Here are a few pictures of the Elise from tonights practice session. It's hard finding good pics here, as the track and surroundings are on the boring side.

@simracejesse and @KTR5

Same pic, but changed focus to me.

Very! VERY!!! dissatisfied with tonight's practice, one room had mic's disabled and started races after what felt like half a lap, how could anyone adjust?
Truly a shamble!
If ya wants ta practice, ? Maybe find a friend?
@Zero and @ kcebb; I hate saying stuff like this but this night just was not or "weren't like it used to be!"
at least you weren't present for last night's boost ON/draft STRONG/damage OFF sessions. Oh yeah and mics were disabled too. We drove for like 5 races before it was found that the settings were messed up :)

I was annoyed with mics off tonight though. It makes sharing tips/advice and stuff pretty much impossible.

Edit ; guess they won't ever now will they?

Tonight's practice was not at all what 'should be' as far as organization. I thought Fox was managing. I propose that we open 2 rooms (maybe 3). Red room D1-3, Blue D4-5, Yellow? D6-8 Thoughts?

If you are able to host/direct a room and belong to these Divisions let me know.

Also, in the past we had open lobby rooms as a method of attracting new Snails... Should we continue that?

Initial mock up of the rig I'm building based off of Simul8r's design. Can't wait to get this completed for some SNAIL action.

I built the exact same one (in my DP). Its awesome and really sturdy. One thing I recommend though is getting rid of the keyboard stand bit, as it isnt really very functional (too far away and your wheel is in the way anyhow) and requires less joints (and money) if you don't do it. Let me know if you need any help or have any questions on the design cause i'm really happy how mine turned out.

If you do decide to not do the keyboard bit I recommend flipping that T joint around so its pointing at you then just bolt some MDF through the PVC resting on the glued T for support, as your wheel base

For a room thrown together last minute , I think the host did a decent job .. we practiced the combos:tup:

I could host the yellow room. I usually participate in practice night. I completely forgot about it last night. I guess the combination of 14 inches of snow and no work yesterday was just too much for me. Lol

Yeah, for sure. It was an accident. I appreciate @dgaf95integra setting up the room. I am sure he tried his best and did not do that on purpose.

The mics on allow us to talk about things like laps and qualifying. Someone claimed they were running 1:45 at Mt. Panorama and I about fell over. Earlier today in an informal practice, the D1 guys were above the 2:30 mark. As a result of that misinformation, qualifying was 5 minutes long - with the prestart run, that meant a single timed lap. The race was also set to five laps, running about 14:00 plus, 4 guys finished within 90 seconds of the leader, 9 did not.

Without a mic, there was very limited ability to explain quickly why we needed fewer laps, a longer qualifying, and how that information was known. This is not a dig at dgaf, just one of the many different examples why mics can be a help.

Hey, @zer05ive -

Combo A - 4 laps
Combo B - 6 laps

Since you know how it should be done, are you willing to help coordinate or host practice? Ask not what S.N.A.I.L. can do for you, ask what you can do for S.N.A.I.L. :)

If we open three rooms, I'd suggest switching the room colors to make them better align with the division colors. Blue should be the fastest room, followed by yellow, then red. 👍

Also, Thursday night's "official" practice rooms should always be in the Open Lobby. If anyone wants to host a 'Friends Only' practice room on Thursday night, that's totally fine, just please don't post the room number on the thread so as to avoid confusing it with the official practice rooms.

Got it, thanks!

Yeah it happens, no offense intended to dgaf. I've opened up a room or two with voice chat disabled accidentally. It was just disappointing to have it in full rooms two nights in a row with different hosts. And I did also once host a practice room with boost ON for a couple races :banghead: Accidents happen!

My recommendation from running the Drivetrain Challenge is to set up a Snail room with all of the basic settings we use and then save the setup. From then on the room will always have the basic settings as default...just change the tracks, laps etc as needed.

I really enjoyed the practice sessions last night. I think moving down one divison brought me back some self confidence and I think I'm on the top of my game right now and was very glad to notice that I was only beaten by D1 and D2's in most of the races... and Chuyler, of course :)

I would like noting better than this. It only took me 5 minutes on each combo to figure out they would top out (alone in the case of the Alpine and with any draft at all with the Lotus). Basically what has happened is we have two guys who couldn't take five minutes out of their day to make an informed decision about something that would affect 90+ other people or we have two guys that just don't know what to look for when picking a combo. Way to go guys.

Just another result of people not bothering to do one minute of testing before letting the first idea they have fall out of their head. It's been happening since the beginning of S.N.A.I.L.

I resent all of this. I spent an entire evening and all the game credits I had (between last week and this week) trying out different cars and tracks and all people do is complain. EXCUSE ME for not being as fast as you. The '73 A110 is very close for me, only approaching the limiter if you make a perfect exit from the downhill or you overshoot the braking point. I ran 15-20 laps in this car alone the other night before making the decision.

Also, I didn't see anyone egregiously hitting the limiter outside the draft in the practice race last night. In the replay I noticed drivers would bounce it once right before braking and that's about it.

The lobby was great fun last night except my framerate drop on Bathurst with 16 drivers on the grid. Anything that can be done about that?

The racing at Fuji and Silverstone was very exciting. I hope my defensive lines didn't ruin the D1 driver's night too much. I've got lots of film to review now to see how I can shave time off my laps.

I do not think either side is going to back down or change perspective right away.

Please consider - to both sides - "I see we are going to disagree... Next topic!"

I am in both camps - things I like and things I do not like this week.

Next week will be different.

Agreed. The Alpine is not a problem re: the rev limiter. When it comes to the framerate issue, you can set your video to 720p. That's supposed to help with the framerate issues.

Cockpit view is also a drag on framerate, if you're using it.

What @dabneyd said. I am set at 720p and didn't see any framerate issues last night. On other tracks I have occasionally seen short bursts of slow framerate but not last night.

Does gt6 run native in 720p? What I mean is, is it supposed to ran in 720 instead of 1080? I've heard of a few games like that, and the ps3 will still try to run 1080 have bad graphical issues.

I use "normal" aka bumper cam. How do I change to 720? Not exactly what I want to do when I'm sitting in front of a 60" flat screen...but if it will improve things i'll give it a shot.

A few what?
