EXTRAVAGANZA!

The format for this Monday will be four 20 minute races (counted in laps). The first three will be regular points races as usual, but the fourth is going to be a hooligan, all penalties off, no holds barred race. We will save whats going to happen until just before the race.

Mandatory Pit. Tire wear real.

All races to be started with max 40 liters of fuel. The total fuel amounts below have been rounded up and should be no problem for the race, but I would advise double checking your own fuel rates.

Race 1- Indy Oval - Your choice of either the Chevy or Honda IR-12 speedway car - 30 laps - 90 liters total

Race 2 - Texas Oval - SMS Formula X - 44 laps - 76 liters total

Race 3 - Daytona Oval - Chevy or Honda IR-12 speedway car - 30 laps - 85 liters total

Race 4 - will be announced before the race. No practice required!

It's so strange that some have had big issues while some of us have only had to deal with a couple of bugs before the patch. I have had no issues at all with my G27 since day one. Really hope the patch sorts things out for you.

PC dash worked for me as well but it's the original. I'm using it on a laptop. It said I installed RS Dash but I don't know where it went. Then I went to google play and it said I had no device to use it. But after reading set up notes on pocket playground I think SMS still has to tweak a couple of things yet.
I think I might try crew chief, for the life of me I can't get any of the crew or spotter to come through my headset. I've gone to every setting I can find but to no avail. I'm sure it's something simple!
You are using a g27?...mine is a g29. I had the same issue as gr8. Arcade feel to it then just dissapeared after a few laps.. the patch seems to have fixed that, now I just have to work on the settings to get a bit better feel to it. I have no idea where to activate the spotter. But at least the game is playable now.
I tried running with zii last night. Default zonder, sure do not like forced traction control. It made it feel arcade like.

I agree that GTs physics aren't up to par with PCars, and not close to Assetto, but understand the past two nights I've tried to play PCars 2 have been brutal. GTSport felt like the gold standard compared to the garbage FFB my wheel kept reverting to. Don't know what broke in my game, but it's FUBAR. Going to try the update tomorrow night - fingers crossed.
Patch seemed to fix issues for me, just needs tweeking. 69 Camaro is close to the real thing, still a bit light tho.

Sorry bear, that was a typo, I do have a 29.

Race 1- Your choice of either the Chevy or Honda IR-12 speedway car (they are both the same) at Indy Oval.

Race 4 - will be announced before the race. No practice required!

All races are 20 minutes long with a pit stop. We have already done the testing of the cars but I still need to figure out fuel and or tires.

That sounds like a crap ton of fun. Yeah!

Crap!!... I'm working at the local election on Monday and will not be home before midnight Eastern time. Who thought retirement will give me "all the time in the world" So far I had all the time in the world for everything else but racing!

I'm not much of an oval racing fan in real life but racing them in the sim world is a bunch of fun. I remember in Grim's RCS when we raced the Motegi Oval, it was such a blast.

I couldn't really "like" that Red! Just about everyone I know that's retired always says they are busier than ever. Except for Slobban of course!

Oval racing eh? Sounds like fun

And I just found this gem

You guy's should know Lobban well enough now to know that he was talking about the wheel, as he will only ever reference sheep where I'm concerned, lol. Even though Dolly is now living with Mike, and his cat, he still won't admit it to anyone! Just listen to the strange background noises the next time you hear him on his mic, lol.

I've Trimmed Dollys hair,(front and back) since that shot was taken, she was starting to look like Justin Bieber with a 1960s bush. Homey don't like dat.
Retirement is what you make of it. Being single and all, I don't have a wife nagging me to get off my ass and do something. I'm as busy as I want to be and I love it. I am never so bored that I wish I was still working. After 32 yrs. of operating a stinkin city bus always full of the unwashed and low rent residents, I don't have a high tolerance for stupid people that are everywhere, so I try not to intermingle with too many of them...... Not that I am ever stupid, (yeah right), but..........that's different. I hate driving..... really, if I never had to drive a car again, it would be ok with me. My Mom can't understand why I don't like driving but love racing.

Aero.......mange moi
Colts.....shut up

You'll be a lot busier once your community service starts... DOH!

To get your "dude" to talk to you through your headset, try this. If this doesn't do the trick, let me know, and I'll figure out what's missing.

In the XMB, make sure you've done this:
Settings
Devices
Audio Devices
Output to Headphones (check) All Audio

In Game, Make sure you've done this:
Gameplay
Onscreen Guides & Display
Race Engineer < Always >
Spotter < Always >

Audio
Pit to Car Radio Volume < 85ish >
Enable Headphone Mix < Off >

Last night was fun. I joined for the Indy race and then Daytona with NASCAR cars. My wheel seemed so loose idk I haven't had that problem on any of the cars or tracks unless it's an oval. From the start of the game with day 1 version and after patch. I haven't really understood all these guys saying it feels arcadish but mine certainly does on an oval. @coltsjugg my bad for 100% driving into you during practice at Indy, I have about 3 inches of free play in the wheel while driving in a straight line, just lost it. Whoever knocked me over and off my roof thank you very much. @SGETI I think it was you haha. Watching everyone go by at 200mph on my roof was boring af. When the ovals go right they seem like a good time so this Monday should be fun.

For me too, both cars feel 'floaty' at first with no steering stiffness. But after a few laps and getting to speed the feedback is there, but it's very small- but enough that I was still able to control slides to a point. I think it's just duye to these being very light oval tuned cars instead of what we are all used to. we can probably adjust the FFB settings for more heaviness in feel if we like.
So, it seems spinnig does a really nice job of warning the tires. And with that in mind, you might as well run without a rear wing because that's gone on the first spin.
One inaccuracy I found was that my Honda engine wasn't quitting when I was in the lead. I discovered that this could be fixed by going to 'Options-Realism-Driver and selecting "Spanish Two-time World Champinon"', Then it craps out just like it should.

After some testing this morning, I'd also like to suggest an 'unnoficial' follow up of the Lotus Turbine car at Indy for those interested. Maybe Tuesday or Wednesday evening.

A couple of people last night mentioned the turbine was fun. I'll check it out. We could run it at one of the tracks instead of using the Indy cars twice.

So when I changed to All Audio in settings from Chat Audio, I hear the crew now. But, I am no longer able to adjust the volume of my car. My turtle beach headset has separate volume controls for hearing others in chat and setting the volume of the car. I don't want to lose that so I guess I don't get to hear the crew.
I don't wear my headset while by myself, I listen to the sound through a set of external stereo speakers and now the crew comes through those, which they didn't before.
Tkx for the help Jeff.

FWIW,

He does have to be set to 'Always' as well, and not just authentic. He comes through my headphones just fine.
I downloaded the patch last night, gonna climb in a car and see what is better!

If that's the elusive Spotter you're talking about thanks for the heads up. I've had the elusive one set on Authentic and wondering if I'd ever hear him through the TV or headphones. Gonna fire up the PS4 and change it to "Always" and see if he'd turn up. I usually hear the Race Engineer but will set same for him too also.

Running a couple test sessions with McT and SAMHAIN and I was reminded of a glitch that I have communicated with SMS about. Oval circuits require a rolling start, and you need to start them MANUALLY. If you let the AI control the cars prior to the start, they will pass each other, and this will hand out penalties. Too many penalties (three I think) and you're disqualified. The disqualified driver may or may not get control of his car while the green light happens - if not the car just stops or heads to the bottom of the track because of the banking - wrecking everybody behind.

So, I suggest all races on ovals be started with Manual Rolling Start option, as this is the official suggestion from SMS via @The_American . And I think everyone should be warned that there will be zero B.S. tolerated in formation. NO brake checking, NO swerving to warm tires, No trying to play head-games with the guy behind you to get a better launch at green, etc. We're just trying to have a clean start here.

I'm hoping there won't be an issue Jeff as we have to get into order at the start anyways, and that should go fairly smooth on an oval! The starts will be manual start with no formation lap. We will be starting as per usual tonight but with no delay between A & B as the lap times will be very close, and there is only 10 of us ranked from last week. Any drivers that show up tonight that weren't here last week, I'll put in position from PCars 1 rankings.

I had fun practicing with Gr8 and Trucker last night.

I do have a question about the Indy cars. My car constantly pulls to the left so I'm having to counter-steer going down the straights. Its obviously not a problem in the turns as its easier to turn left. Does this happen with you guys? Maybe its a controller glitch? In the SMS Forumla X it drives like normal.

I also noticed in the Indy car that my car barely has any sort of turning radius. If I spun out and was pointed the wrong direction, I'd have to pull forward/back up like 10x just to get it pointed in the correct direction, the car just doesn't want to turn that far.

Should be a fun night tonight. Cant wait to see what kind of shenanigans is in store for R4

No issues at all with that Chris, maybe a controller thing. Get a wheel! :D

Being an oval car it's 'weight jacked' or staggered - the default setup has different pressures left to right. Theres even a setting to change the weight jacking.
But yeah, get a freaking wheel dude. Friends don't let friends use controllers.
