I'm hoping GT Sport will dramatically increase SNAIL memberships, and hopefully bring back some old vets. Wish I was here when you guys had like 8 divisions and membership was through the roof. But I'm happy to have found this, this is exactly what I've been looking for.
All of us that have gone to the dark side are truly hoping that GTSport is better than PCars and AS. If it is, then we are in for a great sim.
When I started (in D8) it was an amazing place to be introduced to online racing, so many people and so many good times. I miss that, but the new gen sims on PS4 are amazing.
We will know soon enough, until then, happy racing!

I have to say D8 was GREAT , HA HA But I think there was alot more playing around then racing .The BIG AIR rooms come to mind finding the glitches and excaping the track .Watching the flying cars ,making the cars dance on there nose at willow .We had some late nights full of laughter and fun . There was some racing too but alot of good times and friends thats why I am still here .Great friends and very good people thru the whole body of SNAIL .

Right now it's out of stock so I'm guessing some of you guys got the deal?

If you get a complete lap in with no fishtailing it can be right around 2:00 even, but any little mishaps and it'll definitely be 2:01-2:02. The exit of Le Source (Turn 1 hairpin) and the Bus Stop Chicane (last two turns) are key points on the track.

Those who make mistakes will spent more than 12 minutes racing then.... :sly:

Yea I don't mind. I'm steadily in the 2:02s, maybe 2:03s. Always a little mistake here and/or there. I figure it's a "soft" 12 minutes, so as long as we don't go too far over leaning on 13 minutes then it's okay.

12 minutes is suppose to be the mid division cut off. If you're pushing 13 maybe it's too many laps.

There is a relatively simple formula for coming up with race laps. 12 minutes is not a "soft" number, it is in fact a hard limit for the mid-division time. As SNAIL sits right now, mid-division is the slower times from D2 and the faster times from D3. It is not the time that a D1 driver can run and then a guess based on that. If those times are 2:00.001 then we should be running five laps. You will also notice that is says the average mid-division lap time and not the perfect mid-division lap time.

The text below is from the SNAIL OLR / P&G thread and it is what we have been using since the start of the October 2015 season.

Race laps will be determined by taking the average mid-division lap time and running as many laps as possible without going over 12 minutes. Example: If the average mid-division lap time is 1:45 the number of laps will be 6. The formula is more or less as follows: 720 seconds divided by lap time in seconds. We will take the whole number and drop anything past the decimal point and that is the number of laps. Under no circumstances will the average lap time multiplied by the number of laps give us a number greater than 720 seconds which is 12 minutes.

I may mis-remember but, I don't think SNAIL has ever done more than 5 laps in any one race at Spa on a Sunday night. The IRL lap record is 1:47.xxx in a 2009 F1 car.

edit; I think some folks seem to forget the target is not to hit 12 minutes. The target is not to exceed 12 minutes and not be less than 10 minutes. When lap times are on the borders of the maths, it becomes a fight twixt lust for more and brutal practicality.
