@Rednose58 is having a well deserved break on a tropical island somewhere south. I will take care of the combo information this week

Back to the wheel/controller convo, I would say, in my ver personal opinion that the wheel works 10 times better for me than the controller.
When I changed from the controller to the gt driving force wheel, the difference was not that big but to the G27 is huge.
I'm not only faster but, and most importantly, way more accurate in cornering and breaking and I don't make one third of the little mistakes that I used to do.
Finally, like someone said days ago, a simulator only gets real when you go for the real deal with a racing wheel. ;)

I would like to join a group. I have never joined a club but I would like to opportunity to try it out. please send details about how to join and get a division. thank you

@Dude84

Here's your official S.N.A.I.L. Welcome Post!

Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the S.N.A.I.L. OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide.
Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You take the S.N.A.I.L. OLR and Racecraft Test

2. You run the Time Trial and submit your information by 23:59 EST on Saturday night if you want to race this Sunday.

3. @JLBowler PM's you with your assigned Division that we feel will give you the closest competition. You will be added to the drivers list.

4. Send a PSN friend request to the Race Director or Primary Host from your assigned SNAIL Division. Sunday night you will need to sort the online lobbies by friends and join the lobby named 'snailracing.org Division_(x) based off your Division placement from JLBowler. That lobby will be where you race Sunday.

5. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below. Now if you've actually read this, post a :dunce: in this thread.

6. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread.
If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to S.N.A.I.L.

If I had ever won B I would always choose to pass. Because at least you get to actually select something original. Using the freeze basically chooses something someone else already chose.

Passing means you get to pick something all by yourself :)

Nice cheery landscape...and people actually choose to live there? No wonder you get grouchy all the time ;)

Is this why Hockey has no many fights? Everyone is so pissed off about living in those conditions.
Joe, there's people living in yellow knife and anchorage and I can't understand that either. Here at least we have a summer:lol:

Agreed. You can make much quicker/more extreme wheel angle adjustments using a controller but it's very difficult to make smooth/fine inputs of steering, brake, and throttle compared to a wheel. There's fast guys using controllers, and there's slow guys using controllers. Same with wheels. With enough practice lots of people can adjust their driving style and be fast with either. For me though, I can't drive certain cars like a FGT fast/reliably on a controller.

I knew if I kept posting that damn old picture someone would take pity and do me a new one.... thanks to super driver @RobbiefromBC for the new Monday Pack racing Banner.

Edit: of course the two front cars are co-director @joe_diben and @RobbiefromBC tester and occasional co-host.....View attachment 257823
Great looking banner @RobbiefromBC! However, if you ask @GamingPete nicely he might be able to make you a custom logo that says "PACK" instead of "SPEC" on that that metal cutout. Or use a different material altogether? For example, Pete's shown me some awesome carbon fiber designs as well. One of the benefits of our new logo is that it leaves room for a lot of creativity, as Pete has demonstrated many times. 👍

Speaking of the new logo, has anyone heard from @GTP_Vertigo lately? I sent a request to the owners of the various SNAIL threads asking them to remove the dots from S.N.A.I.L. in the thread titles, but I doesn't look like he's been on in almost a month.

In fact, I'd like to request that everyone please "remove the dots" from anything referencing S.N.A.I.L. - this includes posts, sigs, PS3 captions, etc. As I mentioned when the new logo was announced, we're rebranding S.N.A.I.L. to SNAIL in order to put emphasis that we're not just a Sunday night league anymore. It may be our roots, but we grew beyond that a long time ago with events on most other nights of the week. 👍

Speaking of which, does anyone have any ideas or suggestions for a SNAIL event on Tuesday nights? We haven't have a Tuesday event for several weeks, so now's the perfect time to speak up if you've been thinking an idea for a while but just didn't speak up because there weren't any open nights on the SNAIL schedule. :)

I know it has nothing to do with GT but i really laughed hard about myself for like 5 mintues hahaha,
Here is my very first drive with the Lotus 98T in Assetto Corsa:

And speaking of SNAIL moving beyond just a Sunday night league.. What is everyone's thoughts on moving beyond just a Gran Turismo league? I know a few of you guys (like @cmbeal317) are are into Assetto Corsa for example and there was a brief SNAIL stint in iRacingbas well. Admittedly, creating a PC league might be unrealistic, but Project CARS will be on the PS4 next spring which means it'll beat GT7 to the new PlayStation platform by a significant amount of time. I know there are issues with wheel compatibility on the PS4 right now, but who knows what things will be like next year. If it lives up the hype, I can see a lot of console-based sim racers migrating over to Project CARS (and possibly staying with it even when GT7 launches).

It depends on the model; but I usually prefer matte finishes myself (you want to look at the pictures not the 'glossy finish')

@DesertPenguin09
BTW... I've never head of Peal White finish. Where does that come from?
I'm thinking about my Lexus IS350 GT300 for the Race Car Series. I'm going with a penguin theme of white car on matte black wheels. I don't have matte white yet. I really want a matte blue though, like the Camaro race car in the Continental Tire Championship. I saw it in person at Watkins Glen and fell in love.

I mean White from the Solid category or White from the Pearlescent category.

A quick back and forth in the shop shows Solid whites are brighter but will they be less reflective in photos (making the car lack form)?
