What are your thoughts on Special Stage Route 7?

Waste of development time? Cool drag strip? Boring piece of 🤬?

I personally would have loved it if it had actual stuff in the background. Right now there's only a couple buildings scattered about and it looks like a bridge suspended in the middle of nowhere, literally. Feels unfinished. :indiff:

EDIT: PD should pay the Japanese government an insane amount of money to clear the Bayshore Route for a day so they can scan it and put it in GT6.

-Yo Kaz, we need 2 tracks moar
-Just scan some highway over there and add a rain version
-Gud idea.

100% real, I swear.

It's really boring IMO. It's just a glorified drag strip. Would have been a way more enjoyable track if it was a big highway system similar to the ones seen in the Tokyo Xtreme Racer series. Different highway layouts would make different tracks.

I just treat it like a test track to see the highest speed your car can reach. Nothing surprising about this track, I wish they put Spa Francorchamps or Silverstone instead of this boring highway.

Well for me it makes good photos, but they need to change the sky (ssr5 too) and add alot more buildings, big gloomy ones haha. Not my favorite track but, I use it every once in awhile.

Yeah bad track. Not worth more than 2 laps in a race. A daylight version with scenery would be much better.

I want SSR7+4 back, 'f ya know what I mean.

50 seconds into this video, exact same bridge style as SSR7.

It is a very fast track for sure and OK for some races, but most of the time in races I just run away from the AI. Superspeedway Daytona does a much better job in that respect (now put the gun down).

I've only played this track 3 times.

Testing the top speed of my 787, X2010, and a photomode session.

Pretty boring, pretty useless to drag without a proper tree anyway.

What a great road. I'd love to see, as you said, the whole Bayshore Route in the game, along with dynamic weather and time.

I play Wangan Midnight Maximum Tune 3 rather alot, and something like this would make me feel right at home.

Agreed. 👍

I also have that Maximum Tune nostalgia with me everytime I go and play GT5.

While the initial idea of a new SSR seems interesting, I hoped it would live up to the greatness of SSR11 (GT1 Spec) and SSR5. With my expectation in mind, SSR7 isn't as good as either of them. It's too plain, too long, not used in A-Spec/B-Spec events. It's kinda there for online and for Arcade mode. While I've had very good shuffle races there online (in the wet), the track itself lack excitement and a true catch which most GT originals had. And besides, if I wanted to drive on a track like SSR7; I'd go out and buy Tokyo Extreme Racer 3 and drive around the Wangan, because that's what SSR7 is pretty much.

Tl;Dr: Meh.

Imo, it's so boring I'd rather drink bleach or hit myself repeatedly in the face with a house brick, preferably both! The one good thing about it is the fact that it's the only track where PD implement reflection mapping on the road surface in the wet, it actually looks wet unlike all other tracks in the game.

SS7 Is fun with the right community.

I wish there were more people interested in driving it, it's a lot of fun with 16 people all with street cars.

In fact, a lot of fun with all the drafting, of course...it has to be clean.

This is what I'm talking about! When you have buddies driving with you ssr7 is a blast. I remember in my league where me and my bro did battle to the end of the tunnel and had slow standard cars played by my other buddies as traffic. It was very intense trying to dodge traffic and get to the goal. Do you guys play online?

I can see it now.

News: The Bayshore Route is closed today.

Angry people: Bot we have to go to work and school!

Gov't: Don't look at us, you guys wanted a better highway stage so now your getting it!

Kaz: *laughs evil laugh*

Back on topic, I think it was made to appeal to the people who like racing on highways, one of them being me. Though they could make it more interesting.

I'm one of the highway racers too. Playing a highway-racing arcade game for months as I've said earlier, I'm no stranger to the Tokyo Metropolitan Expressway. 👍
