I don't see how damage affects playability at all levels. Some of these seasonal events that come out are game over if scrape a wall or drive into a car , do you just quit or "not have fun" doing them? You learn to race clean and proper and you finish the race.

Aye, if you don't get my meaning, or that of the others that have pointed out why it affects playability, then I'm at a loss to do so.

I see it would affect playability for a group of racers. That "group" would not be defined by division or speed skill but by their style of driving IMO.
I have never considered myself "hardcore sim racer". I consider my style save the car at all costs. Its worked so far

If it were not for the lag issue I could see D1-3 being full damage or something along those lines.

Consider: why is D8 allowed to use traction control? My guess is because at that level they are still developing the skill set of throttle control along with various other fundamentals. Give a rookie that GTR with no TC and we run the risk of simply frustrating them to the point they don't come back. "Tough love" is not always the best method of developing peoples shortcomings.

I didn't think it was really 30 years ago, so I had to look it up and indeed, that song debuted August 3, 1984. I wasn't really into Metallica at that time, but the Metallica album with Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven, Wherever I May Roam, Nothing Else Matters was. I still have the cassette and my Sony Walkman that I used to listen to it. Or blasting Enter Sandman while cruising the town in my red 1987 Volvo 740 GLE Turbo with a sunroof. Yea, I was cool.

Good times.
That would be the "Black" album...

The problem is that the heavy damage setting does not discriminate between the clean and the careless driver so in the event of a collision the innocent party can be punished as much or even more severely as the "dirty/careless" driver who caused the problem in the first place .

I absolutely love the way snail is ran and orchestrated! Heavy damage would completely change the dynamic of our current racing strategy. I only see this as being a hinderance without any true gain. This is the system, for those that would like to see a change, please don't stir the pot. You took the choice to join this league, so therfore please be supportive and accepting?!

Great responses by bowler, user and turnup, thank you to everyone who makes our league so enthralling...

Including heavy damage in an attempt to create better racecraft and better racing in general is a myth. As far as I understand from what I see around, lack of racecraft or sportsmanship is not the primary cause of racing accidents in snail. Although might be some people out there that pushes the boundaries of decency a little too far, the vast majority of snails works hard on they're clean approach to the races and what causes 98% of the accidents is, first of all, the fact that basically most of us have no real life racing experience so we make tons of pure amateur mistakes like missing breaking points or not noticing a car right beside us.

IV been thinking and IV decided to not race in the league anymore. I did enjoy the 3 Sundays I was in, but there are some rules I don't agree with and I would like to focus more time on drag racing. Thank you for the good time div 4 hmu if y'all wanna race and that goes for all divisions.

You'll be on the inactive list, but you can always return, just let jlbowler know by the weekend if you want to race. It was good battling with ya. Hope to race with you again in the future.

Spot on analysis, Lessen.

It has been brought to my attention that nearly none of the D8 guys actually use TC. I didn't mean to put them on the spot or challenge their abilities. The point was simply to illustrate that the ruling on aids for that division is there for a specific reason, to allow for controlled development if needed. OK, now that I'd beat the snot out of that horse... carry on. :)

D8 is allowed to use all aids. But for the must part noone does.

Not quite correct. Our lowest division is allowed to use ABS (like everyone else), TCS, and the driving line if they request to do so. They may not be promoted if they are using these aids. SRF and ASM are not allowed in any division.
