So I've started to dabble in the credit card sign up bonus game, also known as churning. The latest one I just signed up for is more geared towards travel, as you get 50k bonus points which can be transferred to a number of flight partners. This will help with a vacation my girlfriend and I have planned to go to Hawaii in May once she graduates college. And hopefully another trip to Scandinavia and the Baltics later in the year. The only catch to get these points is you need to spend $4k in the first 3 months.

So to help me supplement this, I'm thinking of making the leap of faith into the VR World. Have any of you bought the PSVR headset? Thoughts? Is it worth it? I know I can get plenty of feedback in other threads or forums, but I value your opinions more here.

I tried it a few months ago at a demo day thanks to @Die_Birdy_Die ? who linked it. I was pretty blown away, for the mere 10 minutes I tried it. I know it's an expensive toy, and I know I'll enjoy it. The question is will the "coolness" wear off after awhile, and then find it collecting dust until the next bigger and badder one comes out.

I can help you spend that $4k and I can guarantee the stuff you buy with it will get used, every day, for many years to come. ;) You'll have to drop ship the stuff to my place for the guarantee to remain in effect however. Let me know if you want the list. :D

Oh I don't doubt that. Some new bolt ons for your Camaro would definitely get used everyday
Precisely. 👍

I could probably spend half that 4K on two appearance mods. Don't even need to get into the performance bolt ons. The other half could be spent on some after market wheels and tires. The performance mods I have in the list so far would probably knock out all or more than the entire amount, and that's just for the motor. Don't even want to start on suspension and non-drive train mods.

So, you want that list or what?

I'll even get a sticker magnet made with your chosen name/logo to stick to the car for when I AX or track it. Ain't I generous? :P

Lobban made me the coolest walking stick! All the black lines with grey inside are famous racetracks that wrap around the stick. And of course yellow and black is my fav color combo. He even made little tires to border the handgrip. What a bud!

It's supposed to work with GT Sport, so I doubt it would collect dust. Also there are some other cool games coming out that support VR.

The VR part of GTS is apparently separate from the main game. and most certainly the online portion... from the last I read on the subject.

Yes it was me, And I'm not sure about the usability, or if it is just a niche market thing. Game makers don't appear to be making a lot of games for it and the ones that are are small studio makers. I too have looked at it a few times and just kind of hummed and hawed.

Now as for filling up a credit card use it for your everyday purchase and pay it off immediately, gas, groceries, going to dinner/ the movies. I too am looking at getting a card for the very same reason.

Yeah Birdy, everything I pay for these days is done on my card. I have 2 new cards, one allows for 5% cash back on select quarterly spending. So the first quarter of 2017, all spending at gas stations and grocery stores gets you 5% back. Then the next quarter its a different category, and so on. Its a cool perk and might as well take advantage of it. Of course if you arent responsible with your money you can find youself in a bottomless pit of debt with horrible credit. Luckily I never had a credit card when I was younger and wasnt faced with the temptation of spending money that wasnt really there to spend. If anyone has any questions about it you can PM me and I'll give you more info. Good credit makes life much easier.

The good ole days of churning. Back in the day when I was in banking, the easiest way to max your churn was to go to the bank and buy travelers checks. Then the next week deposit the travelers checks in to your checking account, then I think you can figure out the next step, pay down your CC , and repeat this process. You are not taking a cash advance ,which does not go towards reward programs. You are buying a consumer good.

Most banks have some sort of premier account ranking which allows no fee on purchases of travel checks.

Suggest you contact your bank and a few surrounding banks, credit unions, to see if this loophole still exists.

I plan to hold out on VR until I hear more. Right now it's not exactly lighting the world on fire. As already mentioned, it sounds like GTS will have limited use of it and I'm not completely sure about the other future race titles. I also think $400 is a bit high for VR on a console, especially considering the performance could possibly be reduced if not running a PS4Pro. That's debatable though, I don't know for sure. Anyways, If reviews were amazing I'd could see myself buying in, but most likely only on PC where the titles are more feature filled and I could appreciate it a bit more.

First impressions of the RUF...Its rough to drive. 4 laps into a practice room and I've only gotten 1 half way clean lap. Its going to be fun tonight!

Edit note: After 30 minutes of hot lapping I have changed my tone on the car. Its not rough to drive, its just misunderstood much like our own Penguin! Small input steering and straight line braking is the key to this car. Already into the low 7's with so much more to be gained. See y'all tonight!

Throttle control and small steering inputs, if it steps out a little stay on the gas.

Brake for T1 around 75M, T3 around 100M, T5 around 100M, T7 around 60M, T9 around 50M, T10 around 60M, T11 around 125M.

And to expand a little more... if you miss your braking point its 1000x better to miss it early rather than late. Maybe in some cars you could get away with a late brake, but not this beast. If you carry too much speed through a turn the car will naturally want to drift, which translates to lots of lost time or even loss of control.

There will no doubt be cars sliding all over the place tonight. Learn from it, save the replay(s), and see what's working for other people that you arent doing. If you half-ass it, expect half-ass results on Sunday.

May god be with us in the first turn

Is that a legitimate RUF? The wheels look exactly like the ones in the game.

That's a perfect assessment of the RUF.
Just be careful with thoughts of having tamed it, for that's just the car lulling you into a sense of safety before biting you hard.

It might be a BTR, but the headlight looks if it might be a later model than the '86. Also the front bumper is a bit different

Looks like a 993 model, think it's a ctr2 in the RUF world...

Yes I do love Porsche's

Edit: just dropped the hammer on the G29... so I'll soon be back to racing pcars and AC, even going to base my new racing rig off of my real race car!

I take it you're not hosting @racingchamp30 ? Practice lobby open 1472-6118-3787-3246-2134

If champ ends up being able to host we go there

Edit: closed. started off quietly tonight with only 8 or 9 of us, but finished the night strong with 12. A lot of the usual suspects were MIA

Had a few black screen starts but eventually went away. Glad to see @dwags222 make it to official practice just a few days after joining. See you guys tomorrow for the index races

Be good to see you over on the dark side Robbie! Our SNAIL PITS series on Wed night's is very competitive and we are seeing full rooms more often than not. Resistance is futile, lol

Well I had a friend look at my PS3 and it doesn't sound good, but I'll know for sure by tomorrow if it's a basket case or not!:banghead: So now I have to ask, if my PS3 is done and I have to revert to my PS4, where do I go while I wait for GTS, Assetto Corsa or Project cars? The other problem is that my wheel set up is for my PS4 is the Thrustmaster T80, which I have hardly ever used, but I'm assuming it won't be as good as my G27?
Any help, and opinions are much appreciated!

Witnessed a 2:03 with the RUF at tonight's practice. And many others in 2:04 - 2:05.
Amazing to watch.

All I can say is that my target is to keep the nose in front and the behind behind. I will not try to pass anybody and I will not fight anybody who's trying to pass me - cause the moment you try to be smart with this thing you will face oncoming traffic....
