I'm going to write an e-mail to Sony!

UPDATE: It looks like this story will have a happy ending after all. Thanks to those who participated, but it looks like Kaz and PD got the message a little faster than I thought they would.

And I don't care if they don't answer it! So join me!

As you may have noticed, the upcoming GT5 DLC is the victim of incredibly greedy implementation which requires you to re-buy it if you want more of the paint chips, more of the DLC cars, don't like the randomly chosen colors of your cars, or have multiple accounts. Kaz has pointed the finger at Sony, but his wording is confusing.

Whatever it means, we need to let Sony know exactly what we think of their decision: IT SUCKS!

Later today, I will set up an e-mail account to which you can send your letters of complaint. They will be edited for language and legibility, then sent on to Sony. But until (or even after) I get the e-mail account set up, you can post complaints here to be collected when I set it up.

Remember, with our support Kaz and his team have a better chance of getting their way with Sony... so let's do it!

I have two PSN id's. One for myself , and one that i race against my brother on. My brother also has his own account. In other games , such as COD , you can share the DLC on up to 5 accounts on the same PS3. But Not GT5.

Really annoying.

Actually it's even all accounts on 5 PS3s
Edit: It even says this in the download info for the GT5 DLC, so IMO they will HAVE to make it unrestricted

I nominate this thread as "thread if the week" this is ridiculous, and i'm pointing at Sony.. I don't know for sure, but it seems logical.

<rant angry="yes">

I went to buy the DLC tonight. Not enough funds. Add funds. Card invalid. Update card details. Can't remember PSN password (set in hurry and complicated). Can't reset PSN password. PSN password service down. Can't change card details. Can't buy DLC.

****ing incredible. SONY SORT YOUR ****TY SERVICE STANDARDS OUT.

</rant>

No one ever told us we could use the items more than once. That was an assumption made by everyone here.

That doesn't change the fact, but I see your point.

$60 dollors in PSN cards to get my kids and I DLC for a game that cost $60 new and came with 1000+ cars, and 60+ tracks. Now the game cost $40 and the DLC would cost me more than the game for 2 tracks and 15 cars. WTF.

While I applaud you for doing something I am afraid there is nothing they can do (even if they wanted to).

It is a daft Desicion but there is nothing to do .

Sony should sort their stuff out because of your incompetence?

DLC is just a way for making easy money, so i usually don't buy them. but is really wanted spa :guilty:

Sure, silly of me to not write my PSN password down but these things do happen. Which is why we have a password reset system. Or did have.

EDIT: And to be fair, I wouldn't have had to cancel my registered card on the account if Sony had encrypted the data stored on their customer information database. So to me, it feels like a bit of a rip. I didn't complain when I had to change my card but to be messed around yet again is becoming tedious. (If you combine that with the ridiculously long wait for GT5 it all adds up).

Here is the kicker. My sons card is in the PSN store waiting for the DLC. There twins, so this is going to get nasty I can see it now. :nervous:

With Sony, sometimes things get complicated.

Has any of you thought that it MAY be possible to dupe the paint chips?

Add DLC to account, It downloads.
Save game -> Transfer to USB stick -> send to dupe account -> copy save back to PS3 -> load up GT5 on dupe account -> gift back -> ???? -> PROFIT.

but from what ive read you cant gift.

That still doesn't fix the problem of the DLC cars. If you wear them out, you want more than one, or you just don't like the color the game gives you, tough luck.

That's right. On the top zero warning about the lock in the PSN store. 👍

I bet they delayed it for the US because the US guys had a brain & feared a lawsuit.

I should point out here:

If you download from PS Store, there is no warning of it being a single ID DLC. Therefore it is ILLEGAL according to the UK 'Sales and Supply of Goods Act 1987'.

There is a warning though.

taken from another thread.

is that illegal? And why is it?

Because the exact terms must be shown before purchase. It is also in the breach of the Distance Sales Act (Or something like that), because any goods that are not to the standard that is said (Or do something unwanted that is not mentioned, i.e. Locked to 1 ID), MUST be refundable. However, that is for goods... I'm not sure if that law applies to downloadable goods. But it may.

And that warning is IN GT5. I didn't start GT5 before I had purchased the product. There was no warning in the PS Store.

Its in HUGE letter at the news page of this very site also.

But not everyone who will buy the DLC will be from this forum, or even know of it. The fact of the matter is that there should be a clear explanation as to what the DLC's limitations are in the location where it is bought.

GTPlanet is no affliated in any way with Sony I believe. Therefore the message in the news (Which came up WAY AFTER I bought the DLC) does not have any meaning. Only ones that matter are those on GT5 (Where it is there, not well though, so it could be in a breach of law), and the one on PS Store (Where it IS illegal). Anywhere where something can be purchased online, a T&C must be supplied, be is shipping costs, or how long it could take, or how the content works.
