Some of us do Mountain Biking for fitness. I do it for Liesure (SP). The thought of hurtling down a hill, over some jumps, the freedom, feeling that wind and then feeling the mud and rock as you hit the ground going 30-50KPH. It's all good.

I was wondering who else does Mountain Biking?

I don't get much time to do Mountain Biking. But when I do get out, I love it.
 
Yeah I like to do it a lot, my friend got me into it over the summer and by the end of summer I was beating him everytime almost. The place I've been going had the first and last third with hills. I think a good time is about an hr. but it's about 15 miles total? I got a pretty expensive bike so I'd like to do at least one race to get my moneys worth. ;)
 
I ride a mountain bike, not on hill's and sttuff, just on the road and bike track's. My step brother and I go for rides down to the beach for a swim quite alot.:)
 
I love moutain biking, I do it for leisure but at the moment I have to ride my normal bike after destroying my down-hill rig. I need to save up more money before I can continue hurting myself for fun.
 
I have a pretty sweet trail not even 1/10 from my house, I just go to the dead-end and the end of my street and it's right there. It's full of natural jumps and moguls and when I'm really pumpin' I can pull it off in about 25 min. The downside, my bike is garbage, but I'm getting a new one soon.
 
I used to go mountain biking, but after a couple of accidents, I stopped. Sissy me. :grumpy:

My bike is not in good condition now, front brakes ripped off, gears not working, it's so dirty you take one look at it and you'll think I bought it from a junkyard.
 
I have a Fuji Discovery-3 and I do some urban stuff...Wheelies...Endos(Stoppies)...180 Endos...About all I can do. Me and my friend go flying down this hill through an assortment of roads and twists and turns...at 45mph... I covered in scars on my legs......
 
I'm a pretty hardcore biker, lots of wipe-outs!! no broken bones but many times I have fallen and been told that its strange I didnt brake anything :lol:
 
Those pro mountain bikers are a nutty bunch. Where I live in Colorado there is a lot of mountain biking going on in the summer. The ski resort turns its self into a mountain biking resort.
The downhillers are especially nutty. They just ride straight down the hill. Some of their bikes are just amazing. Full suspensions, disk brakes and the riders are wearing full motoracing gear.

Insane.

yep, i attended the UCI downhill world cup last year..the pro downhillers are insane indeed....i cant watch some of the guys that are so so fast off vertical drop offs and steep steep mountain tracks...its something i cannot do...its so bloody scary to go that fast...i spose they just have no fear of injury...

I've got a RepcoSport Hawk. It's a 2002 design frame, so it's quite new. It's a sweet bike. 20 inch frame for me. I've only had it a couple of months. I also love pulling wheelies. I can pull some pretty sweet long ones. I'll have to get a picture of my bike

My bike is not in good condition now, front brakes ripped off, gears not working, it's so dirty you take one look at it and you'll think I bought it from a junkyard.

My previous bike is in the same condition. Except the brakes still work. My wheels are way out of shape, my gears are screwed, my handle bars are bent and it has possibly the most uncomfortable seat. All I use it for now, is parts.

I had ridden bikes all my life. Rode mountain bikes in early 90's, and I actually thought I could ride better than I could walk. One day, my $400 bike(can't remember which) got stolen, and $400 was a lot of money back then. I stopped riding at that point, period. :indiff: I tried riding my brother's bike few years later, but felt really weird.
 
I love mountain biking. I only wish I could afford a better bike. I plan to get some money next summer and buy a Kona bike 👍

I ride mountain bikes, I got two, one is here where i live and is a Kona which is super light as it doesnt have any suspension, and my second is up where my father lives and has front and rear shocks. I mainly ride for leisure and in some cases transport.

I also own a Hoffman BMX that I like to raz around on.

I bought for £255, out of paper round money,lol. Sadly, it has seen no real action as my friends don't really do mountain biking. I think sometime in the future (years to come) i will have to get into it though cos it seems really good.

Anyway i say how it used to look, because it's had it's fair share of tarmac abuse (ie: me crashing it). The gear switches have have the tops smashed off which is cosmetic only as a result of me going around blind corners to quick and hitting others. One side was another guy on a bike and the other was a car.

I hit the car as i (stupidly) took an apex around a bend on my way to my friends house, end result was me smashing head on into the car which was luckily slowing down for a junction. I got up off the already beat up Ford Sierras bonnet and shook my self off, apologised to the driver who seemed as shocked as i was and walked away. My front wheel was totally destroyed so i replaced the Alexrim wotha Mavic F519 which was pretty good.

earlier this year i decided my rear wheel was finished after too many kerbs and 180 endos. I was on a budget and couldn't find a single rear wheel to match the new front one within budget so decided to ebay the Mavic and bought a set of Rigida Explorers which have a nice looking spoke design but i'm not confident in their strength. I no longer ride as hard as i've quit the paper round (less kerbs) so they should be okay though.

The gears are far from perfect and the bike should really be taken to a shop to have them sorted i'm just afraid they'll tell me it all need replacing, which i can't afford as i'm trying to save for a car/ wasting my money on crap :dunce:

These days i just ride it to get around town and to work at pizza hut which is a 30 minute ride away, also college which is like a 2 minute ride away just for the rush of riding.

I like to ride Fast and enjoy kicking the bike off ramps like speed bumps for lots of air. I've kept the brakes in check so i almost always stop with an endo:D depending on who is around (don't want to look like a show off faggot to strangers.....all of the time ).

As for the fast riding the bike probably isn't ideal but it was the best i could afford. My dream bike is any lightweight, strong, hardtail, preferably without the Trial bike style sloping frame.

I raced that one a few years ago. Very nice course, long enough and it has something for everyone.

My bike's a little old now, a Jamis Dragon hardtail. Nice light steel frame, Reynolds 853 tubing. There are miles of trails right up behind my house, but all the cool single track is reserved for hikers and the horsey people. Mostly all fire trail slogging left over for for us mountain bikers, but plenty of climbing to get in a good workout, and downhills to enjoy as a reward. Don't ride nearly as much as I used to, but I still really enjoy it.
