Crap! Time to start the PS4/ New Wheel fund! I was hoping to be able to put it off for a little while longer but....

.... mmmmm... I have a spare unopened 500GB PS3 with GTA 5 sitting in my basement (well, I opened it to see if all the parts were there and I loaded GTA 5 in my old PS3. I couldn't get the villian out of the first room, so I shut it down, put the game back in the PS3 box and there is where it sat for the last 9-12 months..... as a contingency in case my old PS3 packs up.

Maybe it's time to look for a buyer for the PS3 and use that as partial funding for a PS4 and new wheel....

Dear Santa,

I've been a really really good boy this year....

What's the speed with which SNAIL goes to the new game/console once it's out? Just so I can start planning this move, as I'll need console, wheel and game...

Wow, what an announcement aye? I am going to keep my eye on how this develops. Got a TIG welder for my bday and have been planning out a new rig. Now this announcement, along with native Sony VR support. Couldn't find a definitive answer, but if the Sony VR headset works on a PC, I may actually consider a next gen. And that demo had a lot to do with it. Going to be neat to see how that works out.

And for all of you with a G27 considering a PS4 but not sure you wanna bit the bullet on a new wheel, there is this option. The short of it is that it is a DIY box that will allow a G27 to function properly on the PS4. It uses a raspberry pi, a couple of cables and a protoboard, but it appears that it allows for full functioning of the g27, FFB and apparently is lag free. Just a more cost efficient alternative if you are of a mind.

The switch of just a game was a couple of months in the workings. A lot of that I think had to do with some of the functions not available in GT6 at the time of release.
Switching full consoles, games and probably hardware, now that is going to be a lot more tricky. However, given the fact that the game will be in beta, I think it fair to say we are about a year premature in this talk. A lot can happen in that time.

GT6 released on Dec. 5, 2013 and we ran our first Sunday night race using GT6 on Dec. 15, 2013.

Of course that only involved a change in the game and not the console as well. There won't be any serious change over discussion until there is a release date for the full game at the earliest but you can bet on the fact that there will eventually be a change over as the online functionality of GT6 won't be kept operational forever.

Thank you, Bowler. I'll keep an eye out for this and start getting ready to get a 4.

And then there's me, who has a DFGT since 2008... I can't get used to other wheels since I've been racing with it for 7 years now. How did you guys adapt to a different wheel, any tips? I have a Thrustmaster T500RS sitting right next to me every time I race, but when I drive with it I'm inconsistent and my PB of any combo is down by minimum 2 tenths.

Is that non force feedback?

1. Take the DFGT off it's stand.
2. Put the T500RS on it's stand.
3. Put the DFGT in a box and do not remove it from the box.
4. Use the new wheel until you don't remember how you got by with the DFGT.

Any change is not going to net instant results. It takes some time to get used to the differences.

Humans are creatures of habit. The more you use something, the more you adapt. You'll eventually find your pace, and possibly more!

Ninja'd by Bowler, who said it better.

Yeah, I mean honestly. Practice. I went from a Momo wheel, 270degree lock to lock. It took me a while to get used too 900, especially drifting! But faw, I could not be bothered to race on 270 again.

Did we really switch over that fast? I thought we went through some practices and testing that took longer than that... Hmm, well, I've never been one for remembering.

Spot on.
This also applies if you take the leap from a controller to the wheel.

As of right now you have a few to chose from start from low to high

Thrustmaster T150 for 199$

Thrustmaster T300 for 399&

Logitech g29 for 399$

Thrustmaster T500 for 599$

And a few fanatec wheels

The Thrustmasters T150 and T300 don't come with a shifter so I'd have to buy that as I don't want to use paddles for everything. That alone is $150. And it doesn't work with the T150 so I have to get the T300. Total cost $500...

I don't think we need to go into too much of a hype right now. Kamakazi said they will start Beta testing early in the new year.... They will use the community to do so.

Full release is still many months away from Beta Testing. And we know how incomplete the full release of GT6 was. So, you can look for bargain sales on PS4s and wheels now, but no need to rush to the shops. I put GT7 (or GT Sport?) 12-18 months out there

And here I was all excited about getting a G27 wheel, even though it's more than likely going to be used, I was looking for a inexpensive way to upgrade. Ohh well, it's not 'till 2016 so things could change and finances wouldn't be an issue.

Just saying, there is this option.
BTW @Vitessekid looks like it is DFGT compatible as well.

Thanks everyone for the tips. I should really put some time into the T500RS. @Lessen it does, just not as much as the T500RS (I don't know the force feedback of other new generstion wheels). Though when I set the force feedback settings, it does change imo.
