The only driving settings i had on with the rocket '07 was ABS set to 1, No traction control, Skid Recovery force on but the rest turned off. I found the Rocket '07 to be very stable even at high speeds. Sport soft tires.

FINALLY! The beast hath been slain!!!!

Got the same setup and result as you champ; made a white knuckle pass on the murc after drafting him on the last straight... Feels so great to finally have to earn my prize!!!!! These seasonals have been a cake walk for a while... +1 for more like this!

Ooooh now I really can't wait to get home from my trip to try this one lap challenge. Sitting in LAX now... 23 days and no seat time! :banghead:

I did get to sit in our test aircraft 747 cockpit for a descent and landing from 39000 ft though... So I guess that's some "seat" time. Wayyyy cooler than MS Flight Simulator I must say.

I tried the Rocket car and won the first time out. Made the pass for the lead two turn before the last straight. Had to hold off three cars all the way down the straight and then pulled away in the last section of turns. Total time was 7:54.xxx. Lap time right at 6:52 ish. It flashed up and I didn't catch it for sure.

What were your lead cars?

I lost so much time just trying to pass the ai brick walls blocking the road in every turn, blech...

This talk reminds me of mission 34 from GT4. Who remembers that one?
The one I remember most from gt4 was the TT through the tight little European village thing... All cobblestones with only inches to spare on either side...

This is nothing like mission 34. That was a true challenge and I would bet there are a lot of people that still haven't successfully completed it.

The Viper was the lead car when I passed it. I had to hold it off along with an SLR and One-77

Dif combo than me, that... I had the murcielago superleggara and a merc SLR up front, bastards would walk away from me on the last straight...

Yours may be the mix to keep an eye out for.

Remember this one? I liked Midfield. My husband always let me race this track for events he needed to pass. I think one was in a Jaguar but i don't remember for sure.

Oh geez, Mission 34 was probably the toughest test I've ever had in all of GT. I'll guess at about 150 attempts before I finally did it. I'm sure the skills I've learned now could translate into a better time, but that was a heck of a challenge when I did it! I remember passing the leader under hard braking at the end of the long straight, just going into the slow right hander at the end of it. That was nerve racking!!!

You got lucky and before anyone says anything it's not a comment on your skills. It a comment on my two tries at that race with the Audi R8 4.2. I ran 7:58 and 7:56 and finished 2nd both times. I must have got the wrong car out front on my attempts.

LUCK IS ABSOLUTELY RIGHT!!!

I just turned a total of 8.08.06 and lost by 3 GD seconds!!! To a damn Zonda C12 S....
🤬:irked:

If you at first don't succeed exit the race and re-enter. Many times there will be a new set of AI's with different characteristics. You might catch the front runner sooner, but then he will chase you like a mad rabbit.

Not sure about this particular event, however, in events like these often the first 2cars are given a boost. That boost is generally only a lap, hence why you see two cars way ahead of the pack on challenges like this. However I don't know if that is how it works for a single lap challenge. Sounds like they might have a different method for this race.

I agree it was by sheer luck. I tried with the Nissan GTR Black Edition '12 and by the time i got to the last straight away, i was still 3 seconds behind. It was only i tried the rocket '07 that i was able to get 1st place but got to the Lambo right before the last turn. You got a much better time than i did. I know Bowler it wasn't about my skills. Alot are having a hard time with the 1 lap challenge so i just gave it a try with the Rocket '07.
My go-to 550 pp Seasonals car is the ZZ-II, which has the handling characteristics that enable quick passes on the AI and the top end to not have to fight too hard to keep them behind you on the final straight. It seems to me that the key to 'ring events is to pass the AI without any significant hold-ups; as soon as I have to fight for the pass I end up trying too hard (and ending up in the grass) or I lose too much time and miss the next section where I could draft the next AI car to be passed.
I get my skills from driving on the DVP.
It's not called the Don Valley PARKway for nothing......
I should have read on to Major's post before google-searching DVP. The top result is something very, very different from the Don Valley Parkway (and also NSFW).

QUESTION:
Is there a written rule about not using mics during the race, or is it a unwritten rule?

There was someone complaining about having to mute there mic during the race. I have always done it because I was told to when I started snail. I looked through the rules, and could not find a rule about it. I am all for the rule, but just wanted to know where the rule came from.

Im pretty sure its got something to do with connection issues when there is alot of people in the room ... no mics or chat is less overall "stress" connection wise i guess
(I should start rapping)
somebody else will have a better explanation.

I always considered it was done as a courtesy to each other to avoid distractions/conversation during races.
