As the co-series director for the Tuesday SNAIL Touring Car Series and Wednesday SNAIL Race Car Series, I'm happy to congratulate @vovik05 for taking the series champions in both TCS and RCS this past season.

With the above comes the announcement that we are now accepting applications for new drivers to join the fun in both series. If your looking for something to do on Tuesdays and/or Wednesdays, please check out the threads for the Tuesday Touring Car Series or Wednesday Race Car Series and sign up in the thread. The next season for both series starts on 3/17 and 3/18 respectfully and would love to have some quality SNAILS join the fun. Space is limited so if your interested, don't delay.

If you have any questions about either of these series, please let me know. Hope to see you on the track.

Regards, Grim and Zii

#TBT

I've never actually wrecked a car before, but I've spun out several times being a hooligan. The only time I hurt the car doing this was when I misjudged the curbing on an on-ramp in the rain...

What happened was, I was driving my E30 in the rain and I was drifting around a little in safe places like I used to do *cough* some times when the roads were empty. I just set up my entry onto an on-ramp, turning right, when I realized that the median curbing that I thought stopped and turned into a painted line... kept going about 50ft further. However, I had already committed the car to a line that was taking me straight for the curb (sideways) instead of to the empty lane I expected to be there.

So, to keep from curbing my rear wheel at an awful angle and snapping it or breaking an axle, I countersteered to straighten up the car with the curb as fast as possible. I managed to hit it straight, but the rotation meant that as I jumped through the air the car kept rotating and I ended up spinning 90 degrees when I landed and slid into the grass. The car made it out with just a slightly bent rim, alignment was still fine and it didn't even need to be rebalanced. I got out and was a little shaky from adrenaline, but it looked alright so I drove it home.

Also, if anyone is curious, this is what it looks like after you lock up the rears on an E30 from 110-0mph sideways at full lock. (from a separate event...) I was trying to test my brakes and I discovered the previous owner put much better pads on the rear than the front and they flat spotted instantly... They were really awful dry rotted BFGs (my other excuse)

Well, that's some of my adventures being stupid in a $1000, 30 year old car. (see my signature)

At age 15 I got my first car. Spent the summer body working it, had it freshly painted and installed new tires and a sound system by the time I was able to drive it at 16. Less than 3 months later, driving home from high school for lunch in the rain, it all happened in front of me. Two lane one way street. Mini van mom in front of me changes lanes into a pickup, they both get sideways in a slide. I locked 'em up and t-boned the mini van. "It was so not my fault!" Of course, I was following way too close and driving too fast for the conditions. But a sixteen year old is NEVER at fault.

I love these throwback stories!
