I'm out of the Nürburg thing. I can't race through dinner time, especially being the chef of the family!

Goat: I could occasionally run a 2PM Eastern event if you've got a notion.

Once again for anyone who can not make the main feature on Sunday or if you want another go I will be running a pick up race in D1. If you would like to run the races simply show up between 12:15-12:30 EST (9:15-9:30 PST) and if we get a few people we will run the races.

Otherwise have fun racing Sunday and remember boys and girls stay clean.

Cancel the Nurburg thing then. No time is good enough for anyone besides snails standard times D: ..

I think that might be an exaggeration. If, for instance, you ran at 11:00PM Eastern it would be a much improved time for me. Other than that, it's 2:00PM. But then, I've not got a very flexible schedule nor understanding wife. hehe

Hello gents, i would like to join S.N.A.I.L. Spec Racing. I am more of a casual racer using DS3, looking to join div 5 with aids after time trial.

Hey iceandspice,

Thanks for joining S.N.A.I.L. 👍

EDIT: Forgot to mention, if you can get me your time trial before 6:00 PM Eastern time, we'll get you racing tonight :)

Please read the following:

We run a clean league by enforcing the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and we expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both.

Follow These Steps:
1. I add you to the drivers list as a New S.N.A.I.L. (Done)
2. You run the Time Trial.
3. You Private Message my GTPlanet account with your time from the time trial (no Sunday racing until this is completed).
4. I assign you to the appropriate Division, to give you the best racing possible.
5. A PSN friend request will be sent from the appropriate SNAIL_Division1, 2, 3, 4 or 5 account. That is where you race on Sunday night.
6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday :)

The first post has all the rules and regulations for S.N.A.I.L. It is the first place you need to check if you have a question. If it's not answered there, feel free to post your question on the thread.

The second post has the current race lineup for Sunday and is updated weekly.

If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, post your choices in this thread.
To avoid duplication, the currently claimed combinations can be found here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all S.N.A.I.L.s to join as many as possible.

Welcome aboard and enjoy :)

I actually thought that was a good start time Higher. I would like tobsee more events start before 10. And certainly 11. 8pm sounds like a great start time, so does 7. Maybe you can get more interest with one of those times. I'll have to look at the event schedule.

Thanks, did a few laps and sent you the best lap time ( PM).

I would like car color and wheels - white (both), prefer car no 15 or 12 ( think 15 is taken)

Many thanks

Like Apmaddock said, I really don't think you need to cancel it, you just need to find the right place for it. I personally agree with Wolfsatz that Monday night would be good. Although there's talk of Monday Mayhem coming back, Rally has already said that he'd alternate Mondays with another event.

I was initially planning to alternate it with a "Manual Monday" event in which everyone was required to use a their clutch and H-gate shifter, but I have to figure out how to mount my H-gate shifter under my desk before I start that event (unless someone else wants to take the lead on it?)

I'm all for planning events at different start times, but history has shown that 10pm Eastern is what works for most SNAILs. I think this is because that's been the start time for all of our events from the beginning, so our members tend to race at that time anyways. However, if you can find enough interest at a different time slot, then go for it. :)

I want to do Manual Monday, but I won't get my shifter until Tuesday. Next week!

That could be fun, although finding time for another game, for me, is a little hard. But they have Karts ...

2012.09.30 S.N.A.I.L. Drivers Meeting

The “Golden Rule” of Motorsports - “It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free.”

1. The first corner of any race can be quite hectic, to say the least. This is a very important corner, not because you can jump 3 places by squeezing up the inside and pushing the rules to the limit or beyond. But, because you can effectively end your and others race in the blink of an eye. All it takes is a slightly miscalculated brake point and you're now set to take out half the field in front of you.

You can't win the race in the first corner, but you can most certainly lose it there. Respect your fellow drivers position going into the first corner.

2. S.N.A.I.L. OLR Highlite

01: S.N.A.I.L. 04: Rules Governing Car Contact:

A: Contacts and collisions must be avoided at all costs.

B: Pushing other cars in turns or pushing them off the track is strictly prohibited.

C: Leaning on other cars is strictly prohibited in any situation.

D: Some contact through a corner or through a pass may not be avoidable and may be deemed "incidental" should it not appear to affect the likely outcome of the section in question.

3. GTPlanet Good Racecraft Guide Highlite

Defending Your Position:

  • An experienced racer will take whatever line he feels necessary into any given corner in order to defend & maintain his place, he is entitled to do so as he has track position over the pursuing driver, remember that the fastest line is not always the winning one. It is the other chaps job to force him into an error, whilst still driving cleanly of course, or wait for one to occur naturally & then take advantage of it, albeit in the proper fashion. An inexperienced racer will, in his endless optimism, tend to stuff it up the inside at every unavailable opportunity when trying to pass, imagining he is driving well but making far too much contact & causing many unnecessary incidents. Also, some lacking in good racecraft tend to drive right up to & into the driver in front, as they do not have the common sense to adjust their throttle & braking to account for following in the slipstream of another. You will notice that drivers who have good racecraft make very little contact when following & passing others on track.

Read and understand what I posted in the spirit of S.N.A.I.L., a group dedicated to playing a game for fun and enjoyment.

Be aware of courteous and gentlemanly drivers tonight. There's something in store. :)

Good racing tonight all,

kcheeb

7 of the 12 chase drivers are a lap down and only 8 cars are in the lead lap with 80 out 400 laps just in! Only in Nascar.

That 18 is mighty fast!

....

It sucks not to see the fastest guy in the track NOT win; fuel strategy was not a good one for the 18.

....

Hi Guys,

I'm all set and ready to race for tonight (9/30,) but I just realized I have no idea where / how the races are held. The directions say "join the lounge," so I would imagine I have to send a friend request (or have I already received one??) and then go to the coffee cup of that SNAIL friend?

Please throw me a bone here...I'm clueless.

Thanks
Joey

You should have friend requests from your division and all higher divisions at least. Simply join the lounge of the division you have been assigned to.

Hey Joey,

Let me know if you don't have SNAIL_Division1 as a friend, we'll get it sorted right away 👍

Hi Joey,
I tried to send you a friend request about a month ago, but your friends list was maxed out so it didn't go through. I just tried sending you another one, so it looks like you've cleared a spot. 👍

Since you're assigned to Division 1, the FR I just sent you is from SNAIL_Division1. Please accept it and then join the SNAIL_Division1 lounge via the 'Community' tab by 10pm Eastern tonight. If you're late, you'll miss out on some qualifying time so it's always a good idea to try to join a few minutes early. It's also important to note that none of our divisional accounts are online on Sunday nights, so there will not be an orange icon next to the Lounge's "coffee cup" logo. However, you'll need to click on it anyways to join the races.

Let me know if you have any questions at all. Good luck and good racing tonight. :)
