GT6 Demo AI

AI is not too smart, seems to be strictly following an imaginary line.

If they where any smarter they get off their car and beat the cr@p out of the guy driving the other way, that's what i would do in IRL.

There must be a reason behind this, they could have used GT5 AI and be slightly better off. My speculation is that they are using bare bones AI for this demo since time trials would be the basis of the competition anyway. hmmm.

I know I'm double posting, but this is also funny lol just imagined what it would look like racing in GT one of the drivers gets out goes on a rant how he's tired and he's been doing this for too long.

The AI in the demo is the same as GT5's Seasonal event AIs. These are just cars following the driving line for you to practice passing. This AI is completely different from GT5's arcade AI. From my past experience the Arcade AI would try and pass you if you park in the road.

^ Agreed completely. This is clearly the same AI as in online A-spec. Nothing to get too upset about people.

I don't think people are getting upset. Just voicing their opinion in the same way you have voiced yours.
And in my opinion the AI as seen in the demo is what I am going to expect in the full game and as this is a demonstration of GT6.
I am somewhat disappointed as I had hoped for better.
This was PD's chance to showcase and this is what they gave me. 👎

But you and I may not be the ones they're showcasing to.

It seems to me that this demo is for the casuals. Nice easy events. Nice easy AI. SRF defaulted ON.

The problem will be if the full game is also directed at the casuals. And that question is still not answered.

Why is it not a problem? Where would AI this bad ever be acceptable or useful? I don't know why they called these events 'races', they're nothing of the sort.

Because they are clearly the same as online A-Spec. That is not racing. It's just time trailing with moving chicanes. It's not like the AI in Arcade or GT-Modes.

Yupp, and if you do the races over and over again. You are going to pass the same cars in the same positions on the same place on the track and they will hold the same line every time. Communist AI.

Actually A-spec GT Mode AI is not so different than A-Spec online AI. Booth of them park the car in front of you when you are close.

And, Arcade AI is Arcade AI. If you want to progress the game you have to use A-Spec.

Smells like GT5!
Downloading the demo right now to see for myself.

GT6 demo is not working on my ps3, and now I look at this AI and also those jagged edges.... :( well......... I still believe in those physics...... its just.. damn... we need so much time to make this game perfect.. the more you create the more place for error... endless GT cycle ....

PS.. about the AI, no worries.. its just a demo and they could skip it to save space or something.... it will be different, I m sure..

I hope that this is WIP or just "AI" for demo. I will be very very disappointed if they not improve it in final release.

The AI is in "practice" mode where you practice passing and they dont overtake or block. AI in Arcade and A/B-Spec are in "race" mode where they TRY and win, but they don't.

I corrected the post for you. Be sure to use proper grammar when posting to the boards, don't use '4' as 'for' per the AUP.

Did you try it? In that video it is obviously "train" after race. And there is no AI. I tried many times block a best drive line and the cars never hit me...

Desperate attempt to advocate PD is a desperate attempt.
Tell me exctly what facts you have to say "the AI is in "practice" mode" and why is supposed to be a "practice" mode AI in first place since there are no differences between A-spec AI "race" and A-spec AI "practice".

The only official stement we have is this is GTAcademy AI powered by GT6.

Well i really hope the AI that i encountered in the demo, was tuned down to "obstacle mode", just so the general public can get to learn the circuits...

If this is what we gonna get as in game AI in the final version, we can start downtuning our cars more than 50pp again; damn they were slow! I passed the entire field in the first lap :dunce:

More of the real time trial simulator stuff

Whatever that AI was I don't know why they bothered masquerading those events as 'races', surely they knew everyone would realise they were awful drones, exactly what they said GT6 wouldn't be, and get the impression the final game will be that bad.

This is the only hands on impression most people will get with GT6, you'd think they would have put more effort into making it something representative of the final product.

Well if you go in GT5 and do a race in arcade or A-Spec the AI passes a little bit while in the seasonal events and some of the license challenges they're like "moving chicanes". They just drive at a set speed at a set distance from the car ahead. Unlike AI in "race" mode. They probably did "practice" mode to decrease the size of the demo.

Got anything to back that assumption up?

How much size exactly are you going to save on lines of AI code? Are we talking tens of megabytes of AI code? Hundreds? One?

Because the demo was already 1072MB, and I'm pretty sure anyone who can download that much could download a little bit more for some decent AI. Unless AI is another gigabyte, which seems pretty unlikely, considering there are whole games with decent AI that are not much bigger than the demo.

This is for competition purpose. Have you ever seen a game demo release so early. As a matter of fact there is no final release date announced yet. We still got early hands for the physics for GTA competition sake.

The AI is better. They panic less when you get near them. I have yet to be braked checked by the GT6 AI.

The video shown is amusing, but as is typical in this topic, relatively worthless as it shows a very specific situation unrelated to racing. If there is anything to take from the video, it's that the AI has lost its alternate route ability when it comes to obstacles. I'd say it's most likely the result of work in progress.

Of course AI doesn't need gigabytes. GTR2 Race 07 and rFactor AI weight a few bytes bacause all AI information are made with strings and text files.

That user tried to excuse PD posting assumptions based on zero facts, as many others do here.
