I have read the first post and would like to join.

@HxAxDxExZ

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1,@zer05ive ,@Rednose58,@MajorBlixem & @SAMHAIN85 as participants.

The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Opinion on tire wear
Hey SNAILs, as I continue to gain experience in GTSport, I've noticed a couple factors that have made me faster: slow driver inputs (steering, brakes, throttle); maximizing speed while minimizing slip angle.

FIA races that have high tire wear have been instrumental in helping me to hone both driver inputs and maximizing speed at low slip angles. Often in these races, the really fast guys (not me) are laying down consistent lap times, and driving flawlessly: staying on the racing line, hitting brake points and apexes, accelerating without power on oversteer, and minimizing sliding through turns.

I think that having tire wear on forces drivers to be more cognizant of slip angle - driving as fast as you can without actually slipping. It is my opinion that turning on tire wear during snail races will help to train drivers to drive faster without scrubbing off speed, and doing this consistently throughout a race. Given that SNAIL is a training ground for E-sport competitions (gt accademy, FIA), SNAIL drivers will benefit from learning how to conserve tires, get the most out of them both in speed and tire life.

What do you guys think?

I know one concern will be: how do you come up with a formula to set tire life? I dont know the answer, but definitely willing to help figure out a system/process that will help us all acquire tire conservation instinct.

I like the idea, but for sprints on Sunday. If it's just enough wear for you to change up your technique at the end of the race I would go for it. Anything past that would be too excessive IMO. I usually equate the sprints to a track day session, and realistically, your pace would only drop off due to overheating, not wear.

The endurance series seems to do a good job with wear for the times I've joined on Tuesday though.

The October 2018 Season has been archived. @SAMHAIN85 - you may want to update the final standings post as all penalty points have been accounted for. Thanks to all who had put in the effort to get the volunteer work done for October.

The SNAIL Sunday Scoring sheets for November 4 have been prepared and is ready to go for tonight. Good luck to all for the new season. Enjoy and race hard and clean.

Seent a bit of this here and there. Looks pretty good, hope to play it at some point and see if it lives up to my expectations.

I think it will. It's already far better than it was upon initial release, physics wise that is. Still limited content, but the communication with the devs has been outstanding and they're doing a really good job of listening to people input. Suffice to say there are many real world karters playing and giving input about how they should drive.
