But first things first.... 14 hours in at Le Mans and although the sun has come up it is still overcast and the rain has been coming down in buckets for 9 of those hours. My pit crew hasn't reapplied RAIN-X and trying to drive cockpit cam is making me feel like I have a old fashioned diving helmet on.

I've made it to the magical moment when the sun is just starting to make the sky less black than normal (12:45). My lead over the Pescarolo is stable at around a lap and a half and I haven't had any rain since my post about it raining for a couple of laps before stopping. I've used the 'top of car' cam for the night driving in an attempt to see more of the track

Wow! I am so distracted right now. I am trying so hard to pay attention to what I am doing but F1/Monaco practice sessions are on right now and it appears that out of the 8 brain cells I have, one of them has a fouled spark plug. So if I wander a bit forgive me!:dopey:

It is a daily occurrence where I work for all of my peers and I to text information back and forth about what is happening within the system. A few days ago, I received a text that was absolutely rude, pompous and just the biggest log of baloney I had ever read. Needless to say, it really knotted up my panties and I was determined to set this dude straight! It had already been a bad day for me and I had no intention of putting up with that kind of behavior. Well, after talking to this dude face to face, I realized I had completely misunderstood the tone of his message. I ended up acting like a complete jack-wagon based on what I thought he meant. Later that day, while catching up on the thread, I sat back and really gave some thought to what had happened and how it relates to this thread. It seems like we engage in "lively discussions" on a regular basis around here. It also seems like it is happening more often. At times it can be a little distressing. It also can reflect poorly on the thread and us as a group if taken too far. A couple of years ago I read an article about the interaction between people in a growing text based world. The general idea behind the article was explain how difficult it is to convey an idea to people with just words. When face to face with someone, we have the benefit of facial expression, body language and vocal inflection. Sure, you can read a book and actually feel the emotions, but this is just a forum, we ain't no writers nor do we have the time to bust out a 15 page post to ask what a good lap time is. I think more often than not, when an epic SNAIL debate is in full swing, a lot of what is trying to be said is getting lost in the medium. We read the words, and interject our own feelings into it and miss the point. Maybe if we change our approach when discussing sensitive topics we could avoid misunderstandings and bruised egos. I did some looking around and found a couple of sites that may help us communicate better.

The SNAIL Results document just keeps getting better and better. More Data!! (insert Tim Allen grunt here) If you missed it, kcheeb has set the spreadsheet up as an HTML document so it loads faster and is much easier to navigate. It is even that much cooler now!! I know I have been hyping the results doc for awhile but I think it is really going to take off in the coming months. Although it is an off league week due to the holiday, several SNAILS have decided to fill in the time by grinding out some of the longest endurance races in A-spec. I am not trying to make more work for kcheeb, but how cool would it be to have a section logging some data from individual endurance races? It could inspire more to take on these monsters and have some benchmarks for those that do... And never underestimate the cool factor of bragging rights!

With GT Academy 2013 quickly approaching, the results doc can really come into play. I feel that there are a few SNAILS that have a legitimate shot the finals. The rest of us are just regular humans. No matter where you fit in, the data, graphs and statistics will not only be useful in finding that extra tenth of a second you are looking for I am sure a tab can be created to sport our own, SNAIL leader boards for some friendly inter-league/inter-divisional competition!

Something else that has been on my mind for awhile is the name: "SNAIL Results". I think it needs a better name. Something befitting of what it really is. Something that has the SNAIL spirit. "SNAIL Results" just doesn't do it justice. It would be cool if someone came up with a more appropriate title for it. Hmmmm... No guarantees, but I will even ask if zer05ive would be willing to hand out a GranStand point or two for whomever comes up with the best one!

Oh and the picture at the top? That cat is the plumber that built the worlds fastest FULLY OPERATIONAL turd aquarium!! Top speed of around 55mph. You know if these were to show up in the OCD, there would be a SNAIL sanctioned event to race them!!

So far we have

Oshawa-Joe
Dabneyd
KCheeb
OwensRacing

Who else is in for Sunday night at 10pm?

I will try to open a practice room and run through the combos tonight.

FYI, I think the Vettel version might be the best one to use because of the gearing, but haven't tested it out yet.

After doing some practice tonight we have decided to change the Sunday event to a F2007 event.

That's a good question. Is anyone who's not doing a 24 hr race able to look and see what the max laps actually is online? If it is 200 it might just have to be a race at the nurb. I think I'm going to start a thread for this idea and see if it takes off. Here's the page: https://www.gtplanet.net/forum/showthread.php?p=8506824#post8506824 If someone wanted to try to iron man it they could do that or if they didn't have many team mates that could work also as long as they were going to try for the 24hrs.

I would iron man the crap out of that.

Holy crap, watch this finish!

Best finish of any racing series, anywhere, Ever!

That I've seen. ;)

Yeah I started getting some vague hints of light around 12.5 hours and that lap was horrible because I spent more time trying to see scenery than I did looking for braking points and apexes.

Since the name SNAIL is an acronym - the results post could follow that same format and use S.S.A.A.R. SNAIL Sunday After Action Report. Or something along those lines. This could be adapted to just about any of the events SNAIL puts on.

Awesome Pit Board, Exo! Very well put.. communication is key!

As for the naming contest for kcheeb's work of art, here's my submission:

(although I think only a few people will get it ;))

Btw, if any of you haven't taken a look at the graphs on the first tab lately, you need to stop what you're doing and check them out asap. There are the emotions you will probably experience (in order):boggled::dopey::D:bowdown:

You like race cars. How about racing in the Formula SNAIL event?

And Veloci , where you been man? You have been known to tear it up with an F1. Bring Jett if he's around.

I would in a heartbeat man, but I'm at a bar in the Ozarks right now 👍

You can tell I'm underage because I'm on GTP instead of getting plastered 👎

When is this f1 event taking place? Tonight i cant as im in a party getting drunk right now:) but tomorrow sounds awesome

My load cell arrived today and I can already say it's worth every penny. I have to get used to pushing that hard on the pedal but once I do I know I'll be faster as I'm already a little faster even without getting comfortable with it. Somehow the cars feel different and there's confidence in braking late. So if you're on the fence about getting one for your t500 then get one unless you're faster than me already then it sucks.

I didnt know you were a Missourian like me Panda! 👍 How are the Ozarks around this time of year man? I might beg to take a trip there :)

By the way, for the Touge event for tomorrow I would like all interested drivers to send me an fr on PSN. Ive decided that we will do the event in my lounge seeing as D3 could be busy with the F1 event. Please do this ASAP so I can have an idea as to how many people will show up and so that everyone can get the track to practice. 👍

Oh man it's freaking beautiful. Went joy riding in the boat earlier without a shirt and it was perfect. Right now I'm sitting at Franky and Louie's around the ten mile marker. What's nice about this place at this time of year is everyone is so excited for summer that they go out and party but forget how cold it gets at night. Makes it easier to find yourself a girl. It's not that the cold makes them nicer, but just a little less mean.

But holy crap the lake is rough this year! Next year I think my dad and I are going to bring our bikes instead. Seriously it's (borderline) just not worth it unless you have a huge boat and a bunch of people.

I'm only here for the weekend, I live about 20 miles east of Kc.

It's all good. Doesn't start until Sunday night.

I don't care much for boats, more of a car guy ;) As long as the weather is beautiful and the parties are hardy im good 👍

Anyone else still working their 24hr enduro? 9.5hrs left here. Getting 5 laps to a set of mediums. Full daylight should be here at the end of this stint or the next.

Sorry drift, I won't be making it tomorrow, our internet isn't getting hooked up until tuesday. we got everything moved today. I'll be luck if I even have anything setup to play tomorrow let alone the energy left to play. Sad I'll be missing out on the fun, but glad to be in a real home where I can build a respectable setup. enjoy your memorial day fellas.
