I'll probably miss most of this season as I have a long term visitor, so no chance to get online other than short bursts of GT Sport with the controller. Not a permanent situation so I might be back anytime. Cheers.

Poo to that! kick em out, I need my tester!

Wow, tonight was a really fast pace. Some of us are into the low 14's. That's outrageous. Guys, you better pick it up a bit. But mostly, find a consistent lap time because an off is no good to anyone.

Did some testing of the penalty system and it looks like the pit entry is a free for all. Enter at any speed. Btw, car up time is around 11 second. That's a good 40 liters without weighting for the pit boss to set you free.

Cya track side!

@Xradkins were the 14s with RM tires? Running some offline TT laps last night I could only get a 15.0 on the hard compound.

Yes, Whitey's Camaro was capable of 14s. I got into mid 15s with fresh tires for 2 laps but times quickly creep into the 16s and 17s as the Mustang brutalizes the left front tire. This isn't a mash brake, mash gas type of course, there is a lot of flow and getting a clean lap. I highly recommend spending some time offline in TT following your ghost. I discovered a few lines that I did not expect to be fast.

This helps too.

For my Mustang, I'm not braking for turn 2 and his suggestion of using the tires to scrub speed works fine. The rest of the lines and braking suggestions are spot on. It may seem odd to be really far to the left between 3 and 4 but if you do some TTs offline you'll see how you can carry more speed along a wider arc and get a better exit speed. The same goes for the final turn 9. You want to use all the track available and turn in very late. How these late apex turns are going to play out racing wheel to wheel will be interesting.

And if you enjoyed that movie...you can watch this guy make all the mistakes mentioned. Horrible lines through 3/4. Apexing too early on 5 resulting in heroics to stay on the track, and apexing early on 9 to make a pass which only resulted in getting passed back on the front straight.

Looking forward to tonight. Those who have their tire wear sorted (as in, not me) should have a good battle. i'm knocking off close to 1 tick per lap on the front left tire. I really wish I knew why the Mustang has no front grip...but it could just be that I'm over driving it.

I have been able to control my tire wear by short shifting and holding higher gears through corners and coasting through a bit. Its slower lap by lap but for me faster over the course of a run because i have more tire left. I can get up to 11 laps on mediums before i lose the tires completely if i take care of the tires and dont get lured into a battle for position. Luckily the pit stops are quick because we may need more than usual here.

If I leave the pits, and pull in at the end of lap 11 I'm down to basically 1/3 and 7/7 on tires and the car pulls hard to the right under braking. Those last few laps are 4 seconds off pace even if I'm clean and hit all the apexes. I'm sure I can give up a little at the beginning to save a little at the end...but it's going to be tough for me even with 3 pit stops.

It takes discipline but you have to be kind to your tires in the opening laps to have anytging left at the end of your run. When you see guys tossing their cars into the corners, tires squealing for grip, let them go and run your race. This race is a true endurance race. You cant win wheel to wheel you have to stick to your strategy and be patient.

The mustang is very hard on tires and so is the merc so you and bambi will have to be even more efficient with tire wear than the rest of us. If you can get 10 good laps in a run you will be at least on par with me, dont know what others can do. The camaro will be a beast here since it has phenominal tire wear. Wouldnt be surprised to see 2 camaros sitting on tge podium at the end of the night as long as they dont have any major issues.

The Merc is just awful all the way around, looking at relative lap times. /alonso

But I will learn and adapt. It's my first race and this track isn't particularly kind to controller users. See you all tonight!

Race day :) I'm feeling very confident with my Maserati! Definitely going to be an interesting race with all the different strategies in play tonight

See you all tonight

I plan to livestream the race

Practice was fun! BUT, let me be the first to say that each of us has different race lines and tire wear!!!

SO, if you think you are going to pass in a HIGH SPEED turns exit, guess what? You or the other guy is going OFF.

Please oh please DON'T do it. It's not that big a deal to pull that kind of pass off. Be patient, and make the pass with a good run INTO the NEXT turn!

Have a safe and clean race. I am looking forward to a great season. As it will be my last. The PS3 is just about toast!

I have to agree with xrad here. This race will be more about running your strategy to as close as perfection as possible. Then charging after others trying to steal a spot. Passing on this track wil end badly if you try to do it in the wrong areas (coming into any corner). Setup your pass attempts by exiting onto a straight faster then the guy in front. Or by being patient putting pressure on the guy in front and waiting for them to make a mistake.

This track will show no mercy to those who don't respect it.

I think the only turn you could possibly out brake someone is going to be turn 1. The rest of the corners you're going to have to make a pass stick after the apex. As outlined in the videos above, turns 4 and 9 have very late turn-in and are decreasing radius. I heard @thorracing comment more than once that he thought I was going to go off on turn 9 and I didn't. That's the fast line for my car: wait wait wait, then turn in, hit the late apex and carry speed safely onto the straight. No accidental pit stops if you hit the late apex on that turn. You need to leave some grip to spare as you approach the corner so you have enough as the radius decreases. If you see someone doing this in front of you chances are you'll bump them off track if you try to stick your nose in that spot.

I do know that you wrote this mostly because off my attempts , tryid it as it was practise and I would normally agree with you on the patience part (I allways drove like that and I will most likely keep on driving with patience) , and I wouldnt have tryid passing iff I beleived that I could outrun you with an good exit from a turn , but it turned out that I couldn`t outrun you with a good exit from the turns , so that`s why I tryid .... what would you have done iff you lost 1-2 sec per lap because off the man in front off you , had worn out tires , I wonder ?

Its fine to try things in practice, thats what practice is about. But i think clarifying good etiquette before the race is a good idea so we can have a good clean race.
