How should pre-qualifying be for TOCA7?

  • Keep the TOCA6 Quali Race format, it's fine.

  • Run a regular quali session instead for positions 13 downwards.

January 2013 will see TOCA7 - the 7th season of TOCA on GTPlanet.

Suzuki have had experience in low budget racing series with the Swift platform, but it's big brother here is ready to take to the TOCA stage. Embracing the new open TOCA regulations for 2013, the Suzuki Swift features adjustable rear aerodynamics, and a ultra-light bodyshell that makes it the most nimble car ever seen in TOCA. The small engine is helped out by a massive turbocharger that boost power output by over 30% to exactly 305hp.

BMW have a great pedigree in touring cars and in TOCA dominated with the 1 Series in the first season of the new-regs TOCA, back in TOCA3. This season they re-emerged with the 1 Series tii, which received a performance break recently as a result has got two wins this season. Always popular, BMW returns for TOCA7 with the 1 Series tii, which given its strong showing of late, will certainly be a title contender in 2013.

Infiniti and parent company company Nissan have always had some support for TOCA. The Infiniti G35 debuted in TOCA3, with two wins following in TOCA4 before Nissan tried the unsuccessful Nissan 350GT the next season. The G35 has proven a strong midfield runner on its return this season, but development for next season moves to this - simply dubbed the "Infiniti Coupe", based on the Infiniti Coupe Concept, a wonderful swooping body and huge windows make this a distinguishable car on track. The engine is punchier than its predecessors and with it's smooth NA powerband, this might be a title contender come TOCA7.

CARSHondaCRZ.gif

Honda's CRZ is a hidden gem. Only one has consistently participated in its debut season of TOCA6, and it has been consistently top 5 material. With a massively rapid top speed, and nimble body, surely more will move to the little japanese rocket.

CARSMiniCooperS.gif

Mini had an unsuccessful debut with the cumbersome Countryman in TOCA4, and return with a Prodrive-developed Cooper. Whilst out the box it only develops 288 horsepower, its much lighter than its predecessor and its engine has much more of a punch. In every respect this is refined and improved and a car to watch for next season.

TemplateCARSMazda.gif

The Atenza has participated in every single season of TOCA in one form or another and the old warhorse will continue into TOCA7. Will it be able to recapture its past title-winning glories or will it fade into oblivion? Only time and TOCA7 will tell.

VW has been pegged back. It would not have made it otherwise.

TemplateCARSAudiTT.gif

Audi make their TOCA debut in TOCA7 with the first 4 wheel drive car since the Mazda Atenza of the old TOCA era in TOCA1. The Audi lacks a little bit of speed in comparison but the amazing chassis and 4WD roadholding ensure that it will be on the pace. In the wet, this car may just come alive.

TemplateCARSVWSirocco.gif

The bad boy, the most contreversial car of TOCA history is back. The VW Scirocco was banned after it was found to be at an immense speed advantage. With regulations having been tightened up since, The Scirocco has been returned to competition. When it previously raced it was fastest car out there, even after some tweaks it surely won't be slowest come TOCA7.

Actually with no mid season breaks TOCA6 is whizzing along. Anyways any speculation on the cars? :) And any idea's of things you'd like to see in TOCA?

Ok, so if 3 cars out of 5 are returning, and the Volvo is definitely out, that means only one of the others will have to go. Hmm. It could be argued that the Honda and BMW have somewhat opposite characteristics and therefore one of them will go.

As for the new cars...VW Scirocco? Mini Cooper? Citroen C4? Renault Megane? I haven't been in TOCA long enough to know why you had the Focus and dropped it again.

You also hinted at the Mustang, but that together with the Swift I cannot really imagine.

Yes, yes you've all spilled your hate already, I'll just get into my 2012 NGTC Focus with Motorbase livery muhahaha

You are only going to get my seal of approval when you run this:

I think Forza has the Volvo 850, right?

Yep. Plays in more tyre wear to spice it up.

So what you're trying to make is:
-somewhat putting strategy of pitting at the end of race in the case you go all out or save the tires to not pit or;
-trying to make mistakes more common nearing the end of the race?

Or none?

Nascarmanic I got there first on the Volvo Estate thing :sly:.

Post here ;)

Also Furi I refuse to test drive RM tyred cars with this little power :ill:. 305bhp + RM tyres = grip overkill/no skill needed. :irked:

Actually RM's will work as RWD will come on stronger near the end whilst FWD's will wear out.

Meh I don't care about that... RMs tyres are just too much with these cars.. Also higher grip tyres just make more understeer... Luckily I will never race these due to work :sly:.

Dammit!

Not really, maybe with the additional grip the Medium tires give it may give some other consequences that can equalize the field.

Understeer they do. :ouch: Also RM's were going to be in 4.1 which of course was a stillborn project.

It will be worse on RMs imo but we will see I guess...

So, let me get this straight - in S4, Furi removed wings and LSD because it over-complicated things. In S5, LSD returned, and now wings are returning.

I will have to test and you will all most likely laugh at me but this seems to have a strong chance of being my S7 car.
