First off, I apologize if I've posted this in the wrong thread. I've just recently gotten back into the game, and have had to start all over with a new PS3 and go through the headache of doing 21 updates, one at a time! Anyway, I'm looking to race with a group or a few groups of drivers that like to race hard, but 100% clean, or as close as possible, and after reading many posts in this clubs threads, it appears I may have found the right place? Are you accepting new drivers?
Thanks and again, Sorry if this is in the wrong section of the forum

@VetteVillain

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join SNAIL Racing League:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

Also buy some cars so you can join practice tonight. Lobby opens around 9pm EST, racing starts at 9:30.

1. BMW 320i Touring Car '03 on SM tires @ Red Bull Ring (6 Laps)
2. Lotus Esprit V8 '02 on SM tires @ Tokyo R246 / Forward (6 Laps)
3. Aston Martin Vanquish '04 on SS tires @ Apricot Hill Raceway / Forward (7 Laps)

this was posted on the home page and I do not remember seeing it any where again so if you do not check the first page regularly and you missed it check this out. i think it's sweeeeeeet and I see a few mango buddies of mine hahaha:lol::lol::gtpflag:

CONGRATS TO ALL THE PRIZE WINNERS

GOOD LUCK SUNDAY EVERYONE
RACE HARD / RACE CLEAN / RACE SNAIL

I just realized that a year ago this week I took over doing the banners for SNAIL. Man time sure flies!!!
I'm just glad that I can help in my own little way along with all the other fantastic volunteers that help keep the SNAIL engine purring... A big thumbs up to you all 👍

I have to admit though at times it can be hard getting motivated to get these banners put up every week as its a bit of a grind putting them together. Im sure some of you can relate.
With that being said I would be remiss if not to ask would anyone else like to flex their creative muscle and take a crack at doing banners.
I'm not saying I want to quit but I would be more than happy to step aside for some fresh blood and give someone else a chance.
If not I will soldier on and try to keep it interesting and change things up every once in awhile so you all don't get tired of me lol ...Cheers from Paddy!!!

This is probably a lot of work, but it would be cool if they looked like something you see in-game like the background image used for seasonals or what-not.

Only in this thread... RoC is busy, same with GT1 plus PM's all over the place

And PITS. PITS has action all the time, every time.

Certain things about both those series I like, and there are certain things I don't like. Some combination of the two but on GT6 would be great. PCars is a great driving experience but the online isn't as easy to stay organized in the ways SNAIL prefers. A longer race is nice but then only one for the night, or two medium length races. Either way tire wear shouldn't be a major concern but a single pit stop would be required regardless just to shake things up. No tuning of course. Another thing PCars can't do right yet. Gotta stay with GT6 for now. Anyone interested in working on a series or just some fun pop-up racing? I believe Tuesday, Friday, and Saturday nights are the only ones left without SNAIL series'.

You should come back. This last season was really good and it's only getting better.
The driving is so much better, it's not even funny.
Yes, the tuning is a problem, at least for me, but that doesn't detract from the overall experience, especially because SGETI and Lessen always share whatever they have and that's a big boost for useless tuners (like me).

Don't you guys work on tuning together?

In GT1 everyone is willing to help everyone else get there cars to a good pace. I think the best thing implemented in GT1 was the constructors cup so that the tuners can help the non tuners learn how to do it and gives them an incentive to help them.

There's a nice website for PCars tunes that has a lot for every car so people post links to those or their own tweaks, etc.

@FlipJ If it was one race for the night I'd be obliged but two is pushing my concentration levels. You don't have to like that, but that's my reason.

Problem is this in me with tuning:

I can understand if something I did makes the car worse, obviously, but it's all trial and error, because I never took the time to learn it, so it takes too long and then I run out of time.
So I basically get a tune I feel in decent, use that and if I'm leaving time on the table, so be it.
And PITS also has a very decent help with tunes, the guys that are not lost dogs are always very open with their stuff.
Hell, Aero helped Lobban with tyre pressures last Wednesday during the race break, so it's not even just during practice.

I don't either like it or dislike it, it's just that the racing has been really good.
And you don't have to race both times, there's one driver that races the first one and takes off. It really doesn't matter, it's just a matter of finishing the first one and that's that.

That's not right. I know I only want to do one but you have two so I don't join at all. I feel that's the right thing to do. Maybe message me when you're doing some practice races and I'll check in with you guys.

Tuning is all trial and error it takes time and I'm sure with PITS and PCars the tuning is a lot more indepth than GT6.

And that's the problem... There are more things to change and I have less time to do it, so you can guess how that goes...
And then you need to get the tires warm, then you need to see how it handles on worn tires, and down the rabbit hole you go. ;)=👍

In my honest opinion, the complexity of tuning is far overated. Just by sticking to the basics one can get most cars to handle more to their liking. I'm talking just the simple stuff like springs, sways & basic alignment settings. Throw in some air pressure adjustments and that's geneally all you need to find a decent baseline setup that works better than stock. I used to get down about "Oh, it takes so much time", when in reality tuning doesn't take time, it's the learning that takes time. Now that's not really any different than racing right? We all were slower at some point and it took time to learn how to be faster. Once you learn how to be faster you are generally faster right out of the gate. Once you learn how to tune efficently you also tune faster right out of the gate.

I agree that getting the basics right is easy and doesn't take a lot of time, like getting rid of under/oversteer, etc. But to get that tune juuuust right when you can't extract anything else out of the car, like a Praiano tune, for instance, that takes way too long for me (probably forever), so I don't even try.
I think it's dark sorcery, like some people that are super fast with a controller....

It's the fine tuning part that I think can be time better spent. Unless one is already a top driver, they're more likely to find more time fine tuning their driving and consistency and offensive/defensive techniques, rather than grinding away laps and laps trying to find that "perfect" damping setting or that "perfect" traction control setting etc.

:) There's no sorcery involved. The fine motor skills are a learned trade, but controller guys also do not have the "distraction" of feedback even though there are obviously benefits as well. After recently driving a TAG kart I've come to the conclusion that gaming with a controller is absurdly easy in the whole grand scheme of things. I expect to struggle when/if I ever get a rig together.

I am a semi fast ish controller driver and really i should be faster than i am when you consider ive been playing gran turismo on a controller for almost 20 years. Ive always wondered if a wheel would get me to the next level. Dont have the money or space to devote to that right now though.

I'm not a top tier driver by any means, but I can tell you that after playing every game in the GT series since conception, with a controller, and now switching to the G27 wheel has made a huge difference for me, but again i'm nowhere near a top level racer in GT6

Oh, yes, I am aware we're talking about .2, .3 at the most here.
The work, as usual, remains with driving your best lines, braking and throttle application, etc.
But that last little bit is the part I can never ever get right without some serious time commitment...

And don't lie. If this was the Middle Ages, there would be a bunch of controller burnings at the... Wait, but then we wouldn't have electricity. Hum, need to think that whole thing through....

Y'all should give the GT-1 Series on Wed nights a look-see.
Good racing were even Div 4 drivers compete evenly with Upper Division folks.
