Don't have motegi

What do you guys think of the viper acr at Laguna seca?

Whatever you pick, test it with other drivers on the track. A car may feel great and be fun by itself on the track but it may be a disaster with traffic around it.

Zer0, I don't know if it makes a difference, but I voted 1. I voted late, and it probably got lost in all the disconnect messages.

Dragon, Xrad and ph7sher, I need your votes from last night please.

1

Okay, got both of your post-results post votes added. They didn't change the results of the elimination vote, but it's good to have the data regardless. 👍

Off topic but does anyone else think that Elon Musk is moving closer to making Blaine the Mono a reality?

mother of god. I better start working on my riddles! Damn you north central positronics! On that note, I have a dog and cat that like to sneeze in your face while you sleep. I call it getting "Shardiked." In reference to the bear just before the katet take it out. Ask those wiggly work things it sneezed.

I have finished reviewing and commenting on all 30 racing incidents. A couple things stand out.

1 We need to reduce lag in d3. It may be a result of poor quality internet connections from some drivers. Do all D3 drivers use a wired connection for the ps3?
2 We need newer D2 and D3 drivers to read SNAIL OLR and The Good Racecraft Guide. Holy smokes. I just killed over 3 hours today on this. Do you guys realize we actually do watch the replays???

I just spent 2 hours just on D3. I'm taking a break for a bit before I tackle D2.

When you review a replay, when you are considering filing a complaint, or if someone else has filed it, look at the incident from several viewpoints, not just your normal view. The third person (over the car view), looking back from a leading driver, or ahead from a trailing driver, is often illuminating and less self-focused on interpreting the data.

Ditto what he said, check out your "complaint" from no less then three angles, and also, watch from at least 10 seconds before. Sometimes there is a domino affect that can happen and who hit you may not actually be at fault.

As for lag, this is such a pain! Mostly because it's mostly out of our control. There are a number of factors that can cause lag that are not dependent on machine/user. It can creep up and appear out of no where. And worse, if you are the lagging person, you may not even be aware of it. It may even look like everyone else has lag.

Another issue I think we might want to bring to the table again compatibility. This can rear it's head in a number if ugly ways. The worst though, is when one can't see another on track. This can cause a lot of havoc. If you can't see someone, our if in the lobby they have a loading bar under their name constantly. Back out of the room and reenter. If this doesnt fix it, then both should try t to exit and reenter.

One more thing of note, firewalls. This pretty much guarantees there will be lag or compatibility issues. If possible, disable the firewall, if not be sure your ps3 has all the permissions and ports it can get.

Og, and clear your CACHE!

One of the reasons for lag in d3 is the amount of people and the fact that there are at least 3 countries involved on any given sunday. Did not have nearly the problem when we only had 7 on the grid every week

I recall issues with 7 people in the past. And I don't buy that the fact we have several countries involved to be the issue...exactly. Many countries, especially in Europe, have much better internet than North America. We are just now catching up to the rest of the world. I've been in many organized races with guys from 5 or 6 countries without issue. The problem could simply be someone living in rural US or Canada on a very weak connection and/or running the ps3 on wireless.

At one point, in the early days of SNAIL, didn't we ask new drivers to post their internet speed test? Shouldn't we do this now to avoid issues? Perhaps someone doesn't know they have a bad connection.

The current level of Steward Reviews is outstanding. I've, literally, been on the edge of my seat as they've come in while I've been editing my spreadsheet trying to improve my capability to track them all (now 31 incidents) and am so looking forward to seeing JLBowler's comments. I Hope Dabney, Djones and Chiochan chime in with reviews as well.

I pm'd Dabney about the sugarsync referral, but haven't heard back yet. I'll set up an account right now and do the referral later even if I have to make another account.
