Thank you! I was actually thinking about this today as we haven't had a chance to showcase our photos since you took over banner duties. I look forward to how you incorporate them.
I started doing it that way because as you know when Falango was doing them his biggest complaint was lack of photos to choose from and getting them posted before Sunday.
So I thought I would give it another try and see how it goes.

We have more members since then so hopefully some of them like taking photos

Something is different...I can't quite figure it out...something just seems wrong...like a glitch in the Matrix or something...

Oh wait...here it is...

YES!!!! I've been waiting SO LONG for the X-Bow to be used! It's such a great track day car, it can handle just about anything you throw at it

Who are you and what have you done with the Penguin?

KTM X-BOW Street '12

My average lap time - Not really an average as I only ran a couple but 2:13. If my math is correct, that puts us solidly in the 5 lap range and you should be able to knock out two in the five minute qualifying. Someone with more time than I have can double check that for me if you would please.

The lap time is acceptable.... if you can get around turn 1 and 2 clean.... On the rest of the track the car is a blast!. My advice will be to remember Elise on the big Willow.... do not let off the gas pedal completely when slowing down in turn 1 and 2 and also in the spoon curve.

Mr Penguin - seems like you know how it should be done. Any advise from your side? There is going to be lots of places to lose or gain in turn 1 and 2

Too late to get on now but I'll set up a practice room tomorrow. Most often with the sweepers, less steering input is usually better. I've been driving the car a lot to see what tracks it's good at and Suzuka is certainly one of them.

I would like to try using people's race photos for Sunday banners again. I know @TomMang_68 and @Raw10_2u are big contributors to the medium.
So if anyone would like to post photos in the main thread, media thread or even pm me some photos for consideration ... I'll be on the look out. Thank you. 👍

Will try and get some up for you this evening Sir!Have been taking pictures, but haven't bee getting them to the thread:confused:.

The Sunday Combo page have been updated with Dec 13 information.

Round 2 will be 6 min Qually (Alfa on SPA)

Round 3 will stay on 5 min Qually, but you'll have to make the best of the first hot lap - there is not much buffer for mistakes....

Why not keep all qualys 5 minutes. The run up allows the first lap to be a "hot lap" at speed so i would think that's all we need.

Lots and lots of maintenance throttle. Get the weight shifted to the rear and keep it there for as long as possible through T1, then when it becomes time to brake, smooth and quick inputs are your friend. Squeeze onto the brake and straightline the car as much as possible. Trailbrake a smidge at turn in to get the nose pointed down to the apex, then roll onto the throttle once more to stabilize the rear for T2. Whoever can do this most effectively will most likely win the combo

We decided that we will target two hot laps in 6 minutes or less. So, if we can do two hot laps in 5 minutes we set it at 5. When we get to the point where we can't get two hot laps in 6 minutes (around 2:45.xxx lap times) we will go back to 5 min and only run one hot lap. Historically it works out that ~90-95% of the combos will be 5 min qually.

I have been having issues with my game locking up while racing and causing me to loose positions and possibly disturbing others. I thought it might have been the disc so I purchased a new one but still had the same issue. It was also causing slow navigation through the game.

I concluded that my PS3 was the issue (it was happening in other games) and purchased another PS3 console.

Being a Playstation Plus member, all game progress was easily transferred to the new PS3 and after transferring the data from the old PS3 to the new one, it took about 30 minutes, I didn't have to load all the GT6 updates, which would have been a nightmare with 21 updates.

Transferring the data was very easy and saved me a ton of time and it also transferred all of the games that I purchased through the Playstation store. Any games that were loaded on disc, Playstaion Plus saved all the games progress.

I highly recommend transferring the data than loading GT6 and going through the headache of loading all the updates which can take hours.

👍👍

Still sounds like it would be more consistent to keep everything at 5 minutes. Most of that extra minute we'll be sitting watching the clock anyway. Oh well , I guess I can "chat" with Bob Marley at that time ;)

IF we are going to limit to one lap, then all qually times should be based on mid division time + 1 min rounded up or something. That would limit the "stand around time" on race night.

Personally, I like being able to get in 2 laps, and even the current threshold can be pretty thin...hit the sand in Suzuka and you won't be able to finish a second lap. I think it really sucks when you mess up one lap and don't get a chance to do a second. (Said on behalf of those that mess up from time to time)

I mess up all the time lol,, so I would be one to miss that chance often but I'd be good with that. I'm just looking for more racing , less qually and less down time for earlier finishes overall. (said on behalf of the ones that need to get to bed on Sunday night lol;))

Done my little dog bark now ,, I'm happy racing the current format

@USERID_77a23 If it is decided to go with one lap, I am fine with it, but might as well save as much time as possible in that case. Could probably cut almost 10 min a night...since most would be 3-4 min qually. But really, in most divisions, the extra 3 minutes saved going from 6 to 5 is insignificant. 10-20 times that is wasted just mucking about.

5 Min is the minimum setting available. 95% of the combos in the year will be 5 min qually

The time we get for qualifying works great and see no reason to change it.

@USERID_77a23 the only issues for each division not finishing within the two hours is because of; I can't see everyone. Well, back out and clear your cache, we'll wait (or) XXXX keeps getting disconnected and say we'll wait (or) everyone back out, there's some stuck at the start/finish line. Does everyone remember what position you qualified. Line up (or) having to open another room because of to many disconnects (or) you have someone who volunteers to host, God bless them, but doesn't really have the connection to do so and problems occur.

We used to run 10 min qualifiers in GT5 and finished on time, mostly.

This is an interesting discussion. I almost thought the points were awarded for qualifying ;) In my opinion you only need one lap for qualifying. Qually should be about setting the field, period. It's about what can you do one time around, so why do we need to do it twice? this may sound cold, but I have little pity for the stance of "if I make a mistake". Well... Don't make a mistake. :D Remember, it's not about how fast CAN you go, rather than how fast can you go NOW. Everybody should be asking themselves... Can I drive this car at 101% at any moment? If your answer is no, then you shouldn't. Drive it within your ability and let the chips fall as they may. Then... Race it! After all, that's the part of all this that really matters.

hmm @Lessen, thanks for your opinion as reply which I respect, but this is your subjective opinion, mine is another, anyway, let's SNAIL around

The entire time I raced I don't think we went over 2.5 hours on any night. If it takes longer than 2.5 hours, the room is spending to much time catering to folks with broken equipment, be it their PS3, network or whatever. Not that it happened frequently but, when the room ran "perfectly" we got done in just under 2 hours. It was also rare that a race night lasted more than 2 hours 15 minutes.

If folks want to be selfish and get a room to wait for them, the room has no one to blame but themselves.

As for qualifying, those 4 points up for grabs can win a night and/or a season. Consider this, if a driver managed to win every pole in a season (12 poles+4 for the hat tricks), that's as much as a first place finish in 1 race. If that ever happened there oughta' be an award called "The Pole Dancer" for it.:lol:

Right, that's why F1 only lets them have 1 lap as well...

And if he win all races in the season - can we call him a lap dancer?:rolleyes:
