Going to take my girls to watch the "Snail Movie". And yes I will be wearing my S.N.A.I.L. SPEC Racing T-Shirt:tup:

Just got back from seeing our movie....was a lot of fun, very cool. And yes, I even remembered to wear our t-shirt for it :D

Big props to the artist/graphics guru...the little kids who were around while I was lined up for the ticket couldn't take their eyes off it 👍

As for the crowd, it must have been ken since I haven't crossed the border in over two years :lol:
 
I thoroughly enjoyed it too! Thanks Exo! After it was over, I came across an older video that's pretty badass as well.

That is just so rad! Back in a former life when I was racing dirtbikes, after every race I would strip the bike down to the frame and go over everything during the rebuild... I loved every minute of it! I can't even begin to imagine the complexity of a complete tear down and rebuild of an F1 car!:crazy:
 
Any times for RX-7 combo? 1:01.4 was my best.


Btw Joey, that is such a simple but yet technical combo. I must say I enjoyed running laps on it. 20 laps in and I'm seeing wheel, throttle, and brake inputs being so important. Time there isn't found knowing the track as much getting your car controlled with the three inputs. Not sure if you picked it this way but its great.

Ooh I so hoped you would use that one. Was a view/angle that doesn't get used to often. :)

I got the exact same angle just last week while leaving work. This guys pulls out of the parking lot with almost an identical looking car. White Elise with spoiler and all the trim.. Only thing he didn't have was the number plate. I pulled behind him at the light so I could stare a little longer.. :drool:

And the best thing about the banners? Each pic is from a different SNAIL!

Damn some of you have some good b-spec drivers!!! Pyxens driver I. Snow gave my driver a run for his money the whole race and were never 5 seconds apart! And on top of that we ended up 20 seconds ahead of everyone else!!! Take a look!
 
I would like to point you in the direction of the ls1 converted 944s. They're pretty brutal in a straight line (my buddy's hangs with gt3's until around 180), but they are absolutely terrifying in the corners!!! Every turn you can watch this orange 944 gain four car lengths on anything in front go it. He attributes it to the stupid high torque/weight ratio and the consistent torque curve. Since most high end Porsches are turbo monsters they're naturally much squirrelier (sp?), especially in the corners where smooth power is crucial. I know I'm preaching to the choir, but this car is unreal! If all goes well I'll have one of my own within the next five years.

I find it hard to believe that an LS1 converted 944 handles better than a 944 with the Porsche engine in it. The 944 had an exact 50/50 weight balance due to a lightweight 4cylinder engine in the front (with or without a turbo depending on the model) and the transmission was in the back by the rear transaxle. A LS1 944 would disrupt that balance to the tune of probably 60/40 or maybe even 65/35 since you would have to scrap the 944 rear positioned tranny in favor of the LS1 tranny. I have no doubt the car was fast but a properly set up 944 should handle a lot better than one with an LS1.

On the power debate...I have owned all types of small engined Hondas (CRX si, prelude si, civic ex), an rx7 turbo II, a mustang lx 5.0, a Porsche 944s2 and a 911. I've driven a ton more stuff at Sebring track days and my days as a service writer at Porsche and I have to say that, as much fun a high powered turbo car is, there is nothing more useful all the time than normally aspirated power.

Tuning the piss out of a turbo car decreases the life of the engine overall. You won't get 250k miles out of a tuned turbo rotary or tuned turbo anything for that matter. Contrast that with a big Vette, Mustang etc engine...they will last forever. Especially the normally aspirated flat 6 Porsche engines will last 300-400k miles before rebuild.

Turbos, even sequential have some lag and slight hesitation before delivering power. It's just not the same as having normally aspirated power right NOW. There is something super cool about being able to light up the rear tires right off of idle without revving and dropping the clutch.

That being said my favorite car was my old flat 6 3.0 911. It had 225 at the wheels and was set up for track and weighed 2000lbs. It was like a go kart.
