For the stewards:

I'll be MIA for seven weeks as of October9th thru November 23rd. Picked myself up a contract job with our MNR. So unfortunately I'll miss a lot of racing. But I'll be on the forums and back on the 23rd. The internet I'll have won't be strong enough for gaming. Just so you're aware 👍

Doh, missing racing is not acceptable ;)

Thanks for letting us know 👍

Come on join the hotel racing club like me.

Bravo to Division II and III to be exemples for others! But please, cover Division V with tar and feathers. Dammit :grumpy:

Just because no incidents were reported doesn't mean Division III was a clean group. Well it was with the exception of one person...

If you don't report incidents when you see them, you have no one to blame but yourself if your division doesn't run clean.

I see your point but I disagree. You can't blame me for someone else driving dirty. I only have 1 set of pedals and 1 wheel that I can control.

By not reporting an incident, you are telling the other driver that their behaviour is acceptable and it will only continue. If you're not part of the solution, you're part of the problem. Always report any incident that you witness and feel is dirty.

This isn't directed at qwietstorm as an individual, but rather at the entire SNAIL community.

Where are we with the the qualifying with slipstream issue? I didn't enjoy the process we used last night and I think it was a whole lot of stress for little return. Just like a reverse grid the faster drivers find a way through the field anyway. Not to mention that everyone can use the slipstream and I'm sure the better skilled drivers will be able to take more advantage of it than the less skilled drivers.

What I'm saying is why make such a big deal about it. Get on the track, try to give each other space just like before, don't run into anyone, and get your best laps in. Like I said, yes slow drivers can now pick up the slipstream of the faster drivers, but everyone can benefit; not just the slower drivers. I don't see why we need to stress so much about it or add extra time to the qualifying. If you really want to control it then do qualifying runs during the week.

I recommended having qualifying in this manner; split the crowd in two. Have the first group go. Wait roughly thirty to 40 seconds and let the others go as to not take away the ten minutes of qualifying. That or make drivers go In ten second intervals.

We tried something like that and it worked horribly. I came up on people and people came up on me. An alien actually passed me on Spa during qualifying but it was that or one of us had to throw our hot lap away.

I understand, but I'm here to race, not be a steward. I honestly don't feel like it nor do I have the time to sit down and document someone taking me out, etc. I'll leave that up to the next person who is on the wrong end of his driving. Personally I know how to handle that person now and will race him accordingly.

That is probably one of the most selfish things I've heard said on this forum ever.

That's like being mugged on the street, having the criminal's name and address, and not reporting him. Might as well let the next guy get mugged.

I agree. It's one thing to be on the wall if you are not confident about the seriousness of the contact, but if someone "takes you out"? That needs to be investigated.

I'm not sure I'd use the word selfish, more of a reality in a lot of cases.

This is not the first time nor will it be the last this has been said. To be honest I expect more than the people that have voiced this are in this situation.

People have lives outside S.N.A.I.L., we do want these incidents reported, but, to me it's like voting.

If you did, complain about the government to your hearts content. You stood in line to put an X down, you earned it.

If you didn't ...

Agreed. Not only does it put your fellow clean drivers in danger, but it keeps the driver who is being an idiot from ever learning from his mistakes. And learning how to drive clean is a big part of what the lower divisions of this leauge are all about. (and the upper ones sometimes)

We tried something like that and it worked horribly. I came up on people and people came up on me. An alien actually passed me on Spa during qualifying but it was that or one of us had to throw our hot lap away.

After yesterday I can honestly say that I see no reason for any special precautions to be taken durring qualifying. The draft was there, but it didn't seem to be a big a factor as everyone was worried about. I think we should make a rule against bump-drafting durring qualifying and leave it at that.

Agreed. What I'm responding to, to use your voting analogy, is when people who don't vote bitch and moan about the people in office.

If you didn't report it, don't complain about it here. That's my $0.02.

I take it as almost being robbed and then turning into a vigilante. That is what it sounds like.

"Personally I know how to handle that person now and will race him accordingly."

I dunno...if it pisses him off to the point where he needs to "race him accordingly" next time then it's selfish.

If it's just a little tiny scrape here and there, noone get's knocked off line, and it's just close quarter racing...then no reporting is neccesary.

But if he feels like he is being battered around by a particular driver to the point where he needs to pay particular attention to that driver from here on out, then it's selfish.

Got some different pictures of our favorite car NSX RM.

Wow, selfish. Ok. It's selfish. Whatcha gonna do about it??

I have a suggestion...you can watch every replay for every driver in every division and whenever you see bad/dirty driving, you govern accordingly. Don't have the desire or time to do it? Didn't think so.

By "racing him accordingly" I plan to give him plenty of room, expect to be dive bombed, and brake early if I have to. I'm not planning to take anyone out. I couldn't race dirty if I tried. Just not something I'm good at.

You are not my responsibility. So I will actually do not a damn thing about it.

Nor am I a steward. I am just a guy with an opinion. Eventually one of your fellow racers will have to deal with the trash you left out by the curb.

Really?..."Whatcha gonna do about it??"

I can't describe how that sounds to me.

Exactly...you can't MAKE me report someone. If I don't have the time to go through the whole process, the bad driver will either be reported by someone else or clean up his act. Simple as that. No reason to get butt hurt about it. It's just racing.

Plus, you are in a completely different division. Why are you so concerned?

Have you ever seen 2 NASCAR drivers have a heated battle that ends in someone being taken out?? The following week, they give each other plenty of room and race differently around that one guy than they do around everyone else. It's not that hard and remember...it's only a game. Get out and get some fresh air from time to time.

Guys take a deep breath, relax and hopefully agree you have differing opinions on this, okay :dopey:

If you feel there's more to say to each other about this, please use GTPlanet's pm functionality.

Thanks

If only we could do this NASCAR style and let the drivers police themselves. Unfortunately, even at its worst moments, NASCAR drivers have a lot more professionalism (on average) than drivers in an online leauge.

Imagine how messy things in SNAIL would get it zero gave us the same "have at it boys" statement that NASCAR gave their drivers.

It would turn into an online demo derby room...lol. I say we get Tony Stewart and "Wrecking" Robby Gordon to join S.N.A.I.L.
