  8. DCschWinn --------- voted to eliminate Round 1
  9. BustedFoSho ------- voted to eliminate Round 1
The round that received the most elimination votes was:
Round 1 - Marcos Mini Marcos GT '70 (Comfort Soft tires) at Silverstone Stowe Circuit -
Therefore the entire combo has been dropped from next week's line-up. Since @IceManFan_7 wins Prize A, they get to choose an entirely new car and track combo to replace it.
PLEASE NOTE: Since @IceManFan_7 has already won Prize A this season, he is ineligible to win it again until next season. This means that unless he loses Prize A due to incident reviews, any driver who competed in Division 4 on Sunday night will have the opportunity to suggest an entirely new car and track combo. I recommend that all D4 drivers from Sunday night start thinking about combos they would like to suggest. That way, you will be ready to post it if/when @Dragonwhisky give the "all clear". Also, please be sure to only suggest one combo. Any driver who suggests more than one combo will automatically be ineligible to suggest any combos at all. Please don't let that happen to you. Only suggest ONE combo (but not until @IceManFan_7 is confirmed as the Prize A winner).

The round that received the second most elimination votes was:
Round 2 - RUF RGT '00 (Sport Medium tires) at Tokyo Route 246 -
This means either the car or the track will be replaced for next week's line-up. Since @gtr3123 gets Prize B, he has the option to freeze the car or the track, or he can give that option to the Prize C winner. If he gives the freeze away, then he gets to decide what car or track replaces the part of the combo that is left unfrozen by the Prize C winner.

Prize C goes to @Tangled_Up so he gets whichever option the Prize B winner does not select.

Preliminary prize winners, please don't announce your prize selection until all incident reports have been filed and it has been confirmed that you don't have any penalties. It's also recommended that you review the SNAIL combo history or other data on our car and track history so that you can get an idea how many times we've raced each car and track. Please remember that originality is always appreciated,so picking cars and tracks that we've never raced is a plus (but not required). What's more importantis that you thoroughly test any combo that you are considering before making it your official selection. For example, no car you select should not hit its rev limiter at any point during a race (even in the draft).

IMPORTANT: When posting your Prize A or Prize B selection, please list the complete in-game name of the car and/or track you are selecting. For example, if you want to select the Amuse Superlegara for your car, post "Amuse Nismo 380 RS Superlagara". If you want to select Monza for a track, post "Autodromo Nazionale Monza". This makes it much easier for the lineup to be updated accurately and also prevents confusing other league members as to which car or track you are selecting. Also, please be sure to list the PP and HP (after oil change) of any car you select.

Car Selection Guidelines
Dealership Cars - The maximum price for a selected car is now $1,000,000
DLC Cars - Only DLC cars that are FREE and currently still available in the PlayStation Store can be selected.

Track Selection Guidelines
Any non-DLC track can be selected as long as a single lap with the car combo'd with it would not take more than five minutes to complete. For example, don't select anything that includes the Nurburgring's Nordschleife.

Race Date: 18 January 2015
Currently tracking 13 Incident Reports

We do not have a current prize winner with an IR filed against them. However, a division winner who is ineligible for prizes at this time has an IR pending and this could change the order of prize winners. All preliminary prize winners are asked to refrain from making their choices until prize winners are finalized. We should be able to have this done by tomorrow night.

The target deadline for the Steward Reviews, this week, is Wednesday night by 10PM Eastern. The Steward Summary will be posted as soon as possible, following completion of reviews.

:@: SNAIL Stewards, please make your way to The Incident Review Scoring.

The IR Submission Form is now closed.

Is voting almost done to find out which combo is dropped? I'd also like to hope we can set up some kind of deadline for combo choosing. Like Thursday at least 6 hours before practice night starts.

We try every week to have the prize winners have everything wrapped up by Wednesday afternoon at the latest. Due to work schedules and life, sometimes it runs into Thursday. We've had a few occasions where the pick goes to the division due to a driver not responding for various reasons. If you would like to be a prize committee member, just let me know. You just have to donate some time to help the prize winners through the process.

I have, in order of preference, 4 or 5 prize A combo choices not only tested but raced already so, the day l finally get awarded with such a honor, as soon as I get the clearence I just shoot one of them in the same minute, therefore, I find very awkward that almost every prize A winner only starts to think about it when he's nominated.
It would be so much faster if everybody, just in case, would have something already planned.

@Schmiggz is right.
It reminds me of when Miss Marple is told by attorneys that she just inherited a large sum of money. She looks thoughtful for a moment, and then blurts out.
"A partridge."
The lawyers look confused.
Then she says something like, "They're hard to get, and I think I should like a partridge all to myself."

Seems to me if people don't already have something in mind, there will be a wait for the decision to be made... and if you rush it, we'll be racing partridges next Sunday.

Anyhow, is there a comprehensive history list of all the combos somewhere in a nice easy-to-read spreadsheet? ^^

I'm going to advise you to take the blue pill. If you really want the red pill, here you go. By week. By car alphabetically. If you don't click the links they'll stay blue. If you click them they will change color to a hue of red and down the rabbit hole you'll go.

Thanks, I just had that one question I was seeking. :P
The spreadsheet "has headers" (but it doesn't :odd:) & you can't sort by car. :boggled:

Append:
I've copy/pasted it into another spreadsheet... I'm going to see if I can cross-reference it w/ a full car list, and come up with a "haven't used yet" list of some type.

So, what does it mean that "any d4 driver can make a selection". (I know that it can't be me.) Is it the first D4 driver to post on this thread after some point in time? What is that point in time? Is there a post that explains this in greater depth?

Any clarification appreciated. Sorry for the ignorance.

Thanks,

IceMan

Correct me if I'm wrong, but once the all clear is given, each racer (apart from you) in D4 that raced on Sunday night is allowed to suggest one combo. I believe once all suggestions have been collected (@JLBowler usually sets a deadline once suggestions start coming in), you choose one of the combos that will be the new combo.

This is correct @IceManFan_7.

Close! Corrected the minor change above.
Minor change.

The all clear will have been given before all of the above happens. It hasn't yet this week. Another Steward Update should be coming out tonight to settle prize winners. At that point, the suggestion timer, if needed, will start, customarily set for 24 hours, at which point the Prize A winner gets another 24 hours to decide which of the eligible combo suggestions he/she wants. Both those timers may be compressed to give folks adequate time to obtain any new cars necessary and get ready for practice on Thursday.

You may be able to "Filter" the sheet however.
In the read only sheet... It didn't let me sort because it was set to having header row... but there is no header row. Yet the data sort thing is frozen to believe that there is a header row.
Maybe if someone can go in and create a frozen header row, that would be helpful?

I have a whiz in the makeshift club that's been helping me with spreadsheets, so I'm learning...One of my own things is trying to rotate car-list/track combos so nobody gets deja vu & to help people pick combos that are "new & different". So I've come up with a spreadsheet for that.
I think I can modify that for snail combos... Put together a tally where cars / tracks get marked off.

So then peeps can easily see what cars have been used, and on what tracks, and how recently... if they're having trouble coming up with an idea, or don't have time to be testing a bunch.

Also could be nice to mark off cars that stink up in tuning prohibited on some tracks, and check them off for those tracks w/ a warning that they hit the limiter or whatever.
I happen to know several of those, and I bet others do too. And it would save each individual winner from having to actually test a bunch of combos to come up with something that works. Say they have 2 ideas... they go to the list and see, no wait, Lexus IS 200 98 hits the limiter on long straights... so they won't have to bother considering Indy RC or whatever.

I'm not quite sure how to do this, but I could at least get the data together, and then maybe someone smarter than me can improve on it.
I have too much time on my hands at the moment, so I'm already deep into the rabbit's burrow anyhow. :sly:

Welcome to SNAIL
Our mission is to provide our members with the cleanest and most competitive racing experience possible with minimal prep time required. No matter what your skill level is, we will provide you with a full grid of similarly-skilled drivers to compete against. It's our belief that close racing is not only exciting, but is also the best way to improve your skill and refine your racecraft! Our official league night is Sunday at 9:30pm Eastern / 6:30pm Pacific, but we also have a a wide variety of other events held on other nights of the week as well. If this sounds like something you'd like to be a part of, please keep reading to learn more about our league and how to join us.

What Makes Us Different
There are five key features of SNAIL that you won't find elsewhere. First of all, we provide you with evenly-matched competition regardless of your skill level. In fact, the intense level of competition that we produce has established SNAIL as the ideal place to prepare for GT Academy. And if you want to keep track of your improvement along the way, you'll be glad to know that we keep the most comprehensive race data available on GTPlanet. We also feature an interactive process that allows all of our members to have a say in which cars and tracks we race. And last but not least, we're the only league that awards our members with valuable prizes just for racing with us!!

Evenly-Matched Competition
Have you ever watched a professional race where drivers with completely different skill levels were competing on the same track? Of course not! That wouldn't be fun to watch, let alone fun to participate in. Unfortunately, that disparity of pace is something you'll often find in organized online racing. When this happens, you'll be lucky to have just a few drivers that you're truly competitive with. Everyone else will usually either be faster or slower than you. We prevent that from happening in SNAIL by dividing our drivers into separate divisions based on speed and skill. This results in full grids of evenly-matched competition and creates the closest and most intense sim racing experience around!

Prepare for GT Academy
If you'd like to compete in GT Academy, there's no better place than SNAIL to hone your skills to the elite levels necessary to make it to the finals. You need to be the best of the best to make it to Silverstone, and that's exactly what the drivers in our top division are. Half of last year's and half of this year's Silverstone Finalists have raced in SNAIL. And since our race format (which features multiple sprint races) is almost identical to the format used at the GT Academy national finals, they were able to use their SNAIL experience to help them advance to Silverstone. Click here if you want to advice from last year's eventual champion and click here if you want advice from last year's runner-up.

Valuable Prizes
Have you ever wished you could win free stuff just for having fun? If so, then you might want to know that our members win valuable real-world prizes just for racing with us! These prize are based on participation and not on race results. Some examples of prizes our members have won include a GranStand Cockpit, a ButtKicker Gamer2, a GranStand Wheel Stand, and a Wireless ButtKicker Kit. You can also join Team SNAIL and earn even more prizes, such as shirts (e.g. S.N.A.I.L. shirt, F1 shirt, GT Academy shirt), video capture devices (e.g. Hauppauge PVR), sim racing equipment (e.g. Playseat Evolution), and even gift cards (e.g. Amazon and PSN).

Spec Racing
SNAIL was the first GTPlanet league to prohibit tuning in all of our races. This combined with the fact that we race in the same cars produces a type of racing called "spec" racing. Spec racing ensures that success is determined solely by driving skill and not by differences in car power, gearing, suspension, weight, or aerodynamics. Because variables in the car are eliminated, spec racing is the truest measure of driver skill! It also produces intense battles for position because all of the cars are equally strong or weak in the same areas of the track. Another benefit of spec racing is that you'll never spend time tuning cars or wondering if someone is truly faster than you or if they just have a better tune.

Race Format
Our league night lasts for two hours and is split into three rounds. Each round consists of two races that last 10 to 12 minutes on a predetermined car and track combo. At the beginning of each round, a brief qualifying session determines the order of the starting grid. The first race is set to 'Fastest First' to reward the best qualifiers and the second race is set to 'Reverse Grid' in order to promote on-track action. Points are awarded based on our "perfect" points system. After a round is completed, we move on to the next round and repeat the same process with the next car and track combination. Once all three rounds are complete, we tally up the points and then let our interactive format kick in.

Interactive Process
Our unique format allows everyone to have a say on which cars and tracks we race. It is also used to strike a balance between familiarity and variety of cars and tracks. In other words, the progression of cars and tracks that we race is slow enough for us to learn them well, but fast enough that they don't get "old". At the end of every league night, we ask everyone to vote on which car and track combo they enjoyed the least. The combo that receives the most "elimination votes" is dropped from the next week's lineup entirely. The combo that receives the second most votes is also dropped, but only partially. This is where our prizes play an important role in our interactive format.

Prizes
A prize is awarded to the divisions winners with the three highest scores*. The division winner with the highest score gets Prize A. The division winner with the second highest score gets Prize B. The division winner with the third highest score gets Prize C: (NOTE: We now have a new process for breaking ties in the elimination vote)
Prize A: The right to select the new car and track combo to replace the combo that was voted off
Prize B: The right to replace either the car or the track of the combo that received the second most votes
Prize C: The right to "freeze" either the car or the track of the combo that received the second most votes

Promotion and Relegation
Although we split our drivers into separate divisions based on performance and skill level, we realize that our drivers are constantly improving and deserve a chance to climb the ladder of success. That's why we promote and relegate drivers before every season based on the results and data compiled during the previous season. This is also done to ensure that our races are as competitive as possible for all of our league members, top to bottom. Regardless of which division you're in, you will almost always be fighting to gain or defend a position on the track. Simply put, no other Gran Turismo league in the world can offer this much competitive racing to so many different skill levels.

Comprehensive Race Data
It's not always accurate to promote and relegate drivers based on championship points alone. That's why the massive amounts of data we track are invaluable to our league. You'd be hard-pressed to find a sim racing league anywhere in the world that tracks driver data and race results more comprehensively than we do. In fact, our SNAIL Results document contains so much information that we have to archive old data to avoid exceeding the GoogleDoc's maximum capacity! You can use this data to track the points championship for each season and compare yourself to other drivers in categories such as fast laps, total race pace, total points, average points per race, and power rankings.

Rules
We expect all drivers to follow our OLR Rules and pursue good racecraft at all times. If you're not sure what good racecraft is, watch this video. It can be summed up in one simple 'Golden Rule' of motorsports: It is the responsibility of the overtaking driver, meaning the car that is attempting to execute the pass, to make sure that the pass is made cleanly and incident free. If you don't agree with this rule or don't think it applies to you, this is not the league for you. If you ever feel like a driver is not following the rules, please wait until league night is over, then file a Racing Incident Report. Our Stewards will review the incident and issue the appropriate penalties.

@old ghost 43

Here's your official SNAIL Welcome Post!
Thanks for your interest!
Here's what you need to know (and do) in order to join:

We run a clean league by enforcing a strict penalty system based on the SNAIL OLR (which is a modified version of the GTP OLR). We also expect all of our drivers to know and follow The Good Racecraft Guide. Please become versed in both if you aren't already. Once that is complete, please follow the steps below to complete your entry into the league:

1. You start a conversation and add @CoachMK21, @Dragonwhisky, @JLBowler, @nmcp1 & @zer05ive as participants. The conversation title should be "Request To Join".

2. SNAIL Administrators will respond with specific instructions on what you need to accomplish to join the SNAIL [Spec] Racing club. Sunday races are organized exclusively through the GT6 Community features within the game.

3. Place the following links (URLs) in the favorites (or bookmarks) in your web browser for quick reference. Please make every effort to read and understand the following links. Over the years a great deal of time and effort has gone into creating this league and we would like nothing more than to have you but we ask that you take the time and effort to do your homework. 99.9% of any question you may have about SNAIL can be found in the posts below.
4. You drive fast and clean on Sunday 👍

Again, the original post has everything you need to know about what to expect on Sunday night and what you will need to have completed in order to be competitive. If you have any questions, please feel free to post your question on the thread. If you have a preference for car/wheel colour and racing number, please follow the instruction contained here.

During the week we run a number of different events, we encourage all SNAILs to join as many as possible.
Welcome to SNAIL

IMHO, prize winners SHOULD be testing their combos. If they don't have time, it would be best (and appreciated) to simply pass. Good combos have more to do with car faults & strengths and how a particular layout plays to those traits. The only way to find good combos is to test.

But the faults thing would be a good STARTING point for people.
IE: not reinventing the wheel, & not wasting loads of time in fruitless testing that's already been done.

Not everybody has the time to be testing endless combos on endless tracks.
And why should the picks only be left to those with huge amounts of time on their hands?

Examples:
Why on earth would anyone want to bother wasting time testing the Lexus IS 200 on Suzuka or Sarthe no chicanes, if someone's already tested it there, and it hits the limiter?
And if someone's favourite car is the Audi quattro '82, and their favourite track to race it on is Matterhorn D, and they want to pick that... but then they see oh, it's already been raced on Matterhorn, so then they can go test it on some other track.
Etc.
