Hey fellas, just thought I'd share a little triumph with you guys. I've been working on this thing for too long and I've finally got it running.
Sadly, it was a used motor I put in there, they guy said that it didn't leak, but of course, it leaks bad between the rotor housing and the center plate. So, Im going to get everything cleaned up and finished (making everything quick disconnect for ease of removal and install) and then rebuild it. Not sure if I'm going to boost or leave it na with a nice post job. I guess I'll have to see the condition of the rotor housings before I decide my route.
Wow that takes me back. My Grandfather had one of the first FB's in Ohio. I remember when he let my dad borrow it for a few months. Unfortunately my grandfather got t-boned driver side by a drunk driver in a Bronco. He walked away without a scratch:) but it totalled the car:(

Starting up my RX-7 for the second time after completely stripping, rewiring and installing the engine. right now its still in the rough "build up" stage. I still need to build the headlights, using square for a sleepy eye look instead of the huge round lights that it came with. and I have to wire up the dash/gauges and what not. But I got the engine running. So thats the biggest hurdle out of the way. Well, ti was, until I noticed the leak.

Where are you located? I'm getting a 91 supra soon that's already half way through the build up stage and it might be fun to have a little friendly competition ;)

Dab, I think every enthusiast is a little masochistic. Look at what the stewards, zero, cheeb and the rest of us put ourselves through for a video game.

Oh, I totally agree. You give part of yourself to something you're truly passionate about.

I want to thank Chatva and Vail for the very useful Nascar lessons. Hopefully I will be able to do a nice race not killing anyone in the process.

Just wanted to make sure everyone (especially the division directors) saw this post. Please remember to turn off the penalties for Round 3's NASCAR races. Obviously, D1 wont have to change any settings, but all of the other divisions will need to remember change the setting after Round 2 is complete. If you're a division director, please confirm that you're read this.

Gotcha!!

NOTICE:

DIVISION 1 NASCAR CAR CHOICES!!!

OwensRacing - #83 Vickers RedBull

This is just to help get diversity. Drive what you want.

Also need to know for sure if only 2011 cars allowed. I'd prefer the 2010 RedBull

It is correct that only 2011 models are allowed. I will be in the #99 Aflac. Cue the duck.

Attention D3 S.N.A.I.L.s

We need your replays from March 24th!

If you are in D3 and saved the replays, please contact me so we can arrange getting them uploaded 👍

Thanks

A little off the cuff but not off topic per se... What is the absolute ultimate driving song. When you hear it and you are behind the wheel, your hair stands on end and you are at great risk of getting a ticket.... For me it is without a doubt:

Rush: Red Barchetta.

"...Wind, in my hair... Shifting and drifting.... Mechanical music... Adrenaline surge... Well weathered leather, hot metal and oil.... The scented country air... Sunlight on chrome, the blur of the landscape, every nerve aware..."

Awe man!! That really does it for me!! What is YOUR song?? Heh, if enough of you respond, maybe we can put a SNAIL Greatest Driving Music playlist together!

Otay... Back to your regular programming.

Excellent!! I will keep a running list of what comes up. Still not sure what to do with it yet, but give me some time and I will come up with something!!

My favorite would have to be Tool's Lateralus. Great song, and almost long enough for an entire SNAIL race :)

I also recently added some Muse to a Nurb vid I made (in my sig).

Fortune days and anything by tool is great. My favorite (and weight lifting) songs are destroy everything by hatebreed, dying breed by five finger death punch, and blood and thunder by mastodon

...another that is way off the beaten path (but still cool) is Ozric Tentacles - Tight Spin. Check it out... This is one, if I had the resources, I would love to do a 'tube vid blasting around the Nurburgring with this track.... Someday, but a highly recommended driving tune!!

Theme song from the movie "Gran Prix" with James Garner ........ old movie, but "on topic", so to speak.

I like some of drop kick murphys more fast tempo songs. Or I just put in some Mark Farina mushroom jazz or aphex twins.
