..and I'm not talking about japanese to english.
Sitting here watching the 'demonstration' that runs when you just leave gt5 alone from the main menu, and I am treated to Kazunori's personal dreamrace with the ferrari 330 P4 Race Car '67, ford Mark IV Race Car '67, and jaguar XJ13 Race Car '66 making up a field of 8 racecars, all pounding the pavement at Fuji Speedway. Love that course.
Combine this beautiful scene with Kaz's statement from this GTP article from late summer 2010..
"The remaining four cars were special to him. First is the Ferrari 330 P4 '67, which locked out the podium in the 1967 Daytona 24hr and is one of Kazunori's personal all-time favourite cars. Second was the Ford Mark IV Race '67 which, at the end of that season, finally beat the P4 at the Le Mans 24hr. Third was the Jaguar XJ13 Race '67, which was conceived and developed as a Ferrari-beater but never made it to track. Kazunori's inclusion of this car is to allow drivers to recreate "what if" scenarios."
What happened to that world-beating concept? It's obviously something that was very dear to him- particularly with these three historic vehicles.
Where can we experience this race in the game? The closest option is the A-spec Historic Racing Car Cup in the Expert hall- and they somehow found the wisdom to include the 2J race car in there to make sure that no fun can be had if you want the possibility of, you know, winning.
I know that trying to explain some of the illogical decisions that have come out of Polyphony's offices would be like explaining the dynamics inside of a quark particle, but I'm pretty sure a quark has some sort of structure!
Kaz is surely talking about an Event Creator. Such an excellent and easily-implemented tool would quickly turn this game from a very limited and tedious racing experience to an unbelievable, infinite experience. We have 1000 (one thousand!) cars at our disposal, but no real usable avenues with which to have fun with them. Arcade mode is there- but try and take a 1970 Hakosuka to the track looking for similar competition and you'll be greeted with everything from a '54 Mercedes to a Mazda Kusabi Concept car from '03! Hardly the 'what-if scenario' that anyone could really get out of bed for...
Help us out Kaz. We only want to do what you TOLD us we'd be able to do.
(btw, have a quick read through that entire article. It's very interesting with our 20/20 hindsight goggles on. Unless your a totally blind fanboi, then please, maintain the sanctity of your universe and move along..)
