You know how F1 drivers say Monaco is a great layout and it would be fun anywhere? Same with SSR5, take the track and put it on a real track with run-offs and it'd be brilliant.
I wouldn't be so sure about Monaco... part of the experience is flying between buildings and dropping down into the bay area and climbing back up the hill to the casino area. I think if you took away all that it would be just another race track with a hairpin

Blast from the past reporting in. Let's see how many dusty old snails we have left in here! A friend turned me onto the subject of my snail days and I'll be a dirty liar if I didn't say I miss the ever loving everything out of it! KCheeb still around? Dragonslayer? MNCPXXXXX (whatever those numbers were)? Whatbadgearset?

I feel terrible if I forgot any of my old racing buddies, you guys were seriously a huge part of my life back in the day and I've never forgotten the times we had. Hence why I'm back! I'll make a long story short and say around the time I disappeared I had a bad bout with health (mono, turned blood infection, then a touch of cancer) and afterwards I just couldn't pick up where I had left off, it just slipped out of me I guess, but I want to come back. I don't have a ps4, but by god I'll get one just for this!

Now that I'm here I'm almost nervous to the response I get lol It's been years! Seriously, do we have a groupme for stewarding and/or updates/chats about racing? It would work flawlessly!

I'm getting ahead of myself lol Hello to all you whippersnappers that do not recognize me. My gtp name is DJones, my psn is Da_Panda_Bear and I'm the fastest ding dang panda you'll ever see!

Edit!!!!! Bowler! Tex! Holy hot crap on a cracker y'all are still here! (Zero I know you'd be here, nobody could abandon their baby!) Jesus guys how have you been!

Double edit. I imagine we're on ps4 now, but forgive me brothers for I have forgotten what gran turismo we are now on. I need to know if I'm selling one or both kidneys!

Well we hope you have not sold your kidney yet because it's still GT6 on PS3 :P It's still extra cash I guess.

Hello, my name is Daniel, I am very interested in joining SNAIL. I am 16, have fair experience with gt6 (started at gt3). Thanks in advance, have a great day! :)

@PeirceTheVeil

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Of course all of the elevation changes would still be there just take away the closed in nature.

Hi all! I am a very experienced and older(45+), CLEAN, racer who is looking for a series or league to compete in, as well as meet like minded drivers to get the most out of my GT6 experience. I do enjoy all aspects of racing, but I think for myself the most enjoyable type of racing would be a series of point races that incorporate all types of tracks, from say the Spa to Daytona Super Speedway. For the challenge aspect, I like racing with the majority of assists off or prohibited, but not necessarily a deal breaker by any means. I've enjoyed the Gran Turismo series of games since its inception, and have done some real amateur racing here in the real world, but nothing serious. Anyway, with all the info I've given here, would you say this series or club would be a good fit for me, or is there another series or club you would suggest. Thanks in advance!

NMCP1 will be around shortly with your welcome post. All I can say at 45+ years you are hardly making the avarage age of the league!

You've come to the right place. @nmcp1 will get you started and then you'll be sad you didn't find SNAIL sooner.

Check out the Snail GT1 series too while you're at it. Its a points based series based on performance balanced groups of cars and tuning is allowed. If you aren't well versed in tuning like me everyone is very helpful in getting you up to pace. Next race is Wednesday night at Fuji using ~600pp cars. In fact i encourage anyone who has been on the fence to come give it a go. Ever since i joined i have dedicated way more time to wednesday than sunday. You get more out of testing and tuning than just hot lapping stock cars.

what Panda? Dragonslayer? LMAO!
See ya on track buddy! Better get some practice Pronto!

you forgot Schmmigz and Chatva.. but he is dead now!

Of course all of the elevation changes would still be there just take away the closed in nature.
I don't think that would even be possible, if you get the right hander wrong going into the casino hairpin and there was nothing there to stop you, not even a trophy truck could handle a drop like that

I will check this out for sure. Thanks for the info

Thanks Everyone, I really appreciate the welcomes and feedback. I honestly really enjoy online racing, and it is next to impossible to find a room full of clean racers, in the general lobby rooms, so Yes I'm already very thankful that I found this place.
I have some info to go over tonight when I get home, and will commit to reading, and understanding all the information provided, and let you know if I have any questions.
Thanks again, I look forward to meeting you all on the track soon!

Wait like actually dead or just from a snail's perspective?
God I'm itching to play right now! But I know there has to be a million updates that I don't have and I don't get off work till 11 Funny how hard an old bug can bite!

The closed in nature IS the nature of that particular beast. Take away the walls and it becomes just another racetrack. Take away the walls and the FIA will demand runoffs. Take away the walls and the seats get further away. Take away the walls and we'll ignore it the way we do the modern Nurburgring. Yes, that's debatable, but you get the idea..

If you take Monte Carlo away, you are left with an idiosyncratic track that most drivers will hate with a passion, because it's impossibly narrow, with no real overtaking spots, an overall crap experience.
Monte Carlo being around it is the only reason it exists.

Hey man, it's not my words. I've heard it from the F1 drivers every time they're at Monaco. They talk about how the track feels and the momentum/rhythm of it all and that alone would be great anywhere. I think they meant something like that. Just talking about the rhythmic nature of the track, not what borders the track. That's inconsequential to this fantasy lol

They can't get there and say "this is a **** track, which shouldn't be in use in the 60's, let alone now".
But check out the retired drivers opinion and its closer to the true opinion they have. Sir Jackie was against it in the late 60's, because the cars were too fast for it.
Imagine now...

The argument for modern F1 is that the safety features are that much more advanced then anything before. Now Alonso can do multiple flips into a gravel trap and walk away within seconds. Pre-Senna regulation changes that would probably have severely injured him or at least started a fire.

As true as that may be, it's far from the real reason there is still a race in Monaco.
