Eau Rouge put into perspective...

Sorry for the large post, but I was inspired by chuyler1's post to put Eau Rouge into even more perspectives. I snapped these photos during the 2010 Belgian Grand Prix after I made a pilgrimage of sorts to Spa-Francorchamps. Some of these shots were taken from an angle that you won't see any other Eau Rouge photos taken from. That's because there's a fence along the edge of that that section of the track that is completely blacked out to prevent potential loiterers (like me) from hanging around and stealing glimpses of the most famous corner in Formula 1. Well, while trying to cause as little property damage as possible, I was able to covertly manufacture a view for myself. Anyways, here are some of my favorite Eau Rouge shots for your viewing pleasure (and you can click on any of them to see the full image). I added some commentary as well to provide some context. Enjoy!

Before the race, Lewis Hamilton (the eventual winner of the race) waves to the crowd. He's followed by Michael Schumacher, who returns to Spa after a three years hiatus from Formula 1. Perhaps not in his current state, but there's no doubt that Schumacher had some great memories at Spa.

The Red Bull Boys: When this photo was snapped, Sebastian Vettel was just eleven weeks from becoming the youngest driver ever to win the World Drivers' Championship. He's followed by Mark Webber, who would do this to Fernando Alonso at that exact spot one year later.

Cool shot that gives us an idea of how blind the drivers are as they climb Eau Rouge to Raidillon. Kamui Kobayashi can see more of the helicopter is the sky than he can see of the track ahead of him.

I've only been playing the online portion of GT3 for about a month, so what might be obvious to most is still new to me.

The general policy of the stewards, when it's plain that network latency, aka lag, is what caused an incident, regardless of who's car caused it, is to treat it as a mechanical failure, which technically it is, and to assess no penalties in those cases. When a driver is seen to be extraordinarily lagging, as was seen on more than one replay from last Sunday, and does nothing about it, or continues to race, with catastrophic latency and packet loss, present and visible to others, it violates the following rule of the SNAIL OLR;

You are expected to drive responsibly in a way that’s not likely to ruin the racing enjoyment of your fellow drivers.

Continuing to drive with issues, such as what was witnessed by the stewards, especially if you've been made aware of such, is irresponsible and inconsiderate. To all SNAILs, sometimes, when a technical issue such as these is present, it's better to call it a night, make an effort to improve/repair the issue and try it again another day.

The Polyphony Digital Gran Turismo 6 Replay Lottery appears to have turned off the lights and shut it's doors. Thankfully.

Anyone know of a fix for the tuning prohibited message and the Red Bull Jr.? First practice race I ran I had to use C as A and B would not allow it. The next race it said C was additionally prohibited as well a few of my friends so we just drove the other 2 cars instead.

The deadline for a new driver to submit a time trial and be placed for racing this Sunday has passed. If you have submitted a time trial, you have received your placement message.

Division hosts: Please be sure to check the drivers list as soon as @Oshawa-Joe updates it with the divisions for the March season and the new part time priority list. Get your friend requests taken care of early and remember that both the person sending the friend request and the person receiving the request must exit the game and return to the XMB before GT6 will properly recognize the friend request. In other words, don't expect to hop on five minutes before racing, accept a friend request, and be able to race. It won't happen. With the scheduled server down time this Sunday night, all rooms must start on time.

If you are a part time driver, please take the time to send a friend request to the host one division above your division. If your room should fill up, you can run one division up for the night.

I believe in the 5-6 practices races I've done my best lap has been 2:28.5xx.

You need to first check in the official color/number list and make sure those are not taken. If they are available, you can enter it into the Google docs questionnaire to make it official.

It has worked flawlessly for me. I never think about connection.

The rookie license phase can have its road bumps with other drivers.


@Dragonwhisky the pay style service does have its draw backs. Well only one really. That paying real money. However what you get for that is a stable and incredible racing service.

As for content. We can easily set up a league that wouldn't cost a lot up front and progress into different cars and tracks.

Fixed set ups are pretty decent on most cars I've driven.

The GT3 series has a few tuners sharing tunes that are really good. One in specific really knows their stuff and shares weekly.

SNAIL could easily develop a league that would bring amazing racing with nearly zero connection problems.

I was able to play iRacing on a crappy, run of the mill graphics card, and 2 gigs ram. I've since come a lot further then that though. But the requirements aren't to bad. You going to build your own system? If so, add an extra sound card to it too. The extra 35 bucks that will cost will be well worth it when you want to add some tactile feedback.
