupe It is a Stock 350z on our set test track of Trial mountain. Post your 350z times and times for your car.
SVX: feel free to join in. I will ask however to avoid using cars that we already have participating.

Anddd SVX arrives. "Behold! This is Baby Godzilla!" I shout. "Right..." You guys say. "I, SVX have done this properly. As you see, this is Godzilla's sibling, the Silvia."

Can we do Top gear intros like what I've done?

Details:
'88 Nissan Silvia K's (S13)
158hp, no oil change.
70,480.2km (when bought).
Front engined, rear wheel drive.
The price for this package: $6,600
No aids on.

The challenger:
'03 Nissan 350Z (Z33).
286hp, no oil change.
Brand new.
Front engined, Rear wheel drive.
Price: $33,000
No aid on.

The times:
Silvia: 1'50.855
Laps done: About 5 altogether (did a couple laps, then I stopped, went to the menu and started again). Also had a very very close call with the wall, had to check the replay (saved it).

350Z: 1'41.019
Laps done: About 7 and a half (pretty much all in one go). Might of had a tinny tap on my lap (can't remember if it was this lap). This car is awesome!

I found this was very good fun!

Umm. Before I forget Oil Changes WILL NOT be figured in your total Cost.
As far as cost here's the standings
BH-21: 15,000-4,322=10,678
GrumpEone:15,000-5,375=9,625
SVX:15,000-6,600=8,400
Fbccars924:15,000-9,082=5918

Ok, So Here's My times for the two cars (AIDS off)
350Z(Z33): 1'42.xxx
240SX(S14):1'48.xxx

The Z was Briliant in that it Held the road wonderfully. But, It didn't like to let go and made it understeer at times. The 240sx However felt more like a real car with emotion and if you drove it in a way it didn't like it would throw a fit. When our Colleagues GrumpEone and BH-21 post their times I will give you the next challenge as well as start it myself.

I do wonder Which one is Hamster and which is Cpt. Slow

^ Nah I believe since we had a similar taste in cars we both can be Clarkson.
BTW, BH-21 I bought my own Honda City Turbo and am having a blast with it.
Edit: I will not Subtract wheels from your leftover balance as they have no effect on Performance and same goes for car wash.

Here comes the first tally of points
You recieved a Point for every cr. under budget you went and you will be deducted 10 points for every whole second you were behind the 350z time you posted.

BH-21:10,678-180=10,498
GrumpEone:9,625-160=9,465
SVX:8,400-90=8,310
Fbccars924:5918-60=5858

GrumpEone with your post(not your driving) you have claimed the name Cpt. Slow Sorry BH-21 your Hamster. Now, for our next challenge. You will take what remains of your money and try to get your car as close to the posted 350Z time as you can.

BH-21 has 10,678 cr.
Grumpy has 9,625 cr.
SVX has 8,400 cr.
I have 5,918 cr.
Keep track of your spending.
I would like to see a list of parts you applied

I bought nothing what so ever, didn't even wash them. Only changed the oil on the Honda.

What's wrong with hampters? :)

I vote GrumpEones post as the prettiest one in this thread. Good work man!

Well then I can probably do that with 3100 CR or at least get pretty close.

^ No my good man Your going to take what's left from your 15000(not including oil, car wash or wheels) and modify your car to try and beat the Z.
Edit: I fouled up and I will amend my time and points as My car had been modified before this. I had planned this for a while and had planned on using this car but apparently I did a few drivetrain mods before hand. I have figured mods I will be keeping into my final tally and I am going back to remove all of those parts and re-do my times as I feel they will be slower.
Edit 2:My time was only +0'0.283 slower (at 1'48.409) than My initial posted time. I am willing to still take a 10 point loss If you guys so choose by majority vote.

Ok, so Here's the fruits of my labor.
I had 5,918cr. I spent it on
Sport Exhaust/intake -1500cr.
Sports IC -1500cr.
Sports Chip -1000cr.
Race Flywheel -900cr.
Total left= 518cr.

Witht these mods I pulled just under a second slower than the Z with a 1'42.899. so I will consider it -1sec from the Z

I vote GrumpEones post as the prettiest one in this thread. Good work man!

I hope your referring to his car or his post. also, Despite Your Cars obvious power disadvantage you are in the lead.

Here's Pics of my car for reference.

I was driving by the monkey in the tree earlier and apparently my new exhaust upset the little fellow.

Good fun reading this :) I might have to try and sneak in and enter in the next one. (if someone drops out :))

Just waiting on SVX's times and Parts list.
Will have next tally when He post's
@Round the bend- I won't be in the next one I will be a judge however. Keep an eye out. we have two more challenges and our Final tally. Also, I would like you to judge our progress and act as a ref so to say if you like.

This is what I thought on once, but it's more money restricted (forcing you to buy a useless car) and tends to be 6000 cr or less

SVX
Is it alright if I do my time on Saturday?

Oh come on SVX, each step so far has taken only 1 day, can't you squeeze out 20 min. today to upgrade and push 5 laps to establish a time?

I would prefer not to wait 3 days to continue with the next challenge, I think we should move on, and allow SVX to complete the challenges late. After all this is really for fun (and is), and although having advanced knowledge of the next challenges gives him a slight advantage, but I think we all can live with that.

What the rest of you think?

^ I agree with Grumpy. But, We will move on. I would offer to take over SVX's car for this but, seeing as his times and driving skills are different I cant do that as well as I don't know what parts he would add. I am trying to figure something out for our next challenge as an un biased judge has not been found. We may not have a judge but, you can start getting pictures of your car at your favorite track. The producers want action shots.
Edit: I posted a thread in the photomode section letting the few guys there know that we need someone with an eye for photography to judge our material. I also Sent a facebook message to one of the photography students at SIU Edwardsville(a college near me) a message asking for his help. Editing is limited to Adjusting color and exposure.

How many pictures? What sizes (not too big, since at least one of the participants are 56k)? Can I used a GS code to change the color of my Corolla to two-tone red (red/black), (125 CR should cover a few cans of red rustoleum paint). or should I just adjust the car color in PhotoShop?

well, As long as the gs code does it before the photo is taken I won't call foul. My main concern with photoshop editing is covering up the ugly parts of your car or making it look a few years newer. Imageshack size with link to full size or you can go straight through your GTP account and use the pics albums provided.

You know what, never mind on the GS code, using it would set a bad example for the competition, even though the color code has no impact on the car, other than appearance.

I use Photobucket, I've had too many issues with imageshack in the past.
The thumbnail to fullsize, is not the issue, but rather the time needed to upload a bunch of images at around 1 MB, for those at 56K, even at 100% efficiency (which will never be attained), it could take upwards of 3-7 min., even Uploading of 3 pics would take longer than it takes to run 5 laps in these slow cars.

Not to mention the time requirement to take a bunch good, action shots. From competing in PM competitions, I know it can take a hour of shooting to get 2 or 3 really good shots, I'm not quite convinced those competing are willing to put that kind of time investment in, specially considering we can't get more than 3 shots in an actually PM competition week to week.

I up for the photo portion, and I'm sure SVX would be up for it (being the host of a PM comp already), but I'm not so sure about the others, and it may turn off future competitors here.

Just food for thought, keep it fun, quick, and simple, and you'll get more interest. My photos were included just for fun and presentation, not everyone is going to do the same, and get enjoyment from it.
