I've seen more and more of these lately and they do look cool, but that also look a bit weird. That single rear wheel also makes me question it's roll-over ability when driving hard.

Who should I bet on for F1 qualifying and the race this week? The safe bet on Hamilton? Take a risk with Rosberg or go for the huge payout on Vettel?
Rosberg will still be crying, his vision blurred, he will then take out Hamilton. Go with Vettel :)

NBCSN is on live with FP1. At least it's not raining. I just want to see the track.

Why do they have to change the layout just to bring it up to date? Just give it better curbing and what not. It didn't seem overly quick before. The last turn makes sense but the esses is what I'm thinking about it.

Hell, with the rain in the forecast, there might be 3 other teams with a shot. If it stays wet RBR might even have a shot. Pity Williams has kinda fallen off the race pace.

Track was horribly bumpy and they had to Tilkeize it.

Yea, I feel bad for Williams. They always show signs of doing well but they haven't made any progress this year. This year was much better than last year but still not close enough to the other teams once upgrades get going. And they even have a Mercedes power unit. I want to say engine but what with all the nonsense electronics in there now...

I don't care that Rosberg is a brat and Hamilton was a po' black child. I don't care who's faster. Hamilton is still a bully on the track and MB is allowing it. And I like MB as a manufacturer too. If Hamilton was all that much better, he ought to be able to get around Rosberg without hogging up the entire track.

Agreed. Perez didn't last long at Mclaren trying some of that crap against Jenson. That driver change was nice to see.

Might this be the continued downsizing of GT Academy? Darren Cox has stepped down at Nissan.

Like the article speculates, I suspect it had more to do with the disappointing LMP run this year.

GTAcademy was getting a little old in the tooth. It doesn't mean the concept needs to go away, but time to revamp it as the old program has pretty much ran it's course. With the drop of the TV program last year, a major revenue stream was dropped. Hopefully PD is still committed to doing something and this PD/FIA partnership will have some new driver apprenticeship program.

Turn 1 at COTA you can clearly see on the Hamilton on-board footage that he has his wheel turned in and he's turning. Then he goes back to the right a little bit, making the car go wide to the edge of the track, leaving no room for Rosberg. Wasn't there a rule saying you can make a single defensive move but have to leave a car's width, can't go to the edge? That as a response to Rosberg overtaking someone in China a few years back where he went in sand right?

As promised, promotion and relegation is completed. The drivers list is updated. Please check the list for any possible omissions and let me know. There is one driver currently in the registration process so there may be some minor changes between now and Sunday depending on where that driver lands.

I will be locking the October division threads and the division managers can go ahead and create new threads for November.

If I was Rosberg I would have filed an IR for that move at the start of the race....

You don't need to look at it so detailed. A F1 steering wheel can turn 180°. So Hamilton did it on purpose. Though, if he left space, Rosberg would have gotten the inside for turn 2 and Hamilton would have to defend from P3 because it was lap 1, it's packed. That's where Rosberg would run away, and Hamilton can't afford to have that. He wants the world title.

I was watching the latin american broadcast for the Austin race and one of the guest was Juan Montoya making some commentaries, I don't remember his exact words but basically he said that Hamilton has dominated Rosberg mentally since last year. And the move on the first corner is the reflection of that, Rosberg is not aggressive enough, so everyone is going to take advantage of that, not just Hamilton. I agree.

Also keep an eye on the forum, something special is coming up. If you never check the forums you're going to miss it.

If you can tell us something special is coming up, you probably know what it is. Could you tell us or is it a secret?

It's secret for now, it's something really good. Maybe I'm rushing but everyone will know what it is very soon... As a hint, Snails with shells keep an eye out.
Right now, for a special occasion, you can buy a reserved seat to the GT Academy 2016! You just need 30K shells.

That's all I can think of, I have no logical mind reading powers D: Halp.

I'm running a 2:02.5 at Silverstone. How slow is that for D2?
I just ran a 1:58:3, 5 thats around D1 time, 1:59.000 or lower 2:00 is D2

Guys, come register in the Time Trial Events...the more of us that use it, the more useful the data is. Even if you can't post your best time at first, there is no shame in that and no penalty for multiple runs. Right now, when I create the event I do a run right away without even practicing just to give an idea of mid-division with 12 min practice.

From the current results, which are few, you can see that D4 drivers are posting times in the 2:00 - 2:02 range

Keep in mind these are best laps.

I am updating the spreadsheet several times daily, so you can check your results with others.

I am a big Hamilton fan,but I have to admit he has been a bully on track, and he gets too focused on others at times. I know that if Rosberg did that move on him in T1 @ COTA, Hamilton would have been on the radio instantly. Hamilton seems to know what he can do within the rules though, and he'll do it.

Rosberg did just hand it to him later though. Rosberg's season can be summed up with that. He just hasn't been able to capitalize on the opportunities he's had.

Well his hero is Senna and would Senna have done any less? Senna would not let off til his opponent did. From then on he had the upper hand on that driver. Hamilton is emulating this.

If Rosberg were to hold his line, and Hamilton makes contact taking them both out of the race, I think the Merc team is going to change their view of what's going on.

I agree, Hamilton is in Rosberg's head. It'll be interesting to see if Hamilton lets up now that he's secured the championship. You know the team wants to secure that second place as well. Will Hamilton assist?
