Oh and I suddenly remember about something. 3 Snail members were testing the old Logitech wheels on the PS4. How are the results?

I'm still waiting for parts to arrive to build my pi version but @nmcp1 got his running as of yesterday I believe. I'll let him post his results. Not sure how @CoachMK21 is making out with his.

I put the device together just fine, but had a problem with the crappy laptop to work right. Currently stuck at this point, since I don't know what the heck is wrong with it. Other than it runs Windows 8 and is generally a terrible performing laptop.

This is a topic that is sure to rack up a few posts. 👍

My USB converter took over 2 weeks to get here. :banghead:

Sorry you're have laptop issues @CoachMK21 Maybe an upgrade to Windows 10 may clear the cobwebs? I'm actually running a close to 8 year old Vista laptop.

As @aerolite mentioned above I finally got everything working properly. It's the real deal folks! Wheel works like a charm, FFB is super strong (had to dial it back in game), pedal inputs feel great and the shifter and all it's buttons even work too! I'm in the process of putting together a quick diagram to help others who want to tackle this job. It's not difficult at all but the directions leave a few key pieces of info out. I should have it done tomorrow.

Ditto that

That sounds pretty awesome, looking forward to hearing about it...good news for people who want to upgrade on the cheap. Pick up a G27 cheap from people who are upgrading and put in a few extra bucks and effort into a solution like this... if I ever get the cash together for a PS4 I know it will be my route. (But with a new mortgage and kids in University, might not be for some time...maybe not until GT8...lol)

TBH I personally am concinced that the Audi archivements in that period of rallye time would not have been possible without the personal skills of Walter Röhrl, amazing German Rally Driver, and the following vid is a masterpiece of 1987, showing the S1 Audi Pikes Peak Rally Car, at the beginning starting issues with loss of power on the car (due to different height atmosphere values) and at the end an amazing win by beating the year before record here by 21 sec  , Walter once said that you can do everything with this S1 car, except driving it on a straight :) , enjoy guys, sry for Alemania comment partly :embarrassed:

;) @Sedia3

PS: hurry up posting SNAILagians, remember @zer05ive 's Chrismas Present :D

I really liked the button activated clutch!

@singlepaddy sorry about the photos:banghead: I totally forgot about the print at the bottom of the pics!Maybe next time I will get it right.

@nmcp1 as you managed to do it, I'm guessing you used this link to connect the wheel?

Yep that's the one. Although there are some key pieces to the puzzle missing from that set of instructions. Here's what you are ultimately after:

PS4_GIMX_zpsnmhgb0vn.jpg

Notes & Links:

-GIMX DIY USB adapter for Dummies This is the basis for the majority of the instructions. I would read through there thoroughly as it gives you a step by step guide on what to buy, where to buy it & how to install the software. Once you fully understand those instructions, supplement them with my notes below.
-USB Serial Converter: Buy from someone in the US or you'll be waiting F..O..R..E..V..E..R The Teensy took 2 days to arrive while the converter took over 2 weeks.
-Logitech Drivers for the wheel need to be installed on the PC/laptop you are using. (This is not mentioned on the wiki site) You can download them here. Just make sure to select the appropriate Wheel and Windows version for your particular application.
-DS4 must be plugged in to the PC/laptop but does not need to be on. As far as I can tell this is required for some sort of authentication process on the PS4. (Also not mentioned on the wiki site)
-Firmware: When you download the firmware from the links in the instructions it will have a bunch of folders that are mostly unnecessary. The folder you need is EMUG29PS4 and its contents. This was initially confusing because the hex file you need to load exists in all the folders. Regardless of the wheel you have, you are always going to be emulating a G29 wheel, hence the folder name.
-GIMX Software: At the end of installing the GIMX software make sure you also install USBDK and CP210x driver.
-Config file for GIMX Software: The first time you run gimx-launcher you will be prompted to download a config file. Select the file for your specific wheel. (DFGT/G25/ G27) For G25 & G27 users there are 2 files to choose from. The only one that worked for me was the LogitechG27_G29_W10.xml. The file without the W10 didn't work and I have no clue what the difference between the 2 version is.
-The connector for the Teensy chip (Mini-B USB) is the same as a DS3 controller from a PS3. NOT a Micro connector like most cell phones use.
-If you are short on USB ports, a non-powered USB Hub has been proven to work. (Bought mine at a Five Below)
-While not required, having a mouse on hand may help when the PC gets confused with all the input devices. Most laptops will turn off the touch pads when other sources are detected even though those sources can’t be used to control the laptop.
-Playing on PS4 with a Logitech Driving Force GT & G27 with FFB GTPlanet forum thread with videos showing the adapter in use.
-GIMX Forum In case you run into any issues. The guy who wrote the software (Matlo) is very responsive and helpful.

As ususal, the instructions for work-arounds like these look daunting and involved but if you take your time and READ READ READ, and did I mention READ SOME MORE, you'll at least avoid some of the confusion I experienced when trying to put this thing together. Good Luck!

Oh, I didn't know you needed to connect the wheel and the DS4 to the PC too. Looks like I won't be doing the mod as it's too troublesome, my PC is 3 meters away from the place I'll be putting my PS4 but 5 - 6m away from my DFGT.

What wheel is similar to the DFGT? I've heard that the T150RS is very similar to it. Can the G29's FFB be reduced to make it feel like the DFGT?

Thanks for the write up Nuno. I didn't read anywhere about the DS4 having to be connected either! I don't think my setup should really be much different to yours as the Rasperry Pi is just a mini computer. I will make sure I add an extra usb port to my unit.
I will document my entire setup from initial hardware install to final programming. I think there will be a number of people, like myself, who don't have a computer close by or don't feel like dragging a laptop to their sim area. I've mentioned to a few fellow SNAIL's already that if the Pi version works well and is fairly easy to do, then I might make up a few units if the cost can be kept low.
I could just as easily buy a new wheel today and be using my PS4, but to me it is the principle of the matter. I realize there are some people here that just won't be able to afford a new wheel plus a PS4, so if I can help out there I will.

Wow Hi loydz! Long time no see.
Funny, yesterday Tommang and I were talking about SNAIL's from the Ottawa area and I mentioned Lloydz. Then he posts for the first time in ages not more than a couple hrs later!

I know, big deal, but it's another post to get us closer!
Yeah I'll be coming back soon, I sold everything to get a ps4 and a new wheel for project cars, but now I miss gt6 to much. Miss racing with everyone

The steward summary has been posted. It is here.

The results have been updated and are official. They can be found here.

The report is late due to a technical issue (the operator, me, forgetting a step in making the sheet work). I apologize for the lateness. Due to the report being so late, any steward votes to place drivers on the LCL that need to be done will be extended to have voting completed by Monday 11 PM ET. Any consequences of these votes will not go into effect until the first week of the Jan. season.

Up next is the drivers list update and placing new drivers. Thanks for your patience.

So... this summer my boy got into a Lego robotics group and has REALLY taken a liking to it. He can really sink his teeth into the programming aspect of it. Now that the program has concluded for the year he's a bit bummed so I thought I'd tackle a little fun project with him combining our hobbies.

The goal: Build and program a robot that will control a Playstation DS4 to drive 1 lap around a racetrack. We just finished building a mount for a DS4 out of Lego Technic parts. The next step is to mount motors and design linkage to actually engage with the DS4.

May be a little late to tonight's races because friends over for a Christmas party, and excuse my driving if I'm all over, i will be drinking.
