This is for competition purpose. Have you ever seen a game demo release so early. As a matter of fact there is no final release date announced yet. We still got early hands for the physics for GTA competition sake.

Yeah, that's very true.

No wait, what?

That could be one take, as a shot across the bow to the competition.
But I rather think that they needed an early release/tease/taste just to keep the large prior GTseries devotees enthused, the complaints about the prior release physics so well documented.

The AI is in "practice" mode where you practice passing and they dont overtake or block. AI in Arcade and A/B-Spec are in "race" mode where they TRY and win, but they don't.

Well that's one of the most creative excuses for mediocrity I've heard recently.

The AI is better. They panic less when you get near them. I have yet to be braked checked by the GT6 AI.

The video shown is amusing, but as is typical in this topic, relatively worthless as it shows a very specific situation unrelated to racing. If there is anything to take from the video, it's that the AI has lost its alternate route ability when it comes to obstacles. I'd say it's most likely the result of work in progress.
I think that was related to the problem of GT5's AI, because they did some "junior programming" so the AI would avoid obstacles and get of the gas; which in turn caused them to surrender when you passed them closely as they detected an object nearby.

Now that they took that away; we need a faster AI and one that is able to battle also (so one that actually realizes you are there and tries to outsmart you).

Get to work PD, lot's of improving to do still!

Wanted to make sure Kaz sees this video.

Any reactions or is he hiding in shame? :D

Again, I don't think that the demo represents the true, full fledged AI programming. I believe they are just moving pylons. That's not to say AI will be improved in the full game or not, we have no idea at this point, but I'd be unwilling to conclude as of now, that the AI in the Demo is representative of the full game.

Let's be honest it would be very sad if it would be representative for the full game no? So sad one would burst out in tears actually because it is that bad now...

What AI? I blew past these guys on the first lap, they're slower than GT5's arcade AI it's probably as fast as GT5's arcade c setting AI. They pretty much moved out of my way or damn near stopped when I took their line but at least they didn't do the brake in a corner when I was near their quarter panel like they do in GT5 seasonals.

Demo code is demo code, check out the replays and watch the weirdness on the wheels of the 370Z, and the odd shadow behavior. You blokes need to calm down and relax, this demo code is many months out of date, especially if it's based on the Silverstone physics demo(can anyone confirm). Sheesh rants and raves about flaws in a demo, even the Silverstone demo had pace holder engine and exhaust notes, sit back and relax. All I know is the physics feel great and the tire grip feels so much better I can throw the Z around Silverstone with a smile on my face, one thing is the body roll in untuned cars is a bit fast, might be me but I think it needs slowing down.

Note to PD, please change that useless roof cam and replace it with hood view, that roof cam feels like I'm driving with a fishing rod used as a steering device. I can't wait for the full game, need to lock in my pre-order to get my extra cars.

Why release a demo that is unrepresentative of the final product? Most demos I've played aren't usually too far of the final product. A lot tend to actually be the final product, albeit a dumbed down version.

Being that we are (hopefully) not too far from a GT6 release, I'd really hope the key fundamentals (ie. tires, sound, ai) would all be in place.

I mean, how long before release date do they actually start producing GT6 discs?

Demos tend to be older code, this code could be as old as the code from the Silverstone reveal. I saw lots of things in the demo that were ugly, in replays check the rims of the stock Z, it's built out of low count polys, shadows do weird things, body roll of the cars tends to be a bit on the fast side it looks very weird to see that, sounds cut out at different times, impacts with other cars cause sound drop outs. That AI is weaker than what's in GT5. Looks like elementary code without any sort of aggression dialed in, they all drive the same no deviation and will slow down if you get near their rear quarter panel on turns, no pushing of the car either.
Seems like this was more a GT Academy thing, with that Apricot Hill stuff tossed in there to make it a double duty release, a demo to try out GT6 physics and GT Academy tryouts. Should have just left it all GT Academy and released a closer to final code demo in September or November.
I hope that this demo is fully representative of the final product else that will be rather daft.

The AI seems decent in the demo. I sat back on the Grand Valley race and watched two AI cars battle it out for 1st place. They did a decent job of jockeying around corners and adjusting to each other. More than once, I saw one car jerk away from the other.

The finished version of GT6 could be pretty good if PD is building on that.

There's a pretty big difference between the AI playing with itself and racing decently against a human player.

And they're still ducks in a row the vast majority of the time.

Just to put out a feeler, on the new physics.
It wasn't to showcase the AI.
At least, I hope not.

It looks like all hope for the more competitive and aggressive AI, will rest with "Hardcore mode".
