Officiating, on the field or in directing the settled procedures in a very successful league, takes a matter of fact approach.

“Bed side manner”, or giving someone a more gentle, softer tone when giving specific instructions is what Kindergarten teachers do with little children. It has no place in directing adults to follow specific steps in applying to join our league.

Looking for thoughts.
The next challenge will include cars that are just over the million dollar mark. Including the Red Bull car, one77, and one other that has yet to be determined. 3 races, first race will be the red bull (undetermined track). Second race, will be chosen by the last place finisher who FINISHES the race. They will have the choice of the one77 or the undetermined car at any track they choose that was not ran in the red bull race. Maybe this is an advantage? Maybe not but this will put everyone on the same playing field! There will be no passing points, and each race start will be based on previous race results.

The last race we ran (FIA Challenge) it took too much time to enter the passing points and such. This go around I will be able to use the standard score sheet ( if allowed by the stewards) that we currently use on Sunday nights. What are yalls thoughts?

There is still some work that needs to go into this race, but I hope to get it in before Christmas.

I also would like to have multiple prizes, if anyone would like to donate $ or amazon cards so I can put together a decent amount of cool prizes for the game please PM me. It would be pretty cool to have quite a few prizes that are some of the items that we talk about quite a bit on the forum.

Prize winners can be anyone in the Lobby on race night! The winner is not guaranteed the top prize. More to come on that later.

I will be honest I am personally looking forward to this and can't wait if you need any help with anything feel free to reach out to me. I will try my best to help out.

Not true in any facet of adult life. You dont have to come off as a dick in order to make a strong, fair point.

Character assessment and resultant Labels are a personal decision - you are free to be as caustic in labeling people as pleases you.
However, don’t expect a reciprocal respect for your inability to converse without such labeling, or name calling.

Who is name calling??

Your bedside manner could use a little work.

Tell me something I don't know.

It isnt the first time I and others have thought this. It's only the first time I or others have said anything.

That's a real laugh right there. You think you are the first to mention the method in which I deliver instructions could be softened up.

Quite often in a message board, direct instructions are just that, direct instructions. It is the bias of the reader that infers something that is not implied by the author.

I'll rephrase then. It's the first I've seen anyone say something. And ones tone can easily be reflected in their writing by changing key phrases or words, such as including "please" or "thank you," in order to not come off as hostile or even passive aggressive in their post.

You think I was calling you a dick? I wasn't. I was making a blanket statement about tone and wording on regards to the message someone wishes to relay.

Now that is funny. The guy critiquing the way others write has his own writings taken, apparently, out of context.

Pot, I'd like you to meet the kettle.

For the record. I inferred that he wasn't calling Tex a dick but he may have been trying to imply that I was acting like one with my use of direct instructions to someone who was on their third time being told what they need to do.

You clearly have some superiority complex. So talking to you is completely pointless. Keep it up. Enjoy life. I'm sure you're going far.

Not accounting (or caring) about how an individual may interpret a message is pretty short-sighted and negligent. If your ultimate goal is to promote the racing league as one of the best, the perceived image of the individuals who run it make a large impact. I believe the message that is trying to be communicated is that simple soft-skills can help eliminate many potential conflicts:

"Hi __________, thanks for your interest in the league. However, you did not follow the directions for joining. Please re-read the OLR."

Doesn't matter if you really mean it, but just putting in some effort makes a difference.

There is a much better way of handling this guys...

Oh boy...

I think the response was totally appropriate. That was the 3rd or 4th time trying to spell it out for them. I messed up my very first post as well, but I went back and did it the right way. It also guarantees that they actually read the post. If you want in that bad then go for it. But if you want to see for a week then I think it’s worth the stewards hassle to move on. Hate to say it but I feel it’s true.

His (@Neutty) response was appropriate. He can have a direct side of his life too.

He’s probably been around the block a few times, so he’s pretty far in my book. That, and this is probably not the right thing to say...

I was planning to join you guys after spotting one of the lobbies on GTS. The guy told me to come here and I find you bickering like a bunch of drama queen girls.

I'll check back in on this group later to see if you guys start acting like guys again.

Ignore that. This doesn’t happen (most of the time), but your choice.

Thanks for checking us out. There is plenty to read in this thread prior to today. Keep an eye out for practice rooms throughout the week.

Imo, one needs to understand how many countless hours have been put into the inception and maintenance of this league by JL Bowler and many others to understand why replies may have a short undertone, especially given that just about all questions can be answered by exploring the first post. These processes and organization have been put in place to avoid some of these redundant questions. To call someone out over a seemingly short/wry response seems a tad argumentative and unnecessary in itself.

You were the guy in our lobby last night. Glad you’re checking out the forum. As previously stated look for one of the practice lobbies to get a feel for the league.

I joined snail in only September. October is my first complete month. So a post from me maybe has less meaning for some. I would humbly offer that some amount of disagreement, including how we communicate, has often been a part of my own personal experiences with different in-person and online organizations.

Based on those experiences I know the heavy lifting behind the scenes involves a lot of sweat equity by volunteers. I've been thinking of posting a thank you over the last week or so. I've had my share of embarrassing incidents already. However, I am a better driver as evidenced at least by my daily race DR trend.

I'd known I wanted to join snail for some time but had to wait until this fall. The mainly flat trend line from 160-180 is when I began consciously focusing on the racecraft guide and snail penalties. It appears to be the only flat line on the graph highlighting my prior inconsistencies and probably recklessness. The sharp jump after 180 and the next level trend line is when I started Sunday night snail racing.

The data is pretty compelling. Snail made me a better driver. In just a little over 6 weeks.

So, Thank You, to the board and all the members who make race nights possible. And wtf is this now - racing for actual goodies! This is incredible. Including any and all drama that comes with it.

It still astounds me the amount of male bos taurus excrement JL has managed to wade through in the SEVEN years he's been managing this league. The number of equinal rectal orifices he's had to deal with must number over a thousand nowadays. Being direct and blunt cuts through the diplomatic fluff and pixie dust and leaves very little room for misunderstanding, accidental or intentional, and saves time on both sides.

You can be sure you're getting the kindler and gentler JLBowler. I know for a fact that if he, or I, would've publicly written what we really wanted to in some cases, GTPlanet admins would've banned us both years ago.

Now, I'm gonna go to my porch and yell at my neighbors to come rake my leaves while I wonder how many spotted the fluff and pixie dust I used in the first two sentences of this post.

Or maybe just

We interrupt this thread for some hot off the press breaking news. It has been learned that Death Wish Coffee will be extending their sponsorship contract with Nog Motor Sports (NMS) into the November 2018 Snail Division 4 racing season.
When asked about this decision, Death Wish Coffee founder and CEO Mike Brown stated:
“We are excited about the partnership we have forged with NMS and look forward to his continued success. We believe in nog3861; he can and will do better”.
Representatives from NMS could not be reached for immediate comment at this time.
We now return you to your regularly scheduled programming.

Congrats on the deal! I put money on the -200 Marlboro

Maybe it's just me but what it all comes down to is respect. If we respect eachother, work as a group, listen to eachother, respect eachothers opinion and as a cohesive group speak and be spoke to respectfully snail can be built bigger than anyone of us could imagine. With that being said it takes a group effort to get there from everyone, From the Sunday racers all the way up to the BOD. You dont have to agree to be respectful and if someone over looks something in the OLR there are ways to say it respectfully I cant speak for everyone but I can say from personal experiences iv over looked stuff and have re-read the OLR a few times. I have always approached everyone iv came across respectfully and hope that that's how I am treated in return (so far I have) bc when push comes to shove we are a group of racers and most of us are friends even if it's just a Sunday night race that brings us together. if we can respect people on the track there's no reason we cant off the track or atleast hash out whatever the problem is as adults, speak and be spoke to in the same manner. Anyways that's my 2 cents sorry for the rant but felt it needed to be said. Thanks for listening and as @Nick Cannella put it back to our regularly scheduled programming!
