This cost me next to nothing. A bunch of wood beams cut to size, lots of nails and a chair with no legs on it.
Granted, the position is not for everyone, but it's what I wanted, so it took me about 2 hours of thinking and planning and another 2 of cutting and nailing.
It looks like crap, my woman hates it, but I love it, it's just like I wanted and it allows me to race. That's all I need.

I'm off tomorrow. I'm gonna measure some distance in my car and go to Ace Hardware down the road and get any idea how much I need to spend. It's a bit closer than Home Depot.

Things to measure:
-Distance from bottom of wheel straight down to floor
-From there, measure to where the pedals are.
-Distance from bottom of wheel straight across to me sitting in my car so see how far I am.
-What's the best way to measure how far the seat is from the floor?

I try to get at least a few practice laps in on my own to learn the car and an arcade race to get an idea where to overtake and what different lines do/where they put you on track for the next turn. It's better than nothing.

I have a question about my rig. I need to keep some kind of weight on it because the wood itself is light and lifts up when I drive hard. Right now I'm using large cement bricks and they work but the amount I need takes up a lot of space. What can I use that weighs the same but takes up less space? Ideally I want something that can be bolted on so it doesn't move around and they can be mounted on the lower braces to keep the center of gravity lower. Any ideas?
Sandbags, with the added benefit you get to think you're sandbagging your performance ;)

Aside from looking homemade, I figure most wooden rigs do quite well. However, I prefer tube just because of the look, but my wife isn't gonna have a steel tube framed driving rig in her living room either so I guess it doesn't really matter. Good thing I have an office now! :)
I asked for forgiveness, not permission. Fortunately we have a basement family room that my wife rarely uses.

Room open in the club lobby to torture myself in this RUF combo. Will be open until around 10 pm eastern.

EDIT:
I left, but @src_ej6 was in there.

Looks like I'm late to the party. I dont see a room open so I just opened one. Will be open for quite awhile, and I'll also be testing some laptimes for the friday index races

Edit: closed

Steel is more durable. Pay more now and save having to do it again later if the plywood wears out.

If you build it right, plywood is very durable and easy to move in the living room when you add sliding casters. This is the second version of my rig. I rebuilt the top portion when I decided to invert my pedals. Hopefully if it stops raining, I will be wrapping the entire rig in black speaker box carpet tomorrow!

The first one is to keep the spouse happy.

The other links are for everyone, will give you some ideas as to what others have built. After looking at the files, if you can not come up with some idea, then maybe badminton is the sport for you.

For a few years I've thought of something very similar. I may design something similar later this year that encompasses that idea. But with a more premium look. Something "furniture grade".

Hey, I am one of the guys checking out the recruiting lobby. I'm interested in joining for sure.

@dwags222
Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL
