As much I hate living in a world where Donald Trump is president of anything anywhere, I really do appreciate reading some well-founded nicknames of Jaffa the Hutt.Mango Unchained

Jaffa the Hutt. I LOVE it.As much I hate living in a world where Donald Trump is president of anything anywhere, I really do appreciate reading some well-founded nicknames of Jaffa the Hutt.
I don't think he deserves humourous epithets, it's distracting levity from a gravely serious situation, but I did independently think of mine myself. There are plenty of suitable, and acurate, short four letter words that can be used, but none of them are forum-friendly.
All good. But there are better.

Exactly.I keep getting this pervasive feeling that the very idea of liberalism (for those getting up to speed, the philosophical concept of liberalism - born out of the enlightenment and that gives us liberty, human rights, rules-based order & law, and itself the unique foundational principle of the United States, rather than the conservative fever dream of whatever happens in San Francisco) is close to its expiry date, if not already passed. We seem to be racing towards a weird 17th century-esque mercantile-imperialism "order" where powerful nations try to one-up each other for supremacy via trade surpluses and land grabs. The problem with that is that it tends to lead to a near-constant state of war. Liberalism & law based civilization will soon seemingly be limited to continental Europe...and there probably not even much longer.
But hey! At least facebook generated a lot of ad revenue, right?

Yep. But this time is worse (there's something that repeats itself as a farse). Back then, no one had nuclear weapons or the ability to commit mass genocides in an instant. Nation-states that went to war didn’t have anything close to the capacity to mobilize an entire population. Today, even a failed state such as Russia is capable of this.I keep getting this pervasive feeling that the very idea of liberalism (for those getting up to speed, the philosophical concept of liberalism - born out of the enlightenment and that gives us liberty, human rights, rules-based order & law, and itself the unique foundational principle of the United States, rather than the conservative fever dream of whatever happens in San Francisco) is close to its expiry date, if not already passed. To tell you the absolute truth, I didn't think Trump was THAT extreme. I thought the whole "far right" narrative was just a pointless beat-up by the left-wing media. Turns out it's the truth and I now wish to distance myself from him. It's a total clownshow.
Mitch McConnell needs to step down.
Where has a left wing media? I think I'd like to move there.the left-wing media.
The world-wide trend is not good recently, but this sentiment strikes me as a little too America-centric. I think the US is quickly becoming a cautionary tale that others can learn from.I keep getting this pervasive feeling that the very idea of liberalism (for those getting up to speed, the philosophical concept of liberalism - born out of the enlightenment and that gives us liberty, human rights, rules-based order & law, and itself the unique foundational principle of the United States, rather than the conservative fever dream of whatever happens in San Francisco) is close to its expiry date, if not already passed. It's nowhere near bad enough for that yet, we need the blood of mountains of dead, white, average income men, blatantly on the hands of the government before it'll move the needle. You'd be amazed how many people here in the UK just want a strong leader like Trump/Musk who tells it like it is.I think the US is quickly becoming a cautionary tale that others can learn from.
He did. He just had a poor landing.Mitch McConnell needs to step down.
