Actually it is hindsight.

Everyone in that room is capable of winning any given race. It all comes down to mistakes made and avoiding other's mistakes. Even qualifying first is how to manage your 3 flying laps. Pole position doesn't make you the fastest racer. It means you put together the most error free lap in 10 minutes.

Because you have a 1 sec lead means nothing. Another racer could put in a flyer of a lap and the lead is gone.

Anyways...looks like you have no shortage of cockiness and confidence. Humility goes a long towards earning respect amongst your peers...good luck and see you next week :)

Not cocky or overly confident. Just an average guy who really enjoys fast clean racing. I really like this place and I'm really enjoying this series. You seem to have a preconceived annoyance with me and frankly I don't mind nor do I care very much. I have real friends...gaining another virtual one won't make or break me.

I kind of have to agree with Joe.

In the third race last Tuesday, I was leading for a few laps. I expected eventually for a couple of the cars behind me to get a good run on me and pass me. Instead, I spun out, hit the wall, and ended my race completely. But before I did, I was winning, and I had a good shot at holding onto a good finish.

"So what?" you say.

My fastest lap during the race, was the slowest fastest lap of the race. I was in front. I didn't need to be faster, just defend the inside line and force people to try to pass me on the outside, and not make a mistake. I made a mistake, but not after demonstrating that you don't have to be the fastest.

And mind you, not out to make enemies. Just a casual disagreement.

Since last Tuesday, I've been trying to find a way to get the personal race background option to work. I finally got it to work in practice mode, but not online.
 
I agree. I'm not out to make enemies either. Our stories aren't the same or even related in my opinion but I see what you are saying. It's all good. Nothing to get bent out of shape about. I'm certainly not disappointed. I still managed a solid 3rd and redeemed myself by coming from the back to win the second race. It's all in good fun and close, clean competition. That's why we all come back week after week.

The guys here have done an excellent job at orchestrating a wonderful series and I tip my cap to them as well as my fellow racers.
 
For the guys always protect the inside line when they a slow you just make the race bored and you do traffic and accident.I think that type of racers need to be in others lowers division. There a big difference between 2 racers fast and clean and 2 racers slow n clean in a battle , let try to put 1 racers fast n clean and 1 racers slow n clean, you will see a accident soon

With that philosophy you would need to break up the F1 field into 5 divisions too.

Part of the challenge is to be able to pass slower traffic cleanly.
 
Catching another driver is one thing, passing them is a whole 'nother kettle of fish. The ability to pass and pass cleanly is what seperates the men from the boys or the time trialers from the racers.
 
I have no particular issue with you Qwiet. But your post was hindsight smack talk and that is cool. But if you want an example of attitude....ask everyone in the room what they thought of your verbal response to Tcrash last night when he spoke to you about how you were driving aggressively on him. Your immediate response was very pert and stern about how he should check the replay and shut up.

I mean come on. It's your first day in the group and you make a big splash. I'm not mad, just making a comment about smack talk and you appear to pretty perturbed about it.

I drove like monkey butt last night and so I do not smack talk :) Cya next week...should be fun.

I do wolf n i dont talk about last sunday or last month .. I talk in general some racers stay behind the ORL rules n make racers angry .Everyone can do a good move of gentlemen when the guys still on ur bumper since 2 laps whitout bumping n give space before the turn. After give ur place u draft him you gain speed n you can see how the racers behind was on ur bumper

When someone behind me is driving over aggressively then I tend to change my line to be defensive. This is a slower line but it prevents aggressive drivers from divebombing and trying to take your position away by sticking their front bumper into my rear quarter panel....which is not actually considered a pass. But yes it seems like they slower because now they are trying to keep you from passing them. The fastest line is much different from the line you take to pass someone.

I wish SNAIL were like NASCAR, if you have a problem with someone, let them know but don't endanger their lives. You have to admit that would be fun, almost as fun as my idea of using each weeks combos in a Dirty Boost all Aids challenge idea from a while ago or my partner racing.

I got a slight run on him in a short chute and positioned myself inside and he turned towards me. I backed off and didn't push the issue but he made a big deal about something that really was just good close racing. I wasn't being aggressive at all. Aggressive driving would have been me forcing the issue and probably taking him out or causing both of us to lose major time to the leaders.

Please do not put words into my mouth. Not ONE TIME did I tell anyone to shut up. I would never do that. I said "take a deep breath." Meaning calm down...no harm no foul.

First day or 3rd week makes no difference. Racing is racing right? Are you saying I should have pulled over whenever a veteran D2 driver approached from behind or I should simply hold my position when I run down a veteran D2 racer? Please elaborate.

I'm not trying to "make a big splash." I'm trying to do the exact same thing you are...my very best in every race and the ultimate goal is to be as fast, clean, consistent and error free in hopes of winning right?

Not perturbed at all. No need to be. Life is bigger than a video game and if I'm going to be perturbed about something or someone saying something it won't be about a video game or a comment from you.

This happened to me last night at Suzuka. I had cmbeal riding me for 2 laps waiting for the pass. I was slower and he could have walked away if I let him by but I held my line and we fought it out all the way to the finish. What fun is it for me if I can't make someone sweat and say bad words.:sly:

BTW if you want to see that finish, it is the picture with the cmbeal's red 'vette in the foreground and orange one in the background.
 
Any inkling of what the new choices might be for next week should the results stay the same?

I respect all opinion but clean racing got a side fair n unfair just depend if the racers race whit a conscience

And I respect your opinion. It's not that I don't have a conscience, I just don't enjoy giving up a position just to give it up. If I was in the position of the guy behind me, I don't think I would throw a fit or anything. I wouldn't be worried about placing 2nd or 3rd if 1st has half the straightaway on both of us anyway. It's just all about what you want out of the racing; get all determined so you pick next weeks car (big deal...), or relax and have a good time racing. I choose a good time.

I race in a room since 2 years soon n we got others defenition of clean racing thats why some of this room have stop racing snail league (if the guys are very clean whit you no bump n hes behind you since 2-3 laps, me i will let pass if they have no traffic in front of me )

I totally agree. In NO form of racing that I know about do they require slower traffic to make way for faster traffic within a division or class. It is different if a racer placed higher is coming up on back markers but that is not the case here.

DrGreen, as the racer behind it is your responsibility to be able to find a way to cleanly pass the driver ahead not for that driver to to let you pass him.

If everyone is going to let faster drivers behind them pass, there's no point in having races (especially the reverse-grid races). We could just qualify and be done with it. If you ask me, the process of trying to pass while another driver tries just as hard to keep you from passing (cleanly, of course) is almost the entire point of racing.

My favorite part of last night, as a matter of fact, was being passed by qwiet on the last lap of the 1st race at Suzuka. He was at least a second per lap faster than me, but I held him off with everything I had -- from 130R all the way to turn 3, forcing him to pass me on the left on the straight, and then stay wheel-to-wheel with me on the outside through turns 1 and 2. In the end, he earned the spot by taking it, which I imagine was more satisfying for him than it would have been if I had just given it to him because he was faster.
 
I like reach the best time its my first priority after its sure pass the racers but i still want to have a good time i dont care if im 1 2 3 4 i just want to prove i have work to get that place and not showing im fast if im not

Hmm. I think I might just be misunderstanding you, because it seems like you're saying contradictory things. Kinda makes me wish I knew some French (or any language other than English, for that matter).

Everyone was racing with a lot of people we didn't know as well last night thanks to promotion and relegation. I have a feeling things will be a bit smoother in the next couple of weeks as everyone gets used to each other's driving style, strengths/weaknesses, etc.

I agree whit you but u know you are dangerous when you keep the way tight and you can make accidents. Every sunday i see guys do that things n scrap the races of others racers i dont like that but im sure u was good drkronin but some racers maybe got not the same skills as you and do the same thing WRONG

Without trying to drag this out to far we have a complaint system to deal with drivers displaying bad race craft. If you see bad race craft please file a complaint per the guidelines and please do not discuss it in the forum.
 
greenthumb: If you prefer to set fast times rather than race other cars, you're in the wrong league.
