You could just carry on and I'll just do the both of the challenges to catch up.

Also are these shots of both the Z350 and our competition car, or just the competition car?

No just your budget car. I'll Have mine up shortly after I decide which ones I like. I got a little carried away with the camera. Also, You did know you could go to any location right? Or, did I forget that. If I did I apologize.
Edit: A problem has occurred. My usb flashdrive won't show up on my computer when i plug it in. So, I can't access my pics yet. which kinda sucs cuz the replays I got them from are deleted.
Edit2: Due to Unforseen issues I will be posting my picyures at a later time. I have to get my pictures again. I will be working on getting them back here in a few minutes. I should have them up before the night is up or by tomorrow morning.

Fantastic pictures GrumpEone!

That's no good fbccars. Hopefully you can get your USB sorted.

Are we allowed to also post the pictures in our gallery as an update? Just thinking as my gallery needs an update. Possibly when the photo judging is over?

Also, how many pictures do we post?

Yeah you did mention it, I did Trial Mountain, Seattle, and New York. And I'll do more, unless we establish a limit, 6 is a good start. And because you won't have your up until later (maybe tomorrow), I'll probably add a few more. (Sorry 56k'ers, but at least I thumb-nailed them at 300x175px)

Thanks SVX.
Kinda hard coming up with action shots on a car that hardly moves. Talk about the most lame, lack of follow-thru drifting, enter the drift at 80, exit at 20- at least in pictures it looks good.:)

As far as not putting the shots in your gallery, I never understood that rule in the PM comps. Anyway I don't think it should be an issue, it is not like this is a PM competition, with firm rules.
But at least you have a car with a bit of a style-line worthy of a gallery.

Grumpy- I hopefully will have mine up soon. There is no limit but fewer pictures would make it easier to judge. I'm Trying to keep mine down to 3-4 pics.

SVX- Your pics can be used for whatever you like after the comparo is over.

Has anyone seen hide or hair of BH-21?

Too much time in between rounds, do we have a panel of judges yet?

@fbccars924, I've noticed BH-21 lurking over the past couple of days, but haven't seen any posts.

I've been around, just the photo bug hasn't gotten me yet in GT4. Though I did spend over 2 hours yesterday trying to shave a second off a car with a tolerable setup already.

Besides on 56k posting one picture is annoying enough, let alone multiples. You guys go right ahead and I will watch.

Ok, then it will be between me, SVX and Grumpy. I got busy last night. I haven't even been able to turn my ps2 on.
edit: After the pics and SVX's time is up we only have one thing left before we do the final figures.
Usin the simple formula of price divided by stock power.
After that I will post our winner and our final scores.

I have 20 shots, what is the criteria for the judging, the overall 'Action' conveyed in the photos?

I need to pick a few of the 20, for judging, but without knowing the criteria, it makes the choices harder (harder than narrowing down from the 50 or so I shot).

Just narrow it down to 5-6. I've got 6 shots not counting the ones I posted earlier and ill have those up in a sec. Our judge is skython. Really the pics should be a product of your creativity.

Okay, 6 works, I guess my posted Tier I shots will be the ones to be judged, the other two tiers will be left for everyone's viewing pleasure.

A product of our creativity, I thought we weren't supposed to PhotoShop-up the shots...jk :)

I meant product of your creativity in game. my photos aren't edited at all. I'm sorry I lied I have seven shots, You know I just realized we used the exact same Z33. I used the sonic blue one too.
I also would like to Add that this thread will be set to be closed after we are finished but I will however set up another soon. I'm working out the bugs now in the rules and the Challenges.

This is so even, it's insane, if it was all down to one shot in particular, GrumpEone has it all wrapped up, but for consistency throughout the 6 or 7 shots, it's even, I will announce a winner by midnight (that leaves 8 hours and 20 minutes)

I'm doing the time Figures now. You get 20 points for every second you gained on the 350Z's time.
Points are as follows(in standings order)
Grumpy-9,716+41=9757
SVX=8,390+41=8431
Fbccars =5,958+42=6000(wow i'm behind)

Also, We will figure in bang for your buck. So Price divided by Horse Power(U.S.) and you will recieve the amounts whole number in points (65.6= 65 pts awarded)
Grumpy=41 points (5375/129=41.xxxx)
SVX=41 points (6600/158=41.xxxx)
Fbccars= 42 points (9082/216=42.xxxx)

@ SVX when you have your pictures in we will finish out the picture challenge and I'll post the final scores.

After skython posts his ruling I will post final scores.
1st place= 150pts
2nd place= 100pts
3rd place= 75pts

Grumpy-9,716+41=9757
SVX=8,390+41=8431
Fbccars =5,958+42=6000
So with the final challenge score determined here are the final points and standings tally.

Grumpy-9907pts.
SVX-8531pts.
Fbccars924-6075pts.

Grumpy You have won the Top Gear comparo.
Now, For the hardest part, Should I do this again or did it bust?

Well, it's a good concept, but you were kinda winging it as you went, it would go better with distinct rules and direction.

The photo portion kind of killed it's momentum, as we were flying through challenges, one a day, and the photo portion stalled everything. The photo-shoots take a ton of time, and really had little impact on the final standings.

Quite frankly I stole my win, by choosing NOS as one of my part upgrades, but it was the part that would make the biggest impact on a single lap time, with such low powered cars.

The changes I would make the next time around, if there is a next time:

1.) Start with more credits, say 100,000. This would give far more options for nicer cars, and better upgrade options.

2.) disallow NOS as one of the part options.

3.) More challenges and less photos. I think nobody expected a photo portion, like BH-21, and expected all racing, which is what the challenge should be about.

4.) Have all the challenges planned out ahead of time, and a deadline for each posted.

5) The host or a featured driver (possibly the previous winner) handle the control car and times.

Those are just some ideas off the top of my head, to make it run smoother and more orderly.

I agree, the photo portion did kill it. I was kinda winging. I had an idea of what I wanted to do but I was mainly winging it in terms of execution. I was planning a similar thing only it would have a 50,000cr. budget. The no nos idea is a good one. The low initial budget was to get you to buy used like the guys on Top Gear. I wahs originally thinking of a 20,000 budget. Any ideas would be appreciated and will help determine if there is another Comparo. also, as far as the control driver I was thinking about using my bob driver as he's is alot better than me and I represent the average driver and I have an Unlimited budget in game so I can buy any car needed If I don't already have it.

My observations:

1) The photomode bit killed it. It took too long, and must have been tricky to judge, and near impossible to score numerically.

2) The "producers" and competitors should be totally seperate. i.e. the organiser of each comparason should be just that, and not a competitor. perhaps have the winner sit out the next round by organising it?

3) The "producers" didn't seem to have everything planned out in advance. A set of challenges, and scoring system for each needs to be properly thought out before the start.

4) The challenges available in GT4 are rather limited. No means of gaining/losing points for reliability, electrical faults, repair costs, insurance costs etc etc etc.

5) Everyone used a different Stig! For consistency there can only be one Stig. Either the non-competing organiser should set the time themself, or use a max-skill Bob as the Stig. If Bob, then laptimes for all cars in stock form are already available at Trial Mountain, Tsukuba and Motorland here.

All that said, I think it is an interesting idea, and have been thinking about it since you started. I now have a reasonably solid 5 part challenge in my mind, and could run it as the "producers" without even having to switch my PS2 on!

Sounds interesting Car-less. Maybe the others are interested as well, but we wouldn't want to steal Fbccars924's thunder. Maybe you two could collaberate.

Actually, I would like to give car less a shot with it. I think that we could start this again with set time constraints for completeing challenges. Nothing against SVX but that also killed the momentum of it. If grumpy Doesn't want to be a producer you can go on ahead and start the challenges as soon as you like.

Since there was nothing except photo-shoot left, SVX's delay in posted times really didn't impact anything. I thought we were going to have more challenges after the Photo part.

Car-less feel free, if you have a plan in mind, to run as producer/host. I make a better competitor than host, plus it would take me a few days of planning to come up with a solid scoring system.

Maybe Car-less and fbccars924 should exchange some PM's, beat their heads together, and let the best plan spill out.:)
