Finally had a chance to go through some pics of my short vacation up in the Rockies. If you've never been to Banff or Lake Louise in Alberta, go. It's one of the most amazing and peaceful places I have been. This is my 6th or 7th time going now, and it won't be the last. Spent time hiking at Emerald Lake, Lake Louise, and Moraine Lake. We also got the chance to play with and feed wolves which was such a cool experience!

Man, up close and personal with the wolves:scared::sly: and bears ... Nice shots

Thanks! Believe it or not, wolves are actually more afraid of us than we really should be of them. A few of them would not come near us. A few of them have more dog traits in them than wolf traits due to breeding, so they would be wagging their tails and laying in the grass with us.

As for the bear, he was just walking along the side of the highway eating the flowers, and he let us pull up side of him about 3 feet away. He wasn't bothered by us at all.

I looked at the pictures before your comments and thought it had to be a husky or something , not a wild wolf

Some do look like huskies because some of them are adopted from people that owned them as pets, and wolves don't generally make good pets. Those ones are typically bred with dogs, so they won't be 100% wolf.

:bowdown:Amazing shots! Canada is such a beautiful place.

@Falango

I've always wanted to go to one of those wolf rescue parks but I never have (jealous)! My pup is supposedly up to 12% but there's no hard evidence for it other than he's got dem golden eyes! Also, those really are amazing shots (double jealous). What kind of hardware did you bring?

Oh, and here is my co-driver in his typical Sunday night spot.

If you get the chance to @ConnorWolf, do it, it's awesome! At first glance, it's hard to differentiate wolves from huskies, but it looks like he's got a longer, narrower snout than most huskies too. At 12% though, it is tough to really see the differences. Awesome dog though :D

@Falango ,

Those are seriously good photos man.

sweet shots @Falango it does look so peaceful there

Thanks guys, appreciate it! Absolutely nothing compared to some of the stuff I've seen up there. Was browsing a gallery in Banff from Jason Leo Bantle, and the moments he's captured up in those mountains is just unreal. Check out his stuff at http://bantlephoto.com/

I'm using a Canon 60D with Magic Lantern software, a 15-85mm F3.5, 55-250mm kit lens, 8mm Rokinon F3.5 fisheye, and 100-400 F4.5 lens.

Well folks, It happened. I can officially say I am a race car driver. To be able to race with my 82 year old grandfather, and to get a podium on my VERY first race, has left me utterly speechless. There's still lots to learn, like how not to drift all over the place, (You should have seen practice & qualifying, it was like Tokyo Drift gone wild :lol: ) but I finished the day with a 1:22.1 in a car that has been sitting in a barn for a year. (SCCA gus run 1:17-18s on a good day) Kick the tires, charge up the battery and away we go! Here's the Video. Ended up third out of 7 vees, me starting last because I'm a Novice... would have started 4th. Three wide exiting T1 on lap 1 with my grandpa in the middle, and the other novice Darren Grandbois on the outside. I won't spoil the ending for you, but all I can say is watch it's entirety because it's action packed the whole way through!

I went to Banff for the first time this winter to snowboard. It was absolute gorgeous, I can't imagine what it must look like all (most) of the snow is gone. Excellent pics btw!

Thanks! I've yet to see it in the winter, but I've thought about taking a trip up there for some snowboarding. I'd like to take a trip up there to do more photography around the first snowfall as well. It would be great to see it all with just a little bit of snow down at the lake level.

Am not able to join the Div-5 Room.
Will keep trying - but if all is good in the room, go ahead without me.
Sorry for the difficulties tonight.
