◆ SNAIL [Pack] Racing - Boost Racing - Where the excitement never ends!

First time me posting the results from the extra race we did at High Speed Ring. I like to do photo mode pics if the finishes are really close like they were last night.

Let's do it this way, their are now close to 30 members of the Pack Racing club. Would someone like to host 2 rooms so the room can be split equally. Aero said he was looking for the room but couldn't find it. We did this when Nail was series director once the series was getting more than 16 members. Who could host the 2nd room?

Pics are fine, they don't say much without context...could be the race for last place. But posting full results goes back to encouraging people to race harder again, which goes against the intent of the group, right? Nobody likes to see a list with their name at the bottom.

I will host the 2nd room again. I should have been in first in those results! But took myself, jag and x-rad out trying to push thru turn 1 lol

I dunno man, I think most people will race as hard as their comfort level allows no matter. When Nail had to put the group in check I raced ultra conservatively the following race, so much so that I couldn't get away from the back of the pack and quite honestly felt I was the only one respecting Nails wishes cuz I was witnessing plenty of minor contact still that night. I was bored out of my mind and felt like stepping away. Last night I raced HARD when it was time to race hard and I felt I was engaged in a very respectful race with the regulars I can always count on racing clean. I guess my point is, I race to win whether the points are scored or not. I'm confident I'm not the only one. :)

Well, I guess the group has to decide the intent and stick to it. If you market it as low key, we don't keep score, nobody cares who wins, come hang out just to learn etc...but then have hardline racing, posting results and such then you know...kind of doesn't match the marketing.

@racingchamp30 do what you want with the group, just call it what it is. But to say one thing and do another in practice isn't too cool.

Every time I go out on a track, whether it be in a game or in real life, I race to win. The main goal for racing is to win and be the fastest. As soon as I don't race to win is when I'll give up racing all together. Don't get me wrong, I'll race you clean and with respect, but I plan on winning.

As for the results being posted, I think you're taking his posting the wrong way. The way I see it, Champ was just letting yall know who was in the pictures.

Yeah, well, we all race when we are racing, but this series was famous for things like deliberately dropping back in the pack to try to race along with different people or to practice overtaking again. Because we are told it is racing practice, not a race for result. Difference ya?

I wasn't racing with intent to finish, but rather to practice close/clean running and passing. I could tell I was certainly not the only one.

Except several of us were not in the pictures. Why not just have captions under them? Whatever. I don't really care that much.

I just wanted to make a simple point that posting results is inconsistent with the stated mandate/goals of the group. If the stated goals are not the real goals, then make it clear.

Look at it however you want, the stated goals are the real goals. One posting of finishing order is no reason to get all whipped up about the main intent of the series. It is true that this series is a learning tool for most on how to race door to door and not rub a whole bunch, to learn situational awareness, and to figure out when to give and when to take. The same is true for quicker drivers, but we do all this with the intent to win. Successfully pulling off a last lap pass for the win, or driving defensively to prevent a last lap pass and finish first is learning all the same. It just happens to be up front with fierce competition

It's all in just fun Jaguar. The series will never change to be fun, no points involved and not driving too aggressively. Whenever a finish is really close, i will post pics and who finished where in the position, it won't change what the series is.

Was thinking to race tonight for 1 hour at Nurburgring. Which car would be good to use, the Eunos Roadster, Touring car or BRZ. Something different like the Mini Cooper '11 or Mini Countryman?

What I noticed with 24hour nurb is the very fast guys get lead and even with boost there will be very little battles for the lead. What about making nurb one of are 20min races. Have we raced big willow yet with Miata. Think we did brz/frs there.

What about Nurburgring with GP layout? Anything slower than the touring car will be like 2 or 3 laps max for 20 minutes

True but at least I have a lot of track experience and feel for the cars. Only way to know for sure though is to put cars on track

If it were me picking I'd take the regular roadster or the BRZ, the TC is really stiff for Nurburgring, and it has a ton of aero grip which will almost always be in full effect on a fast track like Nurburgring. (but at the same time it might keep people grouped up because of that)

I've never driven either of the Minis so I don't know about those. The Clio we drove the one time might make it too technical (left foot braking and whatnot)

@racingchamp30, @Mike Lobban, @WIDEeyedDRIVR

Great picture, Champ
Both Wide and Lobban were pushing me at times during the race, so I was trying to make Lobban move ahead at the finish. (note that my brake lights are on).

That car and track combination is always an enjoyment to finish the evening with ........ or something similar, anyway.
Wide open, not too technical, and opportunities to work in tandem to catch up with the Pack (and shoot past, many times)

Wonder if we could "Pair Up" sometimes - and see which Tandem Pair would/could win such a race?
"Pick your partner wisely, folks, you'll be with them for the next 20 minutes."
Just a thought.

That pass u made on me the last race 1st corner end of race was pretty cool tex, I thought I got threw corner good and u blew pass me in middle lane like i was a rookie lol. Maybe a Daytona oval race would be fun, getting to work with other guys in draft.

It would be interesting Tex to pair up with someone at High Speed Ring. I do really good bump drafting from behind rather than someone behind me.

So, if a consensus has been reached (that sounds dangerous), someone make it official.
That we are going to have the last race next week as a Tandem event.
And that Drivers should choose a partner before race time. That will eliminate someone being left out.

Hmmmm, what shall we do if there is going to be a Single left at race time?
I'll drop out, by intentional DC, and eliminate the problem - before that happens.
Problem solved in advance.
Period, end of discussion.

Didn't you just hate it when you were the last kid chosen when they were dividing up for teams?
