for those who are new to photoshop or are not very good

I am new to photoshop and have noticed that I need some work.
Im pretty sure there are others that do too.
So I started this thread specifically for people who are having trouble with photoshop yet would still like to show off and learn and participate in competitions with the pissibility of actually winning.
-~-post if you are interested in participating in these competitions
-~-The rules here are simple,
~Don't post if you are really good at photoshop unless you are posting to help someone with less skill
~Don't make bad comments about others photoshopped pieces(you may say that they can improve on something)
~Remember to use the EDIT button instead of double posting
~Respect others

-~-In a competition, post "FINAL ENTRY" with your post that you want judged in the competition
~you may change your final post only once.

-~-I hope this thread is good and respectible by the site
the 1st competition will start as soon as this thread Gets 5 people that are interested in participating in these competitions
~the competitions will continue for a month before the images are judged in a poll by gtplanet members in a poll
~the 1st competition is expected to start On July 1st and is xpected to end on July 31st

-~-This thread is open to all photoshopped images, competitions may be mainly focused around automotive technology

-~-Please tell me if you have any comments about this thread

-~-here is my 1st completed and only completed photoshopped car

-~-Qualifications for the competitions
--you are eligable if...
~it is possible to easily point out mistakes or if the image just doesnt look real at all.
like mine for example
i can point out a lot of mistakes, the colors dont look real and the back wheel is at the wrong angle
-~-any further questions will be answered when asked ****

I think this thread is a good ideas for those who cannot photoshop very well. I'd be glad to help any way that i can.

1st suggestion, you really need a bigger photo

I will try my best to help the newbies (dont mix it up with noobies) with tips and suggestions.

And my first suggestion is the same as diablo. Use a much higher res picture, it will be a lot easier to see and work on. Plus if you want realistic looking neons, you have to use a real bg not something all white. It will look a lot more realistic.

ok
thanks to all for your help in the present and the future
how do you find out the url for the image you are trying to post to make it bigger?
nevermind
I figured it out

thats the actual size
that was my 1st ever photoshop
I dont have the actual adobe program but I haveone very similar
Its called MGI Photo Suite
it works pretty good
im currently working on a honda civic and a honda pilot

sorry for double posting I couldn't figure out how to host an image at imageshack with editing

when looking for a base pic to PS, it pretty much HAS to be at least 800 X 600. 1024 X 768 and up is the best size to work with.

There no point of making another competiton IMO. Just post in the Photoshopped cars. thread and we'll gladly help you any way possible :)

I was going to make another competition so the people that are bad at photoshop actually hav a competition that they can "compete" in ant have a chance at winning.
A competition strictly for those who have difficulty with photoshop.
just give this thread a chance to get going and you'll see that this was a pretty good idea.
after all, this thread just started yesterday

Yes but how would you define someone who was bad at photoshop? What requirements could you have to cancel out good photochoppers?

if they make little mistakes or ones that are not easily noticed
they are good at photoshop
if you can easily point out mistakes or if the image just doesnt look real at all.
like mine
i can point out a lot of mistakes, the colors dont look real and the back wheel is at the wrong angle
seeing that there are for those that are bad at photoshop, the deadline will be a month away
I am hoping to start the 1st competition an July 1st to July 31st

I reckon there is no point in a competition. Who cares if you cant win any comps? Its just a matter of practise. If you won this comp, you may think your a "better" than beginner and think your like great when your actually not. In fact, i dont think there ARE any crappy choppers here anyways.

There is also anohter great site for tut's. Digimods is a great site, not too many tuts but its really explained well etc.

as someone said, Pen tool, its Essentially Mandatory for easy curve lines. IMO, it beats Polygonial Lasso Tool Anyday. Here's another Pen tool read-up Allan Macdonald's Path Tool Manual-like read-up.

Emre Husmen Photoshop Rendering Tutorial - My resources to photoshopping cars... well sketchs..

Hussein Al Attar Photoshop Rendering Tutorial - My 2nd Resource..

I have no clue if you guys will find it useful becasue i know a lot of you chop photos rather than drawing from scratch

I dont use this site often but this has some photoshop work stuff too
Car Design News Archives - I found a great tutorial by Allan Macdonald on how to photoshop your own rims
