Unfortunately GTS is plagued with too many network issues unless you have stellar internet, so I'm going to call it a day. With all the issues last night and not being able to get into any rooms, I pulled out a couple older games P Cars 1 and Assetto Corsa, and although they are quite different to navigate, I had zero network issues last night playing those titles.
I'm sure GTS will be sorted out or a new one will be released at some point, and for me it's a real bummer since I've been a Gran Turismo guy since inception, but hopefully I'll find the interest again once it's all fixed, until then I'm going to dish out the membership fee and turn my attention to I-racing. Racing with you guys is what I'll miss the most, but I'll still keep popping in here from time to time to see how things are going.

Say it aint so Dub. What exactly happened? You couldnt join the race lobby? Maybe we can help you troubleshoot the problem.

Personally I've (knock on wood) never had any issues with connectivity/weird lag/not seeing someone on Sundays. Occasionally I wont be able to join someones practice lobby, but resetting my cache and restarting my ps4 usually sorts it out.

I think everyone can agree when I say dont let one bad night get to you and make you leave us. The party's just getting started

TVVO_ will do some speed tests and review with Rednose and JLBowler to see if he is better suited to host than I.
I’m chomping at the bit to try iRacing, but life is enjoyable here at this point in time. I like ‘knowing’ the guys I’m racing. We build camaraderie. I have some fear that iRacing guys are cold and callous :grumpy:, :odd:, - completely unfounded, mind you . It’s how I justify putting it off.

The way GTS handles non-fixed host rooms with the mesh network, it really doesn't matter much who the host is (unless someone is getting an "incompatible with host" message). Somewhere along the line of connections between @DublDee and someone else in the room, there is apparently an issue. It would be very time consuming to try and isolate it and there would be no guarantee of success in a mesh network type of room as every driver is connected to every other driver.

Aside from each racer assuring his/her connection is top notch (nebulous goal), the only other alternative is to reduce the number of full time drivers in each division? Always these target conflicts. . .
Thanks JLB for making these tough decisions - truly appreciate what you do for SNAIL. Hope we see you back on the track soon. Let’s see what the coming week brings. April showers bring May flowers - maybe the combos will be just as pretty.

After updates there are always issues. The previous update i had connection issues to the point i was teling my cable company how i feel in the most colorful way possible.Maybe our games are asking too much from these consoles. Ive had connection issues with all our sim racer games. I thought gts would be the best at handling these type of issues.

Thats funny.

I guess calling it a day might not be the right phrase, I'm still going to try and make it as much as I can, but certainly won't be a regular. I'm not very knowledgeable when it comes to the internet, but I just don't understand why I never seem to encounter similar problems with other games on ps4.
Last night I did what I always do.....disconnect power to anything that could be connected(other consoles, phones, smart tv, etc) and reboot the modem and Playstation. Once racing started I was disconnected twice and rebooted my internet and ps4 both times. I tested my speeds and they were 9.5mbps Download and 1.0mbps Upload. I haven't really noticed an other issues, other than one time a few weeks ago, but it was a nasty night for all divisions as far as network issues.

@DublDee and @Freeryd503 were having problems, big lag issues as well as connectivity.
True, but I think others were also experiencing the same issue I was when trying to get into the room and seeing Freeride as the host and not being able to enter.....I'm not sure if that's related to the issues I was having or not, but that was weird. I can't remember who else saw that, but there were a couple guys.

@zer05ive
Hooked up my new transducer.
If I get an ‘optical to RCA’ adapter (to utilize the optical out on the PS4), what ramifications will that have on my DS4 audio that I use for sound & chat?
I have PS4 sending audio/video to 4k TV via HDMI. I’ve used the headphones out jack on tv but I can’t use DS4 headphones at same time and therefore lose chat capability.
Looks good! Please PM me a complete shipping address so that I can get your SNAIL decal sent out. Also, let me know if you want the black decal or the white decal. 👍

When i first tried to enter i had similar issues. Full power off disconnect router etc (x2)before i was good.

I had problems at the start of GTS as well. I actually have to switch from my aftermarket router to the standard Comcast router and voila no more problems whatsoever.

You just hit on your issue. 1 mbps upload is barely enough for online racing. It was tested and posted on GTPlanet long ago (I can't find it anymore or I'd link to it) that the game required just under 1mbps for a stable experience. If that was your test result, any drop from there would start to create issues.

The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 3 - GRAN TURISMO ECKERT'S ROD AND CUSTOM MACH FORTY (RH) at Tsukuba Circuit - 18:00 Clear (12 laps)
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @whatbadgerseat wins Prize A, he gets to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - FORD MUSTANG GT PREMIUM FASTBACK 2015 (SS) at Nürburgring GP - 20:30 Clear (5 laps)
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @Rednose58 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @racingchamp30 so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history and other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated, so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more important is that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, any car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Track Selection Guidelines

I have read the first post and would like to join.

@ChauncyMarsh

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1,@zer05ive ,@Rednose58 &, @MajorBlixem as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

I can say with no uncertainty that I rarely hit those upload speeds, and that is the max I can get in my rural area. Pretty amazed that the minimum is 1mbps when I haven't had a lot of issues prior to all this, with GTS or GT6 when I played. Back when I played GT6 I was doing it with half those speeds, as the speeds I have now weren't available then, but if that's what you're saying, I believe you.
In light of this I won't be racing anymore in league races simply because I really don't want to ruin someone else's night, who never has issues. I'm not that selfish, Lol.
I spoke to my provider about any future plans to upgrade speeds in our area, and there are no plans in the next 2-3 years!:banghead:

I'm not stating is as an absolute fact. I'm just going off an old thread here that had some testing done (measuring traffic while playing the game and recording a lot of data points) and they determined that connections under 1.0 upload could begin to have issues based on the traffic required for the game. They tested in non-fixed host rooms and fixed host rooms. The non-fixed host rooms required more upload than the fixed host rooms. In the non-fixed host rooms, the upload and download was no different for the host or anyone else in the room. In the fixed host room, there was a huge difference between what the host needs and what everyone else needs.

I wish I could find that thread as it had a lot of good information in it. I had it bookmarked on an old computer that has now died so I'm going off memory.

When I start a conversation and add the Admin names it gives me an error stating: The Following Recipients Could Not Be Found

Please advise. I've posted topics but never a "conversation". Thx.
