Great racing everyone in DIV2 last night and thanks to all racers new and old who came out! I had pretty much every type of problem one can have on race night. My apologies for the disconnections and any confusion. Big thanks to @JakobNascar88 for letting us use his connection after mine failed twice. Very good showing from JFRESH651 and deadbob777. With ANFD always consistent and challenging for podiums! Very well done gents with a tough combo . You guys all may not be Div2 for too long! Thank you all again for coming out! Had a blast!

I'm going to be gone next weekend so I'll be missing out (actually gone from Thursday to Sunday so I'll miss HST and Flex as well) but after that I'll be back to actually race in D2. Like I joked last night, I can't actually get promoted to D1 if I never win D2

@Severn Actually you can stay with D1, as long as I don't get screwed up I've proven I can win a race :P sooo stay away

Oh, last night you would've still beat me
Going into this race with next to no practice, the results will show that I was the last guy kicking around well over a minute behind. I started trying to play the Star-Spangled Banner with my gears

It was my usual story of spin, almost catch back up, then spin again...

Since I won't be here next weekend, I've got 2 weeks to practice with the M3 :mischievous:

I'm bored as hell so I created a lobby for practicing for next week #1472-4711-0167-3382-2154
Guess I showed up late to the party. Even though I won't be around this weekend I figured I'd give you that race you wanted

I guess I'll reopen it so we can do it, I just closed it literally 2 minutes ago

I got d-conned, then I just sat there trying to load the main lobby... Then I triple beeped... So I'm going to go put in some wife face- time.

I'm off tomorrow for Pres' day and the rest of the family is heading out for the day, so anyone wants practice I'll be kicking around :)

Two D3 drivers had the same "great" idea...

When overtaking another car near the end of a straight, it is good manners to leave the other driver his line, & stick to your own. It is bad manners to quickly swerve in front of the car you have just passed, take his line & brake. This is because you will be travelling much faster due to drafting him & will have to brake significantly earlier, the other driver will have almost no time to react by changing his line or braking point. This kind of bad racecraft can lead to many unnecessary incidents going into turns at the ends of straights, you will not see the more experienced & well rounded drivers performing this kind of manoeuvre.

You may be referring to me, you'll know me as Randy1122 in the races. I remember passing you on the straight headed to turn 9. And when I got back over I realized I had made a mistake. Not because I had to brake earlier but because of the extra speed I was carrying I missed my braking point and had to brake much harder. If I came over to soon and caused you to break your rythem I apologise. I thought I had you cleared by a couple car lengths. Again I an sorry for that. If there was another car behind me I do not remember. I hope I didn't ruin the race for you by making and inexperienced move. I always have to practice alone because of my work schedule and the only time I'm around other cars is during the race.
Thank you for posting the correct way to complete this type of passing maneuver.

It happened twice, and both cases it was on straight before turn 1. I don't remember this one on 9.
Well, I did the this very same mistake several times until I have read this post.
I had same situation (don't remember lap) in this race using this method, it's harder but can be done, I did it clean right before turn 1.

Edit.: BTW, you didn't ruin my race/night and you are very fast/combative driver. I remember you in Spa, 2fast 4me. Stop practicing man!

Last week I got disconnected during the time trial; this week I managed to get in two laps before the internet gods got me. UGH. Well, at least I have fun practicing with the car during the week.

Renault Trophy Megane Base Model '11 - Monza
DIVISION 2

Video Description: Once again, the Saturday night Turtle Race event provided the makings for a hot and heavily contested battle for ANFD. Running in variable weather with moderate rain on Racing Hard tires made for an eventful race. As usual, the Division 2 crew raced hard and clean and everyone had a great time.

There is a big difference between race craft and being a fast driver.

Here is a start on race craft https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/threads/the-good-racecraft-guide.183891/

Some background. I raced for 29 years - 9 years motocross, 2 years karts, 18 years roadracing (reached AMAPro).

I have seen many fast people come and go. Some just could not race.

A few things make the game much different than real racing. Until you have really raced, you really have no idea what it is like.

-You are not paying for every crash and broken part.
-You do not have to face the driver that you just ran off the track and destroyed their car
-There is no fear - ALL racers experience fear once in a while. I know, I have talked to them.
-Your mistakes do not result in the injury/death of yourself or someone else. Nothing more sobering than seeing a 15 year old lying on the track covered by a sheet-BTDT. I have seen 5 bodies removed from tracks during my 18 years roadracing, besides helicopter and ambulance rides. I had 3 ambulance rides, even mouth-to-mouth on the side of a track.

Got to go - I will write up some of the tips I used to give when I taught riders schools.

Great Video @ANFD, im actually very disappointed on how some D2 drivers were driving. Guys please BEFORE Racing with us, Know the OLR Rules, I dont want to type out a Full 5 pages on the OLR rules, we apply them, we dont disobey them.

Thankyou

I have no idea what occurred with anyone, just making a personal experience / observation from the last races.

I noticed when i was on the inside and tried to brake for Turn 1 at Monza in the wet, my car would try to swerve hard to the left. It almost caught me out a couple times and after that i made sure not to try to pass there anymore unless i was very clear of the other car and could safely get back to the dry, left line.
It was very odd and very surprising when it happened to me.

I just wanted to point this out in case it contributed to your experience with other drivers coming over on you under braking. Not sure if it was a result of gt6 physics or what, but i had not experienced it in this car anywhere else other than in the rigth lane at the end of the long straight going into turn 1.
