I was asked to make a separate thread for this, so here you go. :)

May contain traces of nuts and sarcasm. đź‘Ť

As amusing as it is two things stand out to me:

1) The AI is clearly not the same here as in GT5, granted it seems to be marginally worse but it is at least different which may mean they're working on it and it may be better come the full release (at least one would hope so).

2) Did anyone else notice the jagged edges made by the smoke around 11-13 seconds in, maybe it's just from that particular camera / track / car angle but I thought this was supposed to have been fixed?

The engine is the same for the most part.
Refactored graphics, yes. But I wouldn't be surprised if a little bit of jagged edges still existed. Tessellation looks a bit odd on trees/bushes.

Overall though, a majority of tarnish in the graphics of the game have been fixed.

They're like totally targeting you, man. Be wary next time. Nothing like that should happen to any of your virtual cars again. You should be ashaaaamed!

This is not AI.

Clearly these are just placeholders. Moving chicanes with no ability to do anything other than follow the appointed line.

EDIT: I'd like to know how you managed to copy my post before I finished posting it...

OMG that is epic! Made me laugh so frickin hard
I presume that it's evidence enough that it isn't anywhere close to being the final code of GT6. We're still at least four, or possibly five, months off and people were saying that the "demo" shown at the 15th anniversary event and E3 were somehow evidence that GT6 would have great inconsistencies in the sound, visual and even some people mentioned the physics department - not just those ISR guys.

The demo AI is a placeholder for the real final AI

Ahem, great satire. I saw JackC8jackofalltrades mention in a comment somewhere on another site state, "Wait for all the replies that'll say it's an early version of the game uhherherdurrr..."

Mhmm.

except that Kaz has mentioned that the AI, just like the sound effects are all place holders in the demo. Someone had posted the part of the interview somewhere, just can't go out of my way to find it.

He only mentioned that about the sounds. The AI isn't anywhere near to how developing the sound effects are done over time.

Seriously though, no, you're not exactly right about that. Partly about the AI, yes, but it doesn't work that way.

You are wrong. He actually did mention AI is under development for GT6.
I didn't say it wasn't under development.

Edit -
GTP: The artificial intelligence of the other drivers, will that see any changes or improvements in GT6?

KY: “Like the sounds, that is something that we’re rebuilding for GT6. It won’t be the same as GT5.

“In addition to the things we’ve already announced, like the new rendering engine, the new physics, suspension, and handling modeling, the AI and the sound simulation is something that we are working on.

“As with pretty much everything in the game, we are going back to the basics and rebuilding it. We don’t know when the results of all that effort will come out yet, but of course, it’s not going to be the same as GT5.

“I know there were some rumors that the sound for GT wasn’t recorded with the engine under load. That was actually true until GT4 was produced, but for GT5 all of the sounds that we’ve taken were from cars that were on a dynamometer and placed under load.

“That’s not the whole of the problem, though, and obviously that’s not good enough for GT6 and for the future. We’ve been working on a new system for generating sounds for a few years now, we just haven’t made that breakthrough yet, and we’re still working. That’s what we’re aiming for – to make that breakthrough – so that we have something of a high quality to show.

“In terms of physics we were able to show that, but for sound simulation, not yet.”

And since when is AI coding NOT an ongoing process, Lord Protector?

Wanted to make sure Kaz sees this video.

AI is not too smart, seems to be strictly following an imaginary line.

If they where any smarter they get off their car and beat the cr@p out of the guy driving the other way, that's what i would do in IRL.

There must be a reason behind this, they could have used GT5 AI and be slightly better off. My speculation is that they are using bare bones AI for this demo since time trials would be the basis of the competition anyway. hmmm.

Bats, jacks and everything, just smash that car and pull him out and bust a last of us execution right then and their . IS HE CRAZY!!! :sly:

Even if the ai is total crap (which seems very likely imho) it doesn't matter so much if the game offers settings to adjust the ai cars to make them faster. Give them or force them to use better tires, add power and downforce to them and so forth. The main problem with the ai is not that they are utterly stupid but the fact that they are incredibly slow.

Also I would not be so quick to jump into the "it's just placeholder" bandwagon. GT series has a history of saying this or that and the final product not exactly living up the promises:
