That's what I've heard. I test drove both last night but and the only thing I don't really like on the Evo is the 5 speed. It's at around 3800 rpm at 85. I guess that's not a big deal except on long trips but man does it rev. I tried the MR with the twin clutch gearbox also but it seemed laggy on the shifts and made me think I was driving an automatic.

The reason I'm looking at these cars and most likely getting rid of my Z is we're probably moving to NY in a few months. I've debated this in my head for the last few days and it's a tough decision because I really like my Z but I need something that has more space for things since we won't have the wife's WRX anymore. I want something I can have fun on the track with and can daily drive also. I'm leaning towards the Evo but it's a tough call. BTW for those in the cold parts of the world if you have cloth seats do you wish you had heated seats?
Cloth, heated seats are nice, in leather, heated seats are almost needed though. Not as bad in cloth though, doesn't hold and transmit the cold as much. What have you guys heard bad about tuning an STi? It's my understanding that the wrx needs major engine work to be reliable when tuning, because of the lack of oil getting to the rod bearings, causing them to over heat at high RPM's. And the 5 speed is made of glass. But the STI components are of a much higher quality. The re are oil sprayers for the bearings, so no issue holding high revs, the 6 speed trans and drivetrain I've personally seen handle over 400hp of heavy abuse. High rpm launchs all the time, daily driven, and abused. All of the parts were stock. Hell,, even the WRX block will hold up to the abuse, as that was the engine, all stock internals. It wasn't until we went on a canyon run that had us running on desert roads at sustained rpms that his engine finally gave up.

I'm in for tonight if I get home from work early enough, and if it's for testing. I've only been online a couple of times and feel I need more practice with GT6.

You once told me. regarding GT6 and the possible different physics, it would take a couple hours to get used to it, when I stated I may not run SNAIL Sundays for a few weeks after release. I may be exaggerating the time value a little, just for effect mind you. ;)

Tonight is the official first league night for SNAIL on Gran Turismo 6. If you've got your A license, you've had enough practice. Don't be missing this historic event. Make it so, Joe. Work be damned, full speed ahead!

Besides, with your lack of practice, it may be the only time some of the rest of us have a chance at a pole position. Of course, if Jared and/or Fox show up.....

On another note.
I'd played through to getting the A license not caring much what shifting mechanic I used and did all of that with the flappy paddles. After GT5's clutch shifting frustration levels, I was, less than enthusiastic about using the clutch. After doing the middle 3 sections of Goodwood, all with the clutch, however, I have been doing all the single player stuff with it. I must say, I think the shifting logarithms have been much improved. Every car I've driven since starting to use the clutch has had different shifting characteristics. Some are slightly different, some vastly. One car, the GT40 in Goodwood is an utter PITA for second gear but, at least 3rd and 4th are easy enough to make from either direction. What I'm getting to here is, if you have a wheel set with a clutch and shifter, use it. Listening to a full throttle downshift is more than worth the time to do it. I am considering running league night with it, but due to my lack of experience with the tracks and what gear to use where, and the fact that it's obviously slower at the moment, I probably won't. Missing a shift at a critical moment and not having any power to work with is very unsettling and makes for some less than admirable decision making.

Something else I'd like everyone to consider tonight. Please put on your patient socks. We've yet to seriously burden the GT6 net=code and it will likely be a bit bumpy.

I've just heard that the STI handles worse and you don't get as much power for your dollar with it. I can tell you there's a noticeable difference in handling stock to stock and from what I hear the STI needs a lot more work to get it to handle. Don't know much specific about either when it comes to this as I'm just starting to look into them. I like Subaru as a brand and with Mitsu doing so bad in the states it's a little scary to buy one but the driver in me kinda doesn't care about anything but how it handles and how fast it can go.

Heated seats are not needed. However they sure are nice.

For a track car and DD, Man I'd find a nice Evo IX. EvoM.net

Ahh, now that you mention that, I am reminded of the Top Gear episode where they tested both. The Evo did do much better. Most of my knowledge comes from pre 2000. When both were the rally standard. Back then the Subaru was better than the Evo. Not that you could get either one of those in the states back then.

Is there no way to store lap times by track anymore? In GT5 you could do practice runs at all the tracks and it'd store the top 10 times or whatever. In GT6 we can only "test drive" the cars but it doesn't look like it has any record of lap times. Am I missing something?

Not sure about the "test drive" section, but I know you can still do so (store your laps) in arcade mode using TT.

For my division host(s) - Unless my connection decides to hate me I'll be racing tonight, the 22nd & the 29th.

I need about an hour more of practice to be able to keep it on the track. :odd: It's the track more that the physics I think. Just haven't been online much yet, or on the new tracks much.

C'mon, you are teasing us - spill. Why not until then?[/quote]

my parents told me to wait till Christmas...

Thanks! Are you able to host/direct for like you did last week? In fact, we're still looking for D1 GM is you're up for it. :sly:

I don't mind hosting and directing, and I suppose I don't mind being GM; what else do I need to make sure is handled aside from the lobby, keeping score, and replays?

S.N.A.I.L. Color and Number Combo Entry Form!

With everyone gearing up for the first official race on GT6, as well as the new additions coming into our ranks, I feel it is high time, and past time, to give everyone a little refresh on the procedure for entering you combo and number. It is super easy.
Step one: Follow this link
Step two: Fill out the form
Step three: Submit the form.
That's it, I bet it took longer to decide on a color combo then it will take to fill out this form.

Good luck out there everyone. Race clean, and keep it fun.

Also, here's the link to the color list to make sure your choice has not been taken (took me a few lucky clicks to find the listing when I joined initially)

Oh- I just realized I may already be out of time for this- do we need to break in these cars to be allowed to race? There's no b-spec mode that I've seen, so we would have to do it manually? Is the break-in period the same (~200miles)?
