Is there anyone who can make a gtplanet.net/snail logo for liveries? I've had the snailracing.org logo plastered on my vehicles and I figured it was probably time to use a functional URL. I did a search and didn't find anything besides the usual suspects.

I can give it a shot, what do you have in mind?

Hello girls,
We need some January data done before the weekend, please.....
D1: Jan 5, Jan 12, Jan 19, Jan 26
D2: All done - Thanks
D3: Jan 12, Jan 19, Jan 26 (partial)

Archiving will be done on Sunday morning.
The SNAIL Invitational Race can't happen without data

Data for D3 1/26 has been completed

Data for D3 1/12 has been completed

Will not be able to complete all D1 data, as it takes over an hour for me to tally all lap times in a single night. I see a stream of the nights on the 5th and 12th, so I can probably get to that in a bit.

Major Announcement

After months of discussion by the BoD, SNAIL will be making some changes to the Sunday night format. These changes center around attempting to create more time spent racing and less time spent in between races.

Qualifying is eliminated. The grid for each race will be set as follows:
  • R1R1 will use a newly created "grid list." This list will be posted each week in the post after the drivers list. This will require the host to set a manual grid for this race.
  • R1R2 will use reverse grid based on previous results.
  • R2R1 will use grid based on previous results.
  • R2R2 will use reverse grid based on previous results.
  • R3R1 will use grid based on previous results.
  • R3R2 will use reverse grid based on previous results.

The point for the pole positions and the bouns point for all three poles will be replaced with a point for the fastest lap of each combo (both races combined) and a bonus point if one driver has all three of those.

These changes will allow us to increase our race time from the current 13 minute cap to a 17 minute cap per race.

All the pertinent posts in the SNAIL OLR P&G thread will be changed in the next couple of days to reflect these changes. If anyone has any questions, please post them in this thread and someone with the BoD will provide an answer for you. Sunday night hosts will need to make the changes to any rooms that they have saved. Lap counts should be displaying on the score sheet correctly and I'm sure @Rednose58 will be updating the combo thread if he hasn't already to reflect the correct laps.

Finally, SNAIL would like to extend a huge thank you to @msgt-sd for working his magic on the scoring sheets and data collection sheets to make this possible. He managed to do in a day what would probably have taken the rest of use weeks to figure out.

I love the change! Given the fact that half of our races were done by reverse grid, never seemed too important to qualify anyways. Also fixes the headache of having 2 or 3 different groups to qualify. AND it gives us more time for what we're actually here for, racing and having fun! Thank you BoD

For the new procedures:
1. Lobby settings have been updated
2. Combo Info has been updated
3. Snail Sunday Scoring Sheets have been prepared and is ready to go for tonight
4. Scorekeepers:
  • One minor glitch: The Fast lap time for the Combo is supposed to be inserted automatically where the Pole Lap time was in the previous sheets. If we don't get it fixed before tonight, just leave that blank.
  • It is now very important to enter the fast lap for each race. The fastest driver for each Combo will get the bonus point instead of the pole position. Grid positions are not important and can be picked up by the Data Specialist from the replays

And.... Data for Jan 2020 Season has been archived. Thanks to @Akzl298 for doing all the outstanding data for all divisions.

This is good. There is potential for closer points battles at the end of the night!! Taking qualifying out of the equation and the first race being “random” I’d bet there will be more different winners each night. Atleast for race one.

@JLBowler , @Rednose58
So can we run hot laps before R1R1?
A: would help with being able to see each other if everyone participates... potential lag issues would show up.
B: Gets kinda boring just sitting in lobby for 10-15 minutes .. unless you're one of the last minute arrivals if course.
Thought I'd ask ...
BTW I think we're going to like new format , thanks guys !

Please explain how this is set week over week? Is it a random draw or based upon the previous weeks/season standings and results?

One step at a time. Removing qualifying is already a significant change to SNAIL's format that's been in use for years.

While I do see a benefit to a very brief "warmup" in between combos to get acclimated to it, the whole point of removing qualifying is to cut down on the time it takes to start.

A brief warmup could turn into a full on hot lap session, where I can see people wanting "1 more lap" and the host starting the race at his own discretion, which will put the lobby behind schedule. Remember - races are now roughly 17 minutes in length thanks to cutting down on the time between combos. It's all for nothing if theres an extended warm up.

I could potentially see people using the "warmup" as a break (getting up and going afk). Now the lobby is even further behind waiting for them to return.

Drivers are still urged to hop onto track and verify the number of drivers they see and point out any lag, without hotlapping.

Edit: I don't see any issues with hotlaps before C1R1 when the lobby opens at 9PM EST. The above was directed at the time between C1/C2 and C2/C3. But like Bowler said, let's just see how the new format goes first before we open it up to hotlaps.

This is momentous news! I'll post a new image for number of laps based on mid-div lap times. Never thought I'd be on my third revision!
OH, it took me all of about 10 minutes before it dawned on me that NORDSCHLEIFE is now possible! 17 minutes is good for 2 laps in most cars (have to test N100 and maybe N200).

I was thinking the same thing! Circuit de le Sarthe, St. Croix, and even Spa can be more properly utilized now as well. With some fast cars these can all be 5+ laps!

The grid list for the first race of the night is not random. It's the drivers list sorted by current season points then previous season points then full time or part time. It's not much different than the drivers list. For the first week of each season, as there are no current points, it's sorted by previous season points then the previous season points then full time or part time.

The grid list has been added just below the drivers list. I will also be posting it in the main thread for the first couple of weeks until we get used to using it.

For now, the only change is what was announced. Allowing hotlapping before the first race of the night and allowing any tracks that are currently not allowed will be revisited once we get this change implemented and working well.

To make it easy for tonight, here is the Grid List for the first race of Round 1

After that, Race 2 is reverse grid

Then for the first race of the next combo the grid is based on the finish positions of Race 2 of the previous Combo. Every Race 2 is Reverse Grid. (Look again at the announcement above)

Hosts need to pay close attention, please. Everybody else need to check the lobby settings before the races start and help the host as required. We think it will be a bit more challenging for the fastest drivers to pull off an overall win for the night, so, it is important to make sure the Lobby Settings are correct.

There is a link in my signature below.

Probably should have put that in your original post then to avoid any confusion or questions from the driver pool. Thanks for clarifying

This is the grid list for tonight. Its permanent home is right below the drivers list as was announced originally.
