May I say - if, while racing in SNAIL, GT-6 told my Brain that I should "feel like" I'm in a car ..... GT Sport had every part of me convinced that I was "actually in a car" - not sitting in a SIM Rig over in the corner of our house. Only thing missing was the aroma of a race track: Exhaust, Hot tires, and a guy smokin' a cigar in the grandstands.

GTS is great!!!
And I'm very sure that the SNAIL BoD will get all the Rules & Regs put together - and 100s of Drivers will be flooding the Inbox with applications to join our Fraternity.

Then it will be Off to the Races, just like in the Old Days.

Not to take anything away from your excitement TEX, because I also tried the GTSport demo and thought it was pretty cool. But there is still another level of realism to graduate to, if you're so inclined. Obviously GTSport checks all the boxes for you, and that's fantastic. This next generation is going to be a huge step in the GranTurismo franchise. Myself, having enjoyed Assetto and PCars and now PCars 2... I've learned there's really another whole level of realism. Someday, maybe, but I doubt it for you. I have to say your excitement for GTSport is infectious and quite awesome. :)=👍

Awesome!

That actually makes sense, and sounds much like the AI react to various drivers in the campaign mode.

Other than the above, which I've still yet to have much experience, everything else seems like a reskinned GT6. That's not a bad thing in itself, until you come to the logical conclusion that GTS is very much the same, except trading the updated graphics/processor of the new platform for the variety of cars and tracks we enjoyed in GT6. After spending a few minutes at the rig driving GTS, my initial reaction was a desire to turn it off and put on GT6 instead. I'll reserve the rest of my comments until after the full game releases, as perhaps they may be invalidated after Tuesday.
I like the premise. I just don't have confidence in its reality. Even as a secondary league event it would be really cool to get a grid full of gt3 or lmp cars that would all essentially be at a spec level. As I understand that is the point. Not to make a focus and a lambo equal in performance, but to make a lambo and a Ferrari the same. Or a focus and an accord. Race cars in the same classes. That sort of thing.

Great Lakes, get into iRacing... Not much else really gets it done for sim experience like them.

*after driving a McLaren P1 GTR in the rain against an Aston Martin Vulcan as the track dries and the sun sets* We can't go back! We can never go back!

One thing keeping me away from iRacing... And I love her too much to lose her. The cost of a PC and iRacing is sooo much greater, and I'm fortunate that she allows me what I have already. But, we have a young child right now. By the time he's on his own, the PC world will be so much more amazing - and then I'll have more money to play with. Someday.
Have we been around long enough to have an old-timers race? Get as many guys from the early days and have a race. We might even be able to get @zer05ive on track for something like that.
I wish. After three years I still feel like a newb. Some of you guys have shown extreme dedication... like the guy that I'm quoting!

You've really done a ton to keep this league going @JLBowler , I hope that hasn't gone unnoticed by anyone. Aside from the week to week duties, some of those weeks where vehicles weren't selected by prize winners must have been an absolute chore for you to keep up with - and it happened a lot for a while. You've definitely earned my respect. Well done.

IMS had done a really good job optimizing the game, so it runs well on most systems and these days you can build a fairly good system for a little more than a PS4.
But I understand the plight. My wife is due before the end of the month. Another reason I am waiting to get the ps4. Honestly though. PC gaming can be very frustrating when games start to get ruined by hacking and modders *cough* GTA *cough*. Which is why I am getting back onto a console.

PC is no different than consoles in that way. Just as SNAILers came here looking for close, competitive & clean racing that is difficult to find in lobbies, PC users look for leagues that provide the same solution. When you get away from the dirty drivers you'll by default also get away from the hackers.
That's not always the case, and I was speaking beyond just racing. CSGO, PUBG, GTA Online, all have issues with hacking. Same with games like BF, CoD. It's not uncommon to run into people using aim bots or wall hacking. These are games I play casually, so I'm usually just in pub lobbies. Games like pCars, War Thunder, Elite Dangerous, I don't think I have ever encountered hacking in. Those games as well as management games I'll still be playing on PC, but not casual or FPS style games.

Ah, yes. I imagine those style games are much more difficult to find honest online play. Are there "groups" of any sort for those type of games?

See, idk, cause I never got that serious with it. Racing BY is the only thing I have gone so far to find a group for. I would have gotten that serious with GTA online, but you have to be in a public room for a lot of the content now, and that game is straight aids for hackers and modders. Probably the worst game for it these days. We have a good group here on the forum that plays they game on PS4. But I am definitely not buying the game for a third time and making a new character this late in the game. When RDR2 hits, I'll probably be playing with the likes of them then.

I kinda feel hacking is almost a natural side effect of those type of games, but at the same time I have to wonder... If someone were to develop a "clean league" of FPS or whatever type of game, that the same type of mentality that exists here and other organized racing leagues could exist within those type of titles as well. I mean... certainly if the racing genre didn't have natural tendency to have leagues developed by serious users, the hacking and cheating could be just as prevalent right?

I can see SNAIL blowing up if they get the lobby settings and community settings right.

https://dotesports.com/general/gran-turismo-sport-demo-1-million-players-18030

"Anyone who made progress during the Gran Turismo Sport demo can keep their save file and bring over their data to the full game when it releases on Oct. 17. Players will receive any in-game credit earned during the promotion and can transfer their personalized vehicles waiting in garages as well. This is becoming a common thread with most demo periods these days, which certainly does benefit players in the long run."

Of course, there are plenty of such leagues/clans out there. I'm just saying that for those games I am far to casual to find leagues or clans. Consoles don't suffer from hackers/ modders, just prepubescent mic abuse. That's easily cured with a mute.

.speaking of microphones...did anyone notice if there was an in-game microphone option when creating a lobby? i know PS4 has a "party" feature where you can connect vocally, but i don't recall if there was that option in the beta...

I joined a "Party" during the Demo but the voice chat required Invitations to each individual by PS4 Notification. That could be cumbersome.

It certainly is cumbersome, and the parties are limited to only 8 people; less than a full division room. Is there "game chat" in GTS? In the first Project Cars the quality was far inferior to game chat, but you were able to have everybody o the same audio line. It was a big give & take.

There is a the usual Text Chat during the Lobby races. Touch the Options button and select the Start Chat. Shows up on the left as in GT6.
Might be better to not have the voice chatter during our races.
Maybe just the Host and Score Keeper.

The latest gossip around the water cooler is that some of you feller's like to race once in awhile... Am I in the right place?

Mr. Pit Board!
Good to see you back in the thread!

It is great to see the old SNAILs showing up and posting. I even saw someone refer to it as S.N.A.I.L. in the last couple of days.

Have we been around long enough to have an old-timers race? Get as many guys from the early days and have a race. We might even be able to get @zer05ive on track for something like that.

I'm in!
