:: GT4 WRS Week 98 ::

Things are a little rough with high winds here at the moment so I'll try and get this posted ASAP in case we lose power. I've yet to make an image for this week but I made a video earlier so I'll use that for now. Anyway, we have another round of GT-Mode this week, but this time we will be having less HP and using a set of lovely road tyres just to make things more interesting.

Thanks GPK.

I may as well post my test session splits:

1'09.404
2'06.133

What is this?? :irked: Ugh, FF car and N3's. :grumpy: Oh well, might as well get crackin'.

Cheers,
Jetboy

Lol, darn. I was hoping for some rain or something. Instead, you force me into a little car that has COMFORT in the name?! Hahaha. And I can't believe you didn't even put wheels on it!

I'll start giving this a crack right now... 👍

Thanks for the GT Mode!

Oh wow.

Haha. This'll take some getting used to.

And there's the NA vs Turbo dilemma... Power delivery between the two seems the opposite of what would be true, although the NA makes peak HP higher, it makes its peak torque at a lower RPM, and it's a HIGHER peak than Turbo!? Doesn't make too much sense. Oh well. Time to tune, baby!

this is fun. finally a car where i have time to prepare for corners :dopey:
to properly set up the car you can very well start of by using this tune from gtvault. already tried to tweak it but so far gearing is right (Vmax=211kph), tcs at 3 works just fine to keep the front tyres under control and the suspension settings seem fine too. the only thing i changed was changing T2 into NA3, accepting a 2hp power loss under the assumption that the power envelope works better at this track.

EDIT the t's of my first clean lap (horribly slow meh) were 1.12.429 and 2.11.278.

Week 98 Race Specifics: The green areas behind the rumbles are not part of the track
i know i'm slightly colour blind but could you elaborate on that a bit? i see some concrete behind some rumble strips but they are grey. or do you mean the concrete slabs behind some rumble areas?

I've actually decided to go with the Turbo route, as it's easier to come out of corners due to less low end torque, and it pulls better up top...

I'm not usually one for red cars, but for some reason I just knew it'd look good with some dark wheels on it. So I'm running some dark grey mesh centerlocks... :) Helps that they aren't as small a diameter as some of the other wheels you can put on the cars, it's like they're only 10 inchers or something for some of them!!! This isn't a Mini!

No aids(maybe not the fastest way around):
T1: 1'09.274
T2: 2'05.608

Something for the leaderboard anyway. Even if the updaters haven't been keeping up... :P

Oooo. N-Tyres. I'm in properly this week.

Prelim splits

T1 - 1'09.511
T2 - 2'06.068

No TCS/Aids are needed.

EDIT: (Sorry Kyle)
T1 - 1'08.699
T2 - 2'05.035 (Including ruining that crappy spoon corner, I hate that corner!)

This week suits me because I'm used to driving a slow, slow FF car. Although I still realize that this has over twice the power of mine....

  • Standard Road Tyres only (N3)

Is it intentional, or are harder tyres not allowed? I considered adding N2s on the rear...

Should be a blast. Finally N-tyres again, and the FF should make it interesting. Low power, low weight, no wing... Sounds good to me 👍
(What about their Vauxhall counterparts?)

metar, it already sounded like this was gonna be one for you this week.

chatted to brad who volunteered his awkward but effective settings and he agreed to post them.

new splits: 1.11.403 - 2.08.855 - almost 4 seconds off the laptime compared to the gtvault setup!!!

4.4-4.2
112-106
6-5-9-8
0.5-1.7
0/-1
4-2
no aids

and from me: auto 8 - bb 6/4 - fc lsd default - na3 (191hp)

how do you guys negotiate the winding first part of the track? brake touch or throttle lift?

Adding N2's to the rear could make it easier to drift the rear end round the turns. The week's challenge is to find some way to overcome the understeer problem that road tyres create by using the adjustable settings that have been made available to you. Only use N3's please.

I didn't have time to test the Vauxhall to make sure it was equal to the Opel, so I decided to leave it out. 👍

Had a short session before I picked up my brother... And baby, there's no better way to enjoy a full week of PS2 Access. Understeer or not, the (relatively) high power and N3s make the little FF a fun challenge. And like Brad, I'm in properly this week - with a submitted time.

So only Opels, N3s. Got it! 👍

And Brad, you're lucky - ours had (about 8 years ago) a third of what this car has. Now it's probably down to a quarter.

I spent a bit of time testing the setup at gtvault and found the default settings were producing better lap times. This was one of the reasons why this combo was selected. :sly:

And also at our last bout with Le Sarthe. It also got a few people disqualified because they didn't keep that in mind when they were submitting their fastest laps.

And Brad... Hmmm. Really? Wow. I'll see what I come up with. Stock FC LSD? The car should pick up some rotation with those numbers all a bit lower... I'm struggling to get it to rotate at all, but once it's pointed in an ok direction, I can power out without sliding off the course.

I will get some laps on this tonight .. looks cool! .. and a great headliner video from Jerry also 👍

...might have to unpack the DFP for this one :P

This car...is a pimp wagon!

Can't wait to give it a spin tonight. I imagine I'll be spinning it in all the wrong ways, though. lol It'll feel like a special version of a license test, I guess. :P

These are Brad's settings that he did THAT lap with???? They defenitely don't do the trick for me. Nor would they in real life, but this game is SOOOOO far from real life anyway(yes, it pisses me off).

Sometimes I lift off for the switchbacks, sometimes I brake, depends on how fast I'm going.

Ok, I don't know if I'll put any more time into this. The idea of doubling your street car's output, and sticking it on worse tire than you'd drive around on the street with and trying to flog it's 3" wide tired FWD overpowered ass around a track at 10/10ths is getting to me. I took a spin around the track a couple times with SM tires on it, and it was a much nicer drive that actually responds, would still definitely reward proper setup, and still does burnouts in 3rd gear. These N3 tires are too much like blocks of ice on a frozen river at this power level with 3" wide tires.

That being said, I chopped 6 tenths off my final time by switching to NA power and shortening my final a tad to take advantage of the big midrange torque by using 4th gear for some of the turns that I'd usually use 3rd for.

T1: 1'08.906
T2: 2'05.053

Did that on my second lap out with the changed gearing and aspiration, but then spent the next half an hour getting no where. This one didn't even have as good of a finish as I had hoped. I'll probably go at it again, but at the moment I'm done with it. :grumpy:

Re-loaded the Ubersave (switching back from hybrids). I kinda expected rocket-like 4WD accelleration, seeing as my last encounter with a similar hatch in GT4 ended on the other side of 450MPH...

One Ruby-Red "Mineral-effects" Corsa Comfort purchased, with the usual black racetyres.

And Leaderboard Initialized

Currently sitting on 2'08 with a bad setup. NA seems to be about 0.5 slower, but I dunno why...

I hate the Casio Complex. Actually, I really like the corner itself - but there's this road just before which I always confuse with - so I keep messing up and going in there.

I haven't done this since about week 3, but I'm kind of bored as far as video games go and I'm always up for tearing up a little FF car on road tires. On my favorite track too! Can't resist.

Are you qualified?
